Does fluid pricing happen during the reservation period ?

The cruise I reserved on Wednesday is now £140pp more than the price I agreed and I paid the deposit based on

I've just noticed that the cruise we have in mind has gone down £90pp since Thursday, I wasn't going to pre-register but considering it now

I suspect both will be IT glitches  or maybe on one of them you forgot to login so it did not subtract the further 5% discount?

Just checked and the price is back to what I paid.

Must have been some IT glitch.

Perhaps they are trialling out a new game show format. Prices change every few minutes, you keep logging on to check and when you see a price you are willing to pay, you press the button to book it and hope nobody has beaten you to it. If somebody does beat you, you cannot log in again until the next day as punishment for failure.

It would have been nice for one of the P&O ships to have called at Madeira on

New Years eve .We did a cruise that did a few years back and the fire works made

for a memorable cruise at New Year .

Arcadia is doing the Canaries cruise over Xmas and stopping overnight in Madeira for NYE in 2023.

I think you still get launch price, or you used to, you have to wait an extra day or so to book so have less chance of getting a cabin you want. We are Caribbean and have to wait till 23rd Nov as opposed to sales opening on 22nd.

The on sale date for Caribbean tier is 22nd Nov.

Thanks for that, I just rechecked our tier and we are Mediterranean which explains why we were told 23rd Nov. We should be Caribbean but with 3 missed cruises have not moved on yet.

I thought I remembered that when pre-registering online one could specify whether one wanted on-board spend, free parking or free coach travel as one's "perk", but I couldn't see an option to do that this time. Did I miss something, or is that no longer an option?

When I phoned to pre register a suite for us and an inside for my son, the P&O agent said she would leave the OBC on our suite and the free parking on our son’s inside cabin because financially that was the better option.

Seems P&O are just catering for the masses now. E.g. not one cruise in 2023 to Oslo. No early December Christmas markets cruise to Scandinavia (which always seemed popular with all ages). Just the same ships doing the same routes for months on end. Fine if you want Spain/Portugal, Canaries, Summer Fjords and Caribbean. Hardly anything else now.

Probably the market is now flooded with other cruise lines going to Oslo and Christmas markets

We booked onboard for our next Caribbean cruise is the any financial benefits to swap to a travel agent

There certainly can be. Worth contacting a cruise specialist TA to see if they can give you a better price than P&O if you transfer the booking to them. They have certainly been able to do so in the past.

The first time we booked onboard we thought we were booking directly with P&O, when we got home we rang them as we had not received any notification. We were told that we had been booked with the TA for that cruise, so rang said TA who had got our details but just not sent our confirmation. I pointed out that it seemed strange that P&O had not booked us direct as there would have been no need for them to pay commission to the TA and was told that was just how it worked. The same thing has happened since. So I asked the TA to share the commission with us, they eventually agreed to give us £50 pp discount, so worth the call.

Interesting you think that, but the port schedules don’t agree. E.g. December 2022 Oslo has just one visit, by Arcadia on the Christmas cruise.  Princess and Fred are not sailing there. Fred do have one to Gothenburg, Copenhagen & Hamburg in early Dec 2022, If they do similar in 2023 I may consider that and desert P&O

Well that's the first new cruise for 2023 booked direct with P&O.  Phoned at 8.35, deposit taken and call finished in 15 minutes.  My first choice cabin was already taken, so had the one next door.  Price was still the same as when released last week.

Now I have 2 weeks to decide which Northern Lights cruise to do on Arcadia in late 2023.

I was pleasantly surprised that the P&O website wasn't having as much of a meltdown as I anticipated it would.

First choice of cruise / cabin at a great price considering single supplementation.   Worked out the same price as a TA, with the same OBC and P&O wanted a smaller deposit.   Happy.  Just waiting on Cunard to release QM2's for 2023.

Obviously not as popular hence no visits
