Good afternoon.

It is currently 55°F cloudy but dry.

We had a nice church service this morning and I said prayers 🙏 for our care list.

Thank you Rich for an interesting daily.

Thank you Roy for your sterling work in keeping all the lists updated.

Emergency nurses are invaluable when we need them.

I am rarely sceptical of things as I believe what people tell me unless I know differently.

Interesting quote,food and drink.

Never been to today's port so looking forward to seeing photos.

Take care everyone and best wishes to all those currently or soon to be cruising.

Graham.

I have a different viewpoint of Coquimbo in 2012 because we had a shuttle bus take us further from the port.  I'll post a few of those photos next.

Thanks Sandi.

I actually had a nice chat with our vicar David this morning about the care list on HAL.

David kindly WhatsApps us every Sunday Sermon which I forward to a lovely CC member from Texas on a Floataway thread that I post on every day.

Good Morning everyone! Thank you Rich for the Daily Report, and thank you Roy for the Cares and Celebrations Report. And thank you everyone for caring and sharing!

A bit late with signing on. I needed to respond to an email as I am the treasurer for a local museum.

Thank you to the Emergency Room Nurses today - and every day.

Today is also "National M&M's Day"  Remember "Melts in Your Mouth, not in Your Hands!"

Good morning from central Texas where we still haven't gotten the predicted rain.  🤣

It's going to be a busy morning, so I'll post some pictures from Coquimbo when we were there in 2015 on the Ruby Princess.  We did a tour that had an over view of Coquimbo, and took us to La Serena where we visited a Pisco vineyard and distillery, and then to Vicuna.

Good morning, Friends. Thank you for the Daily, the Lists and the RecipesRecipes.

A huge shout out of gratitude to all emergency nurses. Fossils are interesting and can teach us a lot. I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt in people and most situations, but I feel like I am becoming more and more skeptical as time goes by.

The meal sounds good, looking forward to the recipe.recipe.

Well, CC seems to not want to let me tag anyone this morning. (Minor compared to what some of you have been experiencing.)

DH did not sleep well, (a lot of coughing), which means I didn't either. (I've been awake since 1:45.) The doctor had told him the cough would subside, which it has, but could return in full force off and on for a while. So, I don't know how much progress will be made today. Maybe a rest day is in order.

Wishing each of you a beautiful day.

🙏 and 🎉 for those on our lists.

Sending you both our prayers and best wishes that your DH cough is short lived and doesn't come back

Graham.

Good Morning!

Thanks for The Daily and all who contribute to it.  Sure wish we could get that doggone care list whittled down.  Anyway, cheers to those on the celebratory list and healing thoughts to those on the care list.

We were in LaSerena/Coquimbo on 12/20/13 during our LA to Rio cruise on the Golden Princess. We took a ship tour "City Drive & Archaeological Museum".

Sandi, when we saw this it reminded DH and I of the ship Oregon from the Clive Cussler book series "The Oregon Files".  Everywhere we see an old derelict like this we say "must be the Oregon". 🤣

Our 2012 trip to Coquimbo on Star Princess included a shuttle bus to drive us to the La Serena area.  When we were dropped off it was rather quiet but things moved along as the morning went on.  Our friend who was also on this cruise looked hard for a place to make a phone call to her mother who was not in the greatest health.  She eventually found a place where you could rent a computer or place phone calls using her calling card.  At that time a lot of us didn't have cell phones with international calling plans.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLNswgGTnV3IqerWu36mMu4?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1332643714

You can see how deserted the streets and parks were. 00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJX783n4lTiwsn59hV48bt4?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1332643715

We decided the gardeners here didn't want their flowers eaten by hungry marauders and placed sticker bush branches over them.  What do you think about that idea, garden club members?  00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKSNScOLmzNM42PAxL6XrdC?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1332643730

William Shatner — who gained international fame playing the iconic role of Captain Kirk on "Star Trek" — will make a very real trek to outer space today, if only for a brief suborbital joyride aboard a New Shepard rocket. It's the same one that took Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos to space this summer.

Their flight is slated to take off from Blue Origin's launch facilities in West Texas at 8:30 am CT on Wednesday, a 24-hour delay from the original schedule due to rough winds in the area.
A joyride aboard a Starfleet spaceship, it will not be. Rather, the group will strap themselves inside a capsule that sits atop Blue Origin's 60-foot-tall New Shepard rocket, which will soar up to about three times the speed of sound and reach more than 62 miles high before coming immediately back down to Earth. From beginning to end, the trip will take about 10 minutes.

Good morning  everyone. ER nurses deserve many, many days of recognition. I am enjoying the  pictures of the port and look forward to trying the recipe soon. Thanks to all.

@mamaofami,I am so sorry  about your ongoing  situation  with Sam.I remember  having to replace several aides when  DH was ill and it added a lot of stress  to an already difficult  situation.I hope all goes well with you.

@dfish,I really hope you had a pain free night and that the ablation  helps. It is so difficult  to live with nerve pain. And the recipes rock!

Thank you for the hump day Daily, Rich.  Fossils have a special place in learning our history.  Skepticism is great where appropriate but can be carried to extremes.  Emergency nurses deserve a day every day, especially in these times.  Both of the Louis XIV reconciliations can be challenging.  I've been to Coquimbo but I think only on Crystal Symphony.  Chicken Posole sounds interesting but I think I'll stick with my alternative,  Chilled Sour Cherry Soup, Chicken Tikka, and Blackberry Crisp as served on MS Amsterdam October 13. 2017.

Good morning.  Emergency Nurses deserve such a big thank you.  I'm not sure about Skeptics day (lol) and loved looking for Fossils when we were in Colorado.

Interesting quote and meal.  Have not been to todays destination.

Heard this morning that the Canadian/US border will open!

Prayers and toasts to our lists.  Virtual hugs to all of us.

Please continue to stay safe, social distance, and wear your mask.

Bobby Burns:

Ingredients
1 ounce blended scotch whisky (ideally a 12-year-old)
1 ounce sweet vermouth (such as Noilly Prat rouge)
1/2 ounce Benedictine
Garnish: lemon peel

Steps
Add the scotch, vermouth and Benedictine to a mixing glass with ice and stir until well-chilled.
Strain into a cocktail glass.
Twist a lemon peel over the glass to release its oils and then drop it into the drink.

Good Morning All,

The sun is slowly coming up here and it’s feeling like Fall. I’m sure summer will return around noon. Our GC is coming today to determine HIS next steps. He still has to grade ( remove about 4” of heavy clay from the site) and trench for the electrical. I’m wanting him to put off the pour ( and associated forms) until we can get someone out to do the irrigation ( which goes UNDER the new slab. I might start digging later today. The most promising landscaper says he’ll have a bid “ soon”. It was promised the beginning of this week….  Patience isn’t my strong suit.

@mamaofami Hoping the next couple weeks go smoothly for you. It stinks that the agency didn’t check for fully vaccinated status, as you had let them know the requirement previously. But if he truly did real quarantine (no contact with others) for 2 weeks, there’s likely little chance he’s picked up Covid and exposed you, despite the close contact. (Obviously there was at least a trip somewhere to get the vaccine….). (My last assignment prior to retirement from our LHD was doing case investigation. It amazing what some people consider quarantine, and others deserve medals for being so strict.). Anyway, hoping you soon won’t need an aid. 😀

@StLouisCruisers    You are making me want to get on a ship. ( At least one in the days BC)

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning! Enjoyed our Pinnacle Grill dinner last night and returned this morning for breakfast. Sitting out on our Verandha couch and the sounds of the ship cutting through the ocean may put me asleep before I finish.

After over a week aboard I questioned is there a difference in being in a Pinnacle Suite? I think yes as it appears everyone knows who you are and where your staying. Example. Last night we were having pre dinner drinks in the Pinnacle Bar when the Executive Chef pops in walks over to us, introduces himself, knows are name and ask how is everything going and has a lengthy conversation. Never had that happen.

When we returned to the ship yesterday the wine police were at security charging cover charges to anyone returning with wine. There back!

Going to a lecture in a bit so will sign off for now from the beautiful MS Nieuw Amsterdam.

Thanks to all.

Good morning again.  Taking a break before I finish my chores for today.

Emergency nurses along with all nurses deserve to honored.  Our neighbor in Quartzsite was an ER nurse for many years.  Last winter, after being retired for many years, she volunteered to administer Covid vaccines in Idaho where they spend the summers.  I agree with @rafinmd Roy that skeptism can go too far at times.  Fossils are always interesting.

Not particularly fond of Louis XIV's quote.

While the meal sounds interesting, it will have to wait for another day.  I'll pass on the drink, but have enjoyed the wine before.

@JAM37  Hope your DH's cough goes away soon.

@VMax1700  Colin, I hope your back and ankle are better today.

Now it's time to get back to my chores.

Good morning everyone from the beautiful Koningsdam!  We sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge at 6:38 am.

Right now we are eating breakfast in Club Orange, or as Craig calls it, Orange Club. 🤣  One annoying thing — there is a man who FaceTime’s his wife while he eats and, of course, is very loud.

Our cabin is on the port side and we will have a lovely view of the city. I’ll try to post a picture later.  We have lunch reservations at 11:00 and a tour at 12:30. I’m not sure how we are going to do both.

Have a great day everyone!

I totally forgot about our 2 bottles of wine at embarkation in San Diego and we checked that bag instead of carrying it on board. The wine was taken out and that bag was hand delivered and we were told that the 2 bottles would be held until the end of the cruise. I asked if we could pay corkage and get them now. Finally we were given permission to do that. I tried to get my 2 bottles free but it didn’t work. Weird because there wasn’t a desk at embarkation to declare wine. Oh well, I wasn’t going to push the issue.

Good morning and thanks all!   We need to be so thankful for all nurses right now,  especially the ER and  ICU nurses!  One of our dear friends who we met on HAL is one.

I love fossils,  our son has a dinosaur tooth.  We live near where there have been a lot of dinosaur fossils.  I have my ammolite in shiny form and I treasure an unusual creature I found just before our last cruise on England’s Jurassic coast.
