Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

So this morning I let the dog out and then proceeded to turn and bang my foot into a footstool that we have near the door.  Hurt like hell and I was pretty sure I broke a toe but I ignored it all day.  Finally decided to take my sock off and take a look and yep, based on past experiences my middle toe is definitely broken.  Nice and bruised all the way around.  I let Vikki walk Merlin tonight.  I guess we'll find out how hard it is to walk in the morning.  At least it's the middle toe so the others support it.

Just glad it happened after I got back from my cruises as opposed to before.

Many years ago I desired a snack in the middle of the night.I walked downstairs to the kitchen but did not put on the light because my cat was sleeping in the area. The next thing I knew I was on the floor.I tripped over the cat and broke a toe.My wife drove me to an ER and nobody there believed that I fell over the cat.

Debbie, how is Eric feeling?

Thank you for asking.   Eric is still sluggish and now has congestion.   After a light breakfast this morning he got dizzy standing up.  He has spent most of the day in his recliner and just went back to bed.

I woke up with scratchy throat, stuffy nose and fever of 99. I am taking Tylenol and Claritin D and muddled through the day working from home.   We both still tested negative with our home kits.

I spoke with one of his transplant coordinators and she said get PCR test or just assume he has covid and make sure everyone is drinking extra amounts of fluid, monitor his temp and oxygen levels (which have been good) and if he feels worse to call her.

Thank you for asking 😍

Back when I went barefoot in the house, I was always hooking a toe on furniture or falling and bending them backwards.
After a few trips to the doctor with them, and having them taped together, I started just doing that at home. Healed just as fast!

Then I realized that if I didn’t go barefoot, it wouldn’t happen any more.
Problem solved!

Luckily hail was small, had to replace roof a few times since moving to Texas , several areas of our suburb had flooding also.

I thought I already posted a response but just found this hours after I was on this thread. Glad you had no hail damage.  The driveway in our house in Plano had deep holes because of hail damage a few years ago and we had to replace our roof.  My friend in Frisco had to replace her roof twice in 10 years.

Banging a toe is super painful.

Sounds like Eric's transplant coordinator gave you good advice.

Hope the 3 of you heal quickly.

I had that happen on a cruise once, but it was the little toe that broke.  Couldn’t put a pair of ice skates on, so that was out.

And, I was the only one dressed in a tux and flip flops on formal night. Too swollen to get shoes on.

A broken toe is not fun.  I hope it heals quickly.

Where can I find it?

In 1988 I wrote a chapbook of short stories and poetry.A chapbook is a paperback between 20 and 75 pages and is usually either self published or published by a Small Press.Usually the author uses this format to introduce themselves to a major publisher.I opted to go with a Small Press because the publisher had a contract with Barnes and Noble to sell the books. My book was out of print by 1990 although over the years they have popped up in used book stores in Chicago  and Los Angeles.

The publisher gave me copies of the book which I gave to family ,friends, relatives and co-workers.Several years ago I brought copies on a cruise and gave them out at the Meet and Greet on the ship.I only have two copies left which I am saving for my grandkids when they are old enough to read them.

I hate that the both of you are not feeling well.  Good thing it hit after the cruise.  Hope it passes quickly.  Drink that water!

The one hail storm I had in coppell another suburb of Dallas I had golf ball hail that went thru my old 8 foot metal satellite dish . I feel lucky that that’s the worst thing that happened to our property.

Hope you both feel better real soon ! Sucks to feel like that  right after a vacation when you both are trying to get back to the swing of things back at home again.

Ouch. Caught my little toe on a door once. Walked on it all day because I refused to believe it was broken. My roommate looked at it and said if it wasn't broken I wouldn't be able to turn it completely around like this.

I thought lots of milk and yogurt helped but that might have been wishful thinking.

Sadly just cancelled our trip to London.  We have an 11 day Baltic cruise scheduled for August and the plan was to go to London for 5 days first then fly to CPH and do the cruise.  Decided to just do the cruise and save London for another year.

Sorry to hear but I'm sure you did it for all the right reasons. I liked London but it's just a gigantic city.

Ouch, I've never broken a toe but I have had a friend who did and it was not fun. Very painful. At least it was the middle like you said and others can support it. Hang in there and I hope you get better fast.

I have a friend who is a bit famous for breaking her toes doing some crazy thing or another.  The other day she posted a Facebook memory of when she got a "mulch splinter" in a finger from doing Grass Angels in the yard.  Very first comment that popped up was, "But were your toes okay?"

Buddy tape it, ice it, elevate it, and take ibuprofen/naproxen regularly (anti-inflammatory).  And give Merlin some ear rubbies for me!

Sorry to hear of the broken toe.  My daughter broke her toe  on the first day of a three week top deck tour of Europe. Very painful.

Just booked a specialist appointment for myself.  First available is mid-June.  Confirmation email advised that due to long wait list, any no shows will be billed $220.00. Not seen that before for specialists but understandable.
