Everything... project Leonardo/Prima class!

Recommended Posts

This inaugural cruise might be the next cruise I go on 🤣 I’m a pretty novice cruiser with only 4 cruises under my belt. This year we would have done 3 total but alas it wasn’t meant to be. I’m really looking forward to a different size and layout of ship. I’ll definitely be watching this thread closely.

NCL is falling behind in the "big ships" race. Several lines are going larger than NCL's largest while also going smaller than NCL's largest. By the time that the Leonardo Class is done, Encore wont even be in the top 30 as far as size/gross tonnage.

NCLH should do a better job of exposing Oceania and Regent SS to Haven guests. Let Haven guests who don't want/need go-karts and slides know about the higher-end lines and even let Haven guests book those lines from the Haven desk.

Okay...I am really late to this thread, but we have always stayed in the Haven/suites on NCL and have been bombarded in the past month with Oceania emails/brochures (at least one brochure a week).

I would consider them, but we love the relaxed dress code of NCL. We are going to cancel our 2021 cruise, so who knows what 2021 will bring. I will say that I've been unhappy with the continuing downgrading of the "free" add-ons, even though I understand the reasons.

Does anyone know if our status on NCL will transfer to Oceania? Or if it even matters?

I found this, hope it can be posted:

For the record, unfortunately, NO, your status does not reverse between NCL / Oceania. I wish it did, however, it does not.  While Oceania and NCL are part of NCLH, the status of either does not transfer between lines.

Cheers 🥂

Although the Latitudes status does not transfer, your Casino Status (if you have one) does carry between all lines are all Casinos At Sea. So if you are Ruby on NCL, you will also be Ruby on Oceania and Regent.

Where are the race tracks and laser tag? While I was looking forward to the race track on the Encore, it got me thinking- would I really want to share a helmet and one of those ski type masks with other passengers?

Are they still really going ahead and building these? Where is the revenue coming from- they simply can't keep borrowing and issuing debt.

Those "socks" are presumably washed between uses, though I do wonder how that is going to be handled in a post-COVID world (a topic for another thread).

I sailed Encore while Covid was spreading the world.  I was on the next to the last sailing.  NCL had the process down pretty good.  You wear a black hood that goes on before the helmet.  The hoods are washed and the helmets cleaned before anyone else can use them again.

However as we are just learning now compared to the early days of Covid, the vast majority of Covid cases are NOT spread by touch.  It is airborne from people who are carriers yet dont know they are sick.  Extremely few cases of touching surfaces and catching Covid.

SUGGESTED WISH LIST:

1)   ** power outlet beside bed (along with light and USB outlets) for the CPAP users ** PLEASE!

2)   no more go-kart race track or laser tag (NCL already has 3 ships with these, and that's enough)

3)   extra swimming pool (or 2)

4)   aft Spice H2O - with pool! Like the new Spirit! Latest new build - Encore - lacks this

5)   Asian restaurant - not the Noodle bar (last mega NCL ship to have it is the EPIC, and we miss them on the new ships)

6)   Pincho Tapas Bar (only ship that has it is the Escape and we loved it)

7)

Feel free to add to the list and hope NCL will listen .... 😎

The megablock being towed around in the yard's basin, taken early June. And look at the width of that "waterfront" if you see through the scaffolding. Huge! :classic_love:

Vard Tulcea only produces the engine megablock, which will be towed to Italy at a certain point Their process is similar to Meyer Werft and her subsidiaries. The yard already started on the engine megablock for the 2nd Leonardo class ship! That's what is going on on the dock. It's not a second megablock for the first ship, which I hoped and/or thought.

Additional exits/entrances when ports can handle them.  Using only one or two exits for a ship carrying thousands of passengers always creates ridiculously long lines.

There has never been a charge for snacks in the Epic Spice H2O on all the times I've sailed her.  Is that a recent thing?

A la carte as in; having to ask for the snacks of the menu. Free of charge, just a bit of a wait for the orders to be brought out.

Ah, okay.   I was thinking of the small snack buffet they would have across the aisle from the bar.

That was always good to graze on after one too many tropical drinks.   🙂

i used to love Pinchos but ncl has since reduced the amount of plates to 4 if you use the dining plan. 😞

when it was unlimited, i would regularly get 10-15 plates. (i travel solo)

at $7/plate, 15x7 = $105! :)

got my $ worth from the dining plan back then

15 plates?  What was on a plate?

I was thinking the same thing, been on the Escape twice and looked at Pinchos both times and thought it wasn't worth what it was saying the small plates had on them.  Maybe one day with a huge onboard credit I might try it.

1 or 2 small pieces of meat.

tapas means 'small plates'

here's an old menu:

https://www.beyondships2.com/uploads/8/2/4/5/8245255/31534_pincho_y_tapas_bar_menu.pdf

Pulled this from NCL's Escape page, Sample Menu. If its accurate, it looks like they eliminated a few items and rearranged the page, the names of certain dishes, along with an uptick in price. None the less, if the portions and quality remains the same  from a few years ago, it is worth it. If I recall, we had the pork bell, crab salad, chef's cheese platter, the duck and scallops.
