laslomas Posted June 1, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2021 Has anyone seen anything about how lifts on board ship will be operating when the cruises restart? Will there be new guidelines on capacity within each one? I realise there will be fewer passengers on board, though I have not seen anything definitive on this either, but at certain times it can be a real crush inside the lift / elevator. jelayne Posted June 1, 2021 #2 Share Posted June 1, 2021 I haven't seen any info of the limits from Celebrity but the resort we visited recently had a limit of 4 people in most elevators, a couple which were smaller had a limit of 3. Doctor's office building last week had a limit of 4. The stairs will get a lot more use.
Mike45LC Posted June 1, 2021 #3 Share Posted June 1, 2021 If all adults (passengers and crew) have been "fully vaccinated", I am not sure that elevators will need to be restricted -- no "social distancing" required. 3
George C Posted June 1, 2021 #4 Share Posted June 1, 2021 Millennium sails this Saturday hopefully we can get answers to questions like this then. We sail in a month, all adults need to be vaccinated.
marieps Posted June 1, 2021 #5 Share Posted June 1, 2021 Caesar's properties in Vegas have gone to a limit of 6 in the lift. Every casino was packed last weekend under a mask-optional policy for the fully vaccinated. No proof needed, so the mast majority were maskless. Full capacity at the tables and no slots blocked off. kathynorth Posted June 1, 2021 #6 Share Posted June 1, 2021 I predict that once cruise ships are back to full capacity so will the elevators.
sandancer Posted June 1, 2021 #7 Share Posted June 1, 2021 (edited) Watched a YouTube video of the first MSC cruise out of Southampton and the limit was 4 persons at any one time. The four corners of the lift had a marked area where each person should stand. Seems like a good system to me but whether it will be adhered to is another matter. There have been many on the European cruises, as well as some on the first UK cruises, who have said it is 4 persons to an elevator. Taking the stairs is obviously recommended and I expect that limited capacity will create lines. However, if we are talking about fully vaccinated cruises, there will be no social distancing requirements so there shouldn’t be limited elevator capacity. kearney Posted June 1, 2021 #9 Share Posted June 1, 2021 If fully vaccinated I assume they go by the fully vaccinated guidance.. which is no social distancing required, I hope there won't be an issue, DH needs a scooter... I can and likely will take the stairs... at least for a few flights... but sure hope he will be on the floor when I get there 🙂

I think you’re correct. Once again you will be able to try for the record for how many people you can fit into an elevator.

bikerunner Posted June 2, 2021 #13 Share Posted June 2, 2021 This will cause some people to be quite cranky if it is enforced. Many people are to much in a hurry and need to get to there "spot" on pool deck and or bar. I tend to mostly take the stairs as I need to have the exercise. I know this is not an option for some people with mobility issues. These are all changes cruising will have to work out as they come back on line and allow ships to sail. Lots of details to figure out. Not as big of an issue with limited ships passengers for now but could cause potential conflicts down the line.
