ArthurUSCG Posted December 10, 2021 #29 Share Posted December 10, 2021 I'm kind of curious what the atmosphere of ships will be like. It's either going to be laid back or a 2 day tailgate. I'm guessing for the first night it will be a massive tailgate party and the next day will be split between a/2 the passengers drinking Bloody Mary's or screwdrivers and the other 1/2 pounding ibuprofen.
bgoff60 Posted December 10, 2021 #30 Share Posted December 10, 2021 Seems really pricey for a 2 day cruise...What is the value proposition in their business model?

Wonder if that was them testing them out. I miss their margaritas on board. 😔

Had it not been going to Cuba, I would not have picked that refurbished ship to sail on… If Empress was not going to Cuba it would have continued to be a cockroach infested Pullmantur ship. gatour Posted December 11, 2021 #35 Share Posted December 11, 2021 Also keep in mind BCL had a deal with one or two hotels on the island where people can take the ship to Grand Bahama, stay at one of the hotels for a few days and then take the ship back on a later sailing I won't be surprised if one of the hotels are rebranded as a Margaritaville Hotel. Biker19 Posted April 7, 2022 #36 Share Posted April 7, 2022 Prepare to change your attitude by changing latitudes when the first cruise ship from Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville brand sets sail out of the Port of Palm Beach, Florida, on April 30. While Margaritaville resorts have long been popular among parrotheads and pirates, the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise, described in a press release as a "floating island vacation at sea," is the brand's first venture into open ocean. A massive flip-flop sculpture welcomes guests aboard, encouraging anyone who has not yet shed their sneakers to go ahead and do so. The ship features 658 laid-back yet luxe cabins with nautical details and tropical colors inspired by the sea, sand, and sky. Expect lots of parrots, anchors, and beach vibes incorporated into the décor, plus cabin walls lined with maps of islands on and around the equator. Some cabins have a balcony or a porthole looking out on the ocean, while interior cabins have no windows (but benefit from the lowest rates). And because it's always five o'clock aboard the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise, drink packages are available from $99 for 10 drinks (margaritas are best sipped at the rooftop Chill Bar, where there's nothin' but a breeze). Other on-ship highlights include various dining venues, like the upscale JWB Prime Steakhouse, as well as pools, entertainment programming, retail stores, a St. Somewhere Spa, and even a Fins Up! Fitness Center, should you need to sweat out that cheeseburger in paradise. The Margaritaville at Sea Paradise will debut as the only three-day, two-night cruise sailing round-trip from Palm Beach to Freeport in The Bahamas. Cruisers also have the option to extend their vacation with a four- or six-night stay at one of two beachfront resorts on Grand Bahama Island. When the cruise wraps up, you'll return to Palm Beach renewed (and maybe a little hungover). There are still rooms available on the inaugural Margaritaville at Sea Paradise sailing. Rare graphicguy Posted April 7, 2022 #37 Share Posted April 7, 2022 Gotta love Jimmy. I think he’s a helluva song writer (or at least used to be). He parlayed a couple of decent (not great) songs into an empire…..Margaritaville and Cheeseburger. Those weren’t even his best songs. He turned that into a chain of mediocre and overpriced restaurants. And now, looks like he’s doing the same for a cruise ship. To answer the question, will it affect Royal? Not even an itty-bitty, teeny-tiny bit. Nor will it affect NCL, or Carnival, or MSC, or Costa, or Celebrity….it won’t affect any of them.
ALWAYS CRUZIN Posted April 7, 2022 #38 Share Posted April 7, 2022 Why would it have any impact at all? It has been doing the same 2 nighter for a few years. We will try it and see if the changes will make it better or not. Maybe the food will be a lot better. The slot tournament before was to win tickets to play at the slots. Never was able to play bingo, 2 or 3 showed up. Bar drinks were strong. Pre mixed drinks were terrible. Slots were fun but minimal choice of machines. So we will see what the changes might be. Expensive. Able to get 3 nights for the same price on major clines. However, many can only get away for two. That is who they cater to.
