The Pacific bubble could be a long way off . The Islands are terrified of the virus getting in as it would destroy their small communities .

Stage 1 happened 120 years ago, when NZ was included in the Australian constitution as a potential state.

Well that's true but it's the wrong way round. Therefore it isn't stage 1 of Australia becoming the West Island of NZ! 🤣

Jeez, wouldn't that give a few pollie-influencers a headache. 🤣🤣🤣

For a start, I just want to see the Border between NSW and Qld opened. That would do me for some time - then maybe the 50Klm car drive increased further.

In a way traffic has began with the rugby players flying into Tamworth.

Are their families going to follow?

Apparently not. It was one of the sticking points that the players would not be able to see their families for a few months. Seems enough players agreed to this that they were able to go ahead.

I did a tour of the Beehive on my first tour to NZ, back in 2011.  The tour guide asked us all where we came from.  I responded with "West Island".  She did a double take, before picking up on my accent and figuring out what I meant.

If NZ opens up next summer, I have a friend who would like to do a south island tour with a cruise return. May have to start planning an itinerary.

With or without travel insurance that covers covid-19 problems?

Because it will be without.

If there's any likelyhood of covid I wont be going. And, if there is, I reckon travel will not be open for flights or cruises anyway.   (I always have travel insurance and at 70+ I have no pre existing.)

It’s not the cabinet in the usual sense but made up of PM Premiers and some others

It is called the National Cabinet but it is basically a COAG (Council of Australian Governments) meeting with extra experts as deemed necessary. Still unprecedented to have another countries head of state sit in and participate.

I thought I was optimistic hoping my late November cruise to NZ goes ahead 😁, but you beat me. If your Fiji trip is a fly/land one, not a cruise, you might have a chance.

Fly to Fiji & sit on a stunning Fiji Island for 2 weeks, then fly home!

If we all cross everything together it just might happen!

Cheers
