Casinos onboard

Recommended Posts

Has anyone give any given thought to or has any information about any changes coming to the casinos.

I would think they need to go smoke free for the foreseeable future. Info at the moment says covid is most transmittable through droplets (i.e. saliva or sneezing).

I really like a smoke free casino anyway but seems that would make sense for the cruise and add a mask. 😣

I wish they would ban smoking, but how would that help in preventing the spread of Covid-19?

If you wear a mask in the casino it is difficult to smoke .Therefore,it will become smoke free as long as everyone wears a mask.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that in the casino, the constant handling of cards, chips, dice and slapping slot machine buttons that everyone else is miiiight be a little more of a risk than a smoker.  And no, I'm not trying to get into a discussion about casino smoke.

There are way more high-touch surfaces in the casino than even the buffet.  Even if they find a solution to maintain social distancing, the nature of the games is that everyone is touching damn near everything.  A lot.  One six-deck blackjack shoe practically guarantees you and the other players/dealer at the table have had a lot of shared contact.

I'm a big fan of casino play, but I'll be amazed if they find a way to make this work before there is a vaccine, and even then -- it's still high-risk when the next really virulent and nasty bug crops up.

Are we going to start a new thread to discuss every area of the ship? Why not include pools, promenades, dining, etc. Either we will cruise or we won’t.

Ironically, that's a great idea.

Some good news coming out of CDC today......according to this news source

https://www.foxnews.com/health/cdc-now-says-coronavirus-does-not-spread-easily-via-contaminated-surfaces

Not exactly... Here is the main CDC website source

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/how-covid-spreads.html

Here is what it says:

From touching surfaces or objects. It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes. This is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads, but we are still learning more about this virus.

So we have:

"it may be possible that a person CAN get Covid-19"

"not thought to be the main way the virus spreads"

"we are still learning more about this virus"

Not sure what one can really make of that but that video recently released shows otherwise IMHO

Wash hands.

Don't touch face.

Don't cruise if you're scared, wait for a vaccine for Covid-19, drowning, Noro, heart attacks, etc.

What did the cruise Industry implement during H1N1 and SARS?

Also to add, the CDC has required restaurants to use disposable menu's, single serve condiments, sanitize the table and chairs after each seating, sanitize POS touch screens after each use, and sanitize customer touch surfaces every hour just to name a few.

When did those prior viruses overwhelm hospitals & morgues with dead people?

Even in 1918 on October 3, schools, churches, theaters, and public gathering spaces were shut down to stop the spread. 100 years ago they implemented mask wearing and social distancing.

Hundreds cancelled their cruises during H1N1.  Some people believe that this virus played a part in Royal Caribbean pulling out of California.

So they didn't implement any of the speculations that may be required upon resuming of cruising?

Did CDC issue a no-sail order?

Did you shelter in place?

Whoa there.....didn't mean to derail the thread into yet another other COVID-19 measurement contests.  PSA....sharing a news tidbit saying clearly the virus doesn't spread as easily on surfaces as first thought is not an open invitation that I want to start an internet argument since neither one of us is saying the virus doesn't spread that way; just that it doesn't spread as easily as thought.  So, you know the whole doom and gloom images of countries walking around outside sanitizing side walks that help whipped up this entire crapfest? Well, now that we know more about the virus those actions appear now to be what we call in the industry 'an overreaction'

🙂

One near us is doing the same at table games and they are turning off every other slot machine for distancing.

I have read several different studies being done in various countries about smokers and covid.   Dr. Oz also spoke in great detail about the effects of tobacco on covid several weeks ago.     Of course, he was not going to promote anyone to start smoking as of course there are other side effects.     I found this very interesting.

What are they doing about the men’s bathrooms ?You cannot social distance there ,especially the new ones in the casino in Yonkers.

Because when people blow out their smoke it is akin to sneezing or coughing. They are spreading saliva particles etc.

I just love a smoke free casino. We have one in Biloxi we go to just because it’s smoke free. It’s great.

Not scared, and I’m hygienic. Thanks.

I personally just like a smoke free casino. And it would def cut down on the transmission of illness, covid or otherwise...people would not be blowing their smoke around (it’s akin to coughing and sneezing).

I wish every casino on land and sea was smoke free but that will never happen.
