Change to the casino smoking policy?

Recommended Posts

On the Adventure now and there are smokers there in the casino. They were sitting at machines but didn't pay attention if they were playing. Saw someone on the Odessey in coco can smoking on the balcony. I thought they banned that or is it allowed in port?

Never allowed at any time!

Shouldn't be a space that hast be shared with others. I don't have a problem with a dedicated smoking lounge.

Me too. We used to actively smoke (quit 3 years ago). Maybe a pack a day each. When we smoked we probably couldn't go on nonsmoking cruise at all, however we did not have a problem to smoke in remote locations. I think smokers should have their space, just not where other people are (especially inside of the ship)

Agreed.   Since COVID is a respiratory disease, they had the perfect opportunity.  So it suggests to me, Royal will not be changing its smoking policy any time soon.

Guess they should redo their entire culinary menu as well... lots of unhealthy food on a cruise ship.

Never allowed....however frequently done.  They take quick action if caught, but if no one complains it continues.

I wouldn't know about frequently. I would have no problem ratting out a balcony smoker. Oh wait, I have with success. 😂

For years after every cruise when I was competing my survey, I had strong negative comments re smoking in the casino.  One our British Isles cruise the weather wasn’t great so people stood in the entrance to the casino and actively smoked. The casino was in the centrum.  You could smell smoke on every floor. It became so bad in there they had a fan blowing the air from the casino into the centrum at one point! A few in our group left that cruise with respiratory infections.

Surprisingly after our Allure cruise in August, there was a question where I could check smoking as a negative somewhere in the survey. It was the first time I have ever seen that. I know people need to smoke, but it would be good for all if they had a place they could smoke that was not connected to the ship, but not in the elements outside.

I guess my biggest issue is that many people die from second hand smoke each year. I would really love to be in a smoke free Casino. Instead I limit my time when onboard.

I remember we were on The Grandeur of the Seas and they had these smoke eater machines all over the place and it seemed to make it a bit better.

You would think that with Covid they would make smoking an outside only event.

We were on the Allure in 2018 and went through the casino to a show on that floor by mistake , there were people smoking everywhere and the smell of the smoke was so bad it lingered over to the non smoking section. Horrible, I said to my husband, I feel like I got lung cancer just going through there!  It was gross!!! Not sure how it is now, but  I will never make that mistake again!

Oh brother.

Nice what's your strategy? Are you a pass or don't pass kind of player?  Horn and Proposition Bets ?

Pass line, max odds when point established…bet on 5 through 9..I stay away from the one roll prop bets..know when to walk from a cold table…but if numbers are rolling, don’t be afraid to press up a unit…a bet for the dealers on the pass line can bring good karma…

False equivalency. A smoker produces second-hand smoke, which harms others. Unhealthy food hurts only the person who eats it, not the person sitting next to them.

"Hot & cold" tables are only in one's imagination. The outcome of a completed roll has no bearing on any future roll. Unless the dice are fixed, and btw, controlled rolling is a myth, every roll produces random results.

I play similar but just usually do a place bet on the 6 and 8.

Smoking is allowed, and yes even with the printed new "policy" there will still be some smoking without being at an active game, and RCI will say nothing. See, when my partner and I are at a slot on the non-smoking side, and he or I, decides it is time for a cigarette and goes to the smoking side to have one while not actively gaming, and then come back... they will not stop us from doing so. I promise you!  As far as smokers being in there when it is closed...well that will continue as well, and I am not quite sure how that affects non smokers, as they have no reason to be in the casino when it is closed anyway.

If you don't like smoke, stay out of smoking areas... end of story. We would never smoke in a place that is non-smoking, but we will also not accommodate those that are in a smoking area, and bothered by it. Personal responsibility.

Did you not read the example above regarding a button popping off the buffet glutton and putting out somebody’s eye?

Unless the dice pop off the table and the shooter fails to call for “same dice.” If that happens you know the devil will show much quicker than probability dictates.

IMO, RC casinos are always going to be a smoking lounge. Separate section is a joke.  The casino isn't ever closed. If it was then smokers would be forced outside to smoke. As they should be.  The casino is shut down at certain times for gambling. Depending on the ship, some like to walk thru the casino to get another location/venue. As it should be. RC needs to follow Celebrity's lead concerning no inside smoking, period!

Agree non smokers need to avoid  smoking areas, no matter where on the ship. But that's not always possible. Looks radicicolous when a non smoker is waving their arms around and pulling faces when they are in a smoking area, no matter where that might be. IMO, the casino is a joke when it comes to nonsmoking and smoking section. The ships ventilation systems suck at trying to remove the smoke and the  stench from the cigarettes.
