Congratulations on shifting the discussion  "...life getting back to normal.." is a human construct and is a matter of perspective.  My point was directed towards all of the Chicken Little's in the world who use emotion to guide their actions and behaviors and not logic, science, or math, and live their lives based on "what ifs" - actually, I only care when they try to push that view and modus of control on everybody else.  Demanding people wear masks after getting sick or after getting vaccinated is an example and is a stupid concept.  There is never going to be a vaccine without somebody getting ill from it.  There will never be a virus where everybody survives.

Public policy shouldn't be guided by what "could" happen but it is anyway.  Same concept as managing to the lowest common denominator, evidenced by our public school system.  Nobody gets left behind, but lots are held back.  And that is a socialist mindset, and I'm going to call it out.

Live life between the goalposts and everything will work out.😘

This is part of why the great sage Fauci is really grating on my nerves. It serves no purpose to go on TV at this point and say we could see a Christmas surge on top of the surge of cases. The fact is he doesn't know. Plenty of what he says is pure speculation on his part but people swallow every word he says as the ultimate truth.

Well since I was about 5 or 6 when she was on TV she is not exactly a spring chicken...

What is your point? I don't feel that passing at 81 - from my perspective at age 65 at any rate - sounds all that old, nor does it make it any less sad that she fell victim to covid complications. I certainly hope - health permitting - to live longer than only another 16 years, let alone die from a virus.

Isn't it rather inevitable though?  We know that a good number of people likely didn't refrain from the usual family gatherings. It happened within my own relation. The greater the degree of contact (especially with non-masking and non-distancing) = more cases. Then we have New Year's Eve parties coming up, etc.

My father died at age 82, my mother at age 94.  My husband's father at age 53, his mother at age 84 from a virus and his brother was murdered at age 40.   All that happened before covid.  A person never knows what from or when they will pass.  That is why a person needs to enjoy as much as possible every day because you just never know.

And congratulations to you for revealing you have no understanding of the role of government in promoting the general welfare of its citizens.

I will state, one more time, and then drop out of the discussion: The virus doesn't care what you think. It doesn't care about your opinion on masks or vaccines or for your affinity towards goal posts. It is going to do what viruses always do. It will infect and kill as long as we let it. Right now the score is approaching 400,000 dead, 20 million infected.  "Loosen up" is essentially aiding and abetting.

And I'm out...

Anthony Fauci is the foremost infectious disease expert in the country. I will most certainly listen to and heed what he has to say.

No, I will NOT get the vaccine.
I don’t get the flu shot either.
If it is required, I will not be cruising.
2 people in my immediate family were the sickest they had ever been after the flu shot.
They never took another flu shot as well as the other immediate family never took one.

So, unless you are wearing a N95 mask and goggles, you are not doing enough....  the key is to stay away from other people.

Do you people really want to live like that forever?

At some point we are going to have to accept that bad things happen to nice people and it is not only ok, it is normal.  Instead we beat each other up over you deny science and you suck, or I don’t care it is a conspiracy...  it doesn’t matter. The disease is eventually going to hit us all... hopefully when it hits you ... your immune system or the vaccine will save you.

We are decimating our economies and making super bazillionaires out of our future overlords, Jeff Bezos, and others.  We can not print money forever and expect no future dire consequences.  There are worse things than a virus that kills less than 1/2% of the people it infects.

I am a mask wearer even though the virus is smaller than the tightest thread we can weave.  I avoid people.  I don’t travel.  I have given up a hell of a lot to do my tiny part, but folks it is not going to save us.  We have to live at some point.  Kids have to go to school or the consequences of that will make Covid look like a spring picnic.

Sigh...  what a bunch of utopian believers we have become.  There is no Utopia, there is no free lunch.

"There are worse things than a virus that kills less than 1/2% of the people it infects."

Spoken like someone who has not lost a friend or loved one to this disease.

I'm stunned by the fact that a certain percentage of Americans lack the fortitude and discipline to defeat this virus. Our economy has been decimated because we didn't have leadership from the top and because we didn't have the will power to do what we needed to do to tamp the virus down.

That's a pretty sad commentary on American society, in my opinion.

It's the Governor's who have decimated the economy as they are the ones issuing the lockdown/closure orders. I live in CA where Gov Newsome has extended....again....orders to close the following. Many businesses will not survive.

  • Hair salons and barbershops
  • Personal care services
  • Playgrounds
  • On-site dining, even outdoors, at restaurants, breweries and wineries
  • Indoor recreational facilities
  • Indoor use of libraries
  • Museums, zoos aquarium
  • Movie theaters, family entertainment centers and casinos

Meanwhile, some places will still welcome visitors under certain COVID-19 safety modifications.

  • Retail stores and shopping centers, but at a 20% capacity
  • Gyms and fitness centers, but with outdoor services only
  • Places of worship, but with outdoor services only
  • Parks, but playgrounds are closed
  • Hotels as critical infrastructure support
  • Non-urgent medical and dental care
  • Child care and pre-K

Absolutely agree we should all make the most of every day but always take care.

Where I'm at overdose Deaths are up over 70%. When topic Gun Control and Deaths come up many don't realize 2/3 all Gun Deaths each yr are Suicides. So far 40% American's have experienced some sort of Mental Heath or Stress Issue. See Florida is doing CV Vaccines take care elderly(65+) first. "With 75% all cases being ages 18-64 but 81% all Deaths in people over 65. If you're a 22yr old food service, work at Supermarket you have preference over a 74yr old Grandmother" Desantis said, "I don't think that is the Direction we'll go"... Here in Michigan even the State Supreme Court requested all that work in Court House at front of the line...Sure, don't we all.

Supposedly for "Continuity of Government" even young members of Congress got the vaccine ahead of others.

More truth with Fauci than the nonsensical "it will go away on its own" stuff that resulted in national tragedy.

It doesn't matter if it is inevitable or not. For him to make the statement after Christmas, when it is too late to alter people's holiday behavior, just amounts to pontificating and fear mongering. He should spend less time on TV and rubbing elbows with politicians and go take care of some patients.

Really?  For the last 60 years my household has either hosted or gone to relatives to celebrate holidays. Guess what we did this year  - We altered our behavior because we are not morons & have free will.  It is never too late to alter behavior, you just don't go - that simple. "Mom, are you coming for NYE?  No honey you have children and it is not worth the risk. I think we should ZOOM or facetime instead."  WOW was that hard?!?!?

BTW you need to read up on Fauci. He was at the forefront of the AIDS/HIV epidemic. He is to thank that some AIDS patient have lived long lives & gone from multiple meds per day, done to only 1 or 2. I know this from 1st hand knowledge having a best friend who has lived 35 years with HIV, the last 15 being with actual AIDS. All the while he was seeing patients & not rubbing elbows with politicians.

My point was making the statements AFTER  Christmas did nothing to alter people's Christmas behavior. And I am well aware of his past laurels.
