I am an Oncology nurse and work directly with my physician.  If a patient calls requesting results of scans, I will address with the physician and if there are abnormalities he will speak with them personally.  We also try very hard to make follow up appointments for results in at least 4 days after the scans.

Pat

I'm trying to stay positive because the follow up appointment was made at the same time as the MRI appointment. They did ask for his "permission" to call earlier but that was also before the MRI. So I'm leaning towards no news is good news. We just don't like being given to access to the report and not knowing how to read it.

Can you tell me the prices of the current passes? It is a long time since we have been there and generally prefer Park Royal or Del Mar  Latino but always good to have a back up. These locations are all good to save on transport.

We generally save the others for land visits these days.

It was $52 for the all inclusive. They had others starting at $25. AI included food, drinks, WiFi, towels, use of all facilities.

I had also read about Del Mar but they were booked.

I have been to the Park Royal and prefer that to ElCid. PR has its pool area by the resort and beach clubs across the road, accessible via the tunnel. I like the pool area by the hotel.

One of my daughter and SIL’s vehicles was damaged when part of a tree came through the windshield and dash.  They had to get a rental while it was being repaired, and their insurance would only cover 45 days of rental.  We let them use one of our vehicles when the repair took longer than that.  No one anticipated the repair to take that long, but getting parts needed takes longer than usual now.

Good point.  I am sure that has played a large part of car rental issues.

That's good there are no shortages impacting your sailing😃   That's nice, IMO, to not have full ship.

Where to next?   Hope to see more photos😃

Today is the last sea day. Time to pack and leave luggage out tonight. Short 6 day cruise.

It is 75° this morning, and 100% chance of rain (which I can confirm, because it is raining). Just waiting for the morning shower to pass.

Yesterday, we spent the morning at the beach, then went to Broadway at the Beach for the afternoon.

First stop, Margaritaville.

Then it was off to the Aquarium. I kept looking for the bottle.

I walked by, and this guy was selling insurance.

The grandkids fed some stingrays. I never paid attention to how much their underside looks like a face.

And we were treated to a rainbow, once we got back to the beach.

We have been to Broadway at the Beach too,  kind of weird, Man made lagoon and no beach.

The Beach Rider Jet Boat ride is pretty wild there and the Wonder Works upside down building. Tried to get in Paula Dean's  for dinner but that was a no no without reservation long in advance.

We had dinner at Hard Rock while we were there instead.

I really feel she has rounded bend on the surgery issues and is onto making her muscles strong again. Yesterday she walked 60’ with here walker and today she did 130’, down the rest home hallway. It was also her first day out of her night gown. I’m really proud of her.

This is great news!

Lucy has been missing since Saturday night. We started to worry a couple days ago so we checked with the neighbours.

She quickly took her pets. No bites for Owen, but the neighbours said they get two pets followed by a gentle bite.

Thank goodness she's ok. Glad you found her. I've never seen a cat that likes to ride in a car. Congrats to Owen on his good grades.

I did not know that there was an actual size to Kraken. That's a big sea monster at a mile and a half. I prefer mine in a glass.

Looks like a great time. Love the rainbow.

What a PIA. Just completed my pre cruise test on Emed  for our Allure cruse this Sunday.

Only took about 5 tries to get through.  At least it is negative.  DW has to do hers now. Second   time doing it should be much easier.

Unfortunately, this is what happens when our all knowing federal government thinks they know better how to run medicine than the people in medicine. It is because of the fed's regulations that reports are now released the way they are. I have had some terrible experiences where patients have received reports and lab results before I get them. This sometimes provides them information that I would never even tell them over the phone as they deserve face to face time to digest it and get their questions answered. Sometimes I need time to digest the information and decide how to present it and develop options and strategies for treatment but the feds have turned it all upside down.

And they wonder why physicians leave practice for other opportunities or retire at a younger age than in the past. End of my rant.

Thanks for your insight and for confirming how I feel about these reports being made available to patients. I don’t look at them because I know I would not understand them and would just then experience what other posters have mentioned. No need to add additional stress to the situation.

Lenny, when I read this earlier, I couldn't for the life of me remember a Jahn's on S.I.  I just saw one of Mimi's posts where she mentioned Jahn's, and I think it was on 86th Street in Brooklyn.  Is that where it was??  If so, I had been there many years ago several times, if that is the same place we both are thinking of?

Maryann, there were several and one is still around ,in Queens.Toby and I went to Jahn’s on 86 street on the first night we went out.I have been there many times too.I had a lot of friends living in Bensonhurst .

Apt. is really coming along.  Bedroom is larger than our previous one so there's more room to get around on my TEMPORARY wheelchair. 👩‍🦽

We had a Jahn's in our neighborhood and a bunch of us used to order The Kitchen Sink on occasion.

I remember the Kitchen Sink .There are two ice cream parlors in the area where I live now.One opened more than 100 years ago and on the menu they still have items that were sold in 1920 but of course not at the price.

Toby and I went there many times on her birthday. The other one opened about 10 years ago and has on the menu ice cream treats that were popular in the 1950’s but at today’s prices. We have been there several times on my birthday.

When we cruised in January that was our thoughts, just get back onboard.  At that time so many were having ports canceled we decided we didn't care about the itinerary because it would probably change.   A port did get canceled.

With the baby coming we will not cruise until October.   Kind of funny.   Before we were both retired we had a hard time fitting in a cruise every other year.

We were only on 2 cruises before we retired.

Spent the last two evenings with the representative from Rabbit Hole Distillery who was in town for some tastings. If you are not familiar with Rabbit Hole they make some incredible bourbon from Louisville KY. It's an interesting story in that their founder Kaveh Zamanian’s was a successful clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst. He met his wife who was from Louisville and once he went to the city fell in love with bourbon. He decided to open his own distillery and produced his own bourbon have never done it before. He created several different recipes that were all different and were based on craft beer recipes.

So on Wednesday night we had a tasing at my good friends retail liquor store in the area. The room was packed to hear Rabbit Hole's rep explain the history, each bottle and how unique it was.

4 flights to taste "Cavehill," "Heigold," "Dareringer," "Boxergrail."

My favorite is the Dareringer which is aged in sherry casks. This is amazing. If you get a chance to try these I think you you will love them. They are unique and very good tasting.

Then last night The Kansas City Whiskey Guild for which I'm a member hosted the rep with another tasting of the Rabbit Hole brand in a new bar downtown called "Society." We had custom cocktails using the different Rabbit Hole brands and did some fun socializing amongst everyone.

1445989451_KCWG2.thumb.jpg.536dcc2a26d2485419c5599c38b7e4f4.jpg

The highlight was watching two of our members spend $125 for a flight tasting of all the Pappy Van Winkle line of bourbons. These are considered by some as the "Holy Grail" of bourbon. I was surprised that the Rip Van Winkle 10 year (the cheaper bottle) beat out the older year Pappy's.

577055316_KCWG3.thumb.jpg.8f39a6caa3b5f24c889ffe8b0dd266ef.jpg

It was a great time sipping and talking bourbon by everyone.

Cheers!

For those asking about mom is has had another banner day.

I took the day off from seeing her to see The Rise of Gru with Lisa and Owen.  8 of the last 9 days have been with her and she is up for some visits. Mom’s sister went in for a visit after her lunch and her physiotherapy.  Mom was on a liquid diet for a few days and needed some help from a laxative to get things going again.  Yesterday she had “success” and is back on regular food and today is is now off the strong pain meds. Pain is gone while resting and is about a 2 or 3 during physio which is great.

I really feel she has rounded bend on the surgery issues and is onto making her muscles strong again. Yesterday she walked 60’ with here walker and today she did 130’, down the rest home hallway. It was also her first day out of her night gown. I’m really proud of her.
