rbslos18 Posted August 13, 2020 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2020 What part of town would you suggest for one night pre-cruise? Downtown, Airport, Dania Beach, Plantation And what is your go-to hotel in the area you prefer? Thanks RB
CruiserBruce Posted August 13, 2020 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2020 If you look down the board, the 17th Street area is recommended almost daily. Many hotels, close to the port and airport, lots of restaurants.

Thanks RB Ours is Hyatt Place just off 17th Street...a great pre-cruise location next to the Harbor Shopping area with a Publix market, shops and restaurants...one of our favorite is Duffy's. Enjoy !!
JohninDC Posted August 14, 2020 #4 Share Posted August 14, 2020 Agree - 17th street and the Embassy Suites and Hyatt are both very popular with cruisers. Pull up the area on Google Maps to see other hotel options (there are many) and locations. Have a great cruise!

Excellent hotel at a very reasonable price.
Ravbo Posted August 14, 2020 #6 Share Posted August 14, 2020 (edited) My vote also goes to Riverside Hotel. We ALWAYS stay at Riverside when departing from Fort Lauderdale. Located on trendy Las Olas blvd. Walking to restaurants and bars. Hotel also has restaurants and bears within hotel. Stay on the new section of hotel. Much nicer. rkacruiser Posted August 14, 2020 #7 Share Posted August 14, 2020 I usually have driven to Fort Lauderdale when I take a cruise, so I prefer to stay away from areas near the Port. I have stayed most frequently and recently at Fort Lauderdale Marriott North Hotel on Andrews Avenue near Cypress Creek Road. Quick and easy to get on I-95 the morning of sailing, hotel pricing--even in High Season--is reasonable even for a full service Marriott with free parking, and restaurants are not far away, some of which could be accessed by walking. voljeep Posted August 17, 2020 #8 Share Posted August 17, 2020 Hilton Inn Marina - get a nice high tower balcony room looking out to the cruise port and terminal 2 - very nice to see your ship arrive ( esp. Princess at terminal 2 knowing in a couple of hours you will be boarding 🍻 ) also a water taxi pickup / drop just steps away

We like to arrive early enough to watch the ships depart the previous evening.

bigrednole Posted August 20, 2020 #11 Share Posted August 20, 2020 We just put a reservation down for Wyndham Garden Fort Lauderdale. A hotel for us is a place to sleep. We will get there around 1PM and have to figure out what to do for the afternoon and evening. I know the casino and jai alai is around the corner which will be entertaining. TTEllis Posted August 20, 2020 #12 Share Posted August 20, 2020 Courtyard Marriott on Seabreeze and Las Olas, best location in Lauderdale, across the street from the beach. 3 minute walk to the Elbo Room, and all the restaurants on A1A.
LadyBerard Posted August 25, 2020 #13 Share Posted August 25, 2020 We love the Sonesta in FLL. That's where we always stay now. Outstanding service, all oceanview rooms, many places within walking distance, including Galleria Mall.
