Thanks for our Hump Day Daily, Rich 🙂

Can’t celebrate National Eat Outside Day here - it’s pouring rain.  I’ll celebrate a day late tomorrow, hopefully 🤞 But I’ll gladly celebrate memoirs day 👍

Love the Frost quote - so true.

The meal recommendation sounds good and is great reheated.  Don’t forget to save any leftovers.

Well, it’s going to be a t-stormy kind of weather with torrential rain - at least, that’s what the weatherman says and it’s certainly raining out there.  It’s my second visit to the grief counsel chat today and it’s the second time we’ve had the same weather.  Grrr.  Is someone trying to tell me something?  Oh well, maybe the rain will wash away some of the dog poo that ignorant people don’t pick up.  (One of my biggest beefs - how hard is it to stick a couple of dog bags in your pocket and pick it up? We always did it).

Not much on my plate today otherwise except to start the transition of plates and glasses from downstairs to up, clean a smidge and keep those cruise spread sheets up to date.  Busy, busy, roll calls 😉

Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list.

Have a great Wednesday everyone !!!!!!

Thank you for the Hump Day report Rich, on this 25th anniversary of Diana's death.  I've been eating outside a lot the last 2 years but not so much as the heat has been terrible.  Trail mix is much appreciated and Memoirs are great contributors to our awareness.  I've been to Manta several times and the quote is quite interesting; I think I agree.  The meal sounds nice.

Today’s care list:

HAL Sailer Sister in Law recovering from cancer surgery, poor biopsy and making hard decisions
Marshhawk’s friend Jessee with throat cancer

Sandi’s neighbors David (RIP) and Linda in critical condition

Strength for smitty34877's family

Horizon Chaser 1957 needing new treaatment for arthritis
The locks at Ijmuiden(Rotterdam diverted to at least 9/11)
Cruisin Terri worsening multi-site  pain
Dfish poor experience with surgeon
From the rotation:
Tana with persistent problems although somewhat better
Atrex6 Father severely declining
Strength and healing (physical and emotional) for Kazu
Cruising-along niece awaiting a kidney

Celebrations and Shoutouts:

Welcome back gigianne

Rowsby in Hawaii until 9/28
Tiogacruiser stepping up to cover wines  for cat shepard
4 days for cat shepard (Nieuw Amsterdam 9/4 to 9/11)
Horizon Chaser 1957 back on the mainland

Good afternoon.

It is wet and 62°F here.

Many thanks to Rich for today's fleet reports and Daily.

Thanks too to Roy for daily updating the various lists.

Trail mix is a healthy snack meal.

We love eating outside whenever possible.

Memoir's can be extremely interesting reading.

Today's food sounds nice.

Never been to today's port so photos will be appreciated.

Kind thoughts extended for better health for everyone on the care list.

It is pleasing to see so many celebrating cruising.

Wishing everyone a healthy and happy day.

Take care.

Graham.

Good morning.  Thanks for the Daily Fleet Report.  Happy Hump Day!

A bright and slightly cool morning.  Should get to 25C (77F) this afternoon.  A lovely day to eat outdoors except for all the yellow jackets that buzz around.  Hubby loves trail mix.

Love the quote.

The meal sounds good, looking forward to see the recipe and saving it until fall.

Hope the drink is tasty.  The wine sounds good too.

Prayers for everyone on the Care List.  Cheers for all the celebrations.

Stay safe.

Thanks for the Fleet update and other things. Wondering where I have been the last few days. I plain just ran out of materials. Right! Actually working outside all day repairing damage done to residence from lightning strike three weeks ago. It been so much fun; much funner than being on this thread each day. Wrong!

As far as National Trail Mix Day. Hum, hum. Give me the Appalachian Trail with some mix and I am just fine.

Good morning friends!  Prayers said, treadmill complete, breakfast eaten.  The temp at breakfast was 70F with 100% humidity.  Same thing every day.  Thanks Rich  for @richwmn the Daily and Fleet Report.  I like the days we're celebrating, trail mix day, eat outside day (no thanks!), and loving memoirs day.  The quote is nice, and I could enjoy the tortellini soup if someone prepared it.  For instance a ship's chef!  Thanks Roy @rafinmd for the Care and Celebration lists.  We still have so many on the prayer list, but at least we have happy people celebrating good things in their lives.  🙏

Manta, Ecuador was port of the day on Dec. 7, 2021.  It was listed on page 30 of Rich's posting activity and here is a link to that post if you need it.

Here are some photos I took while in Manta on Star Princess in 2012.  It seems we took a tour which first stopped at a museum and then went out into the countryside to see the home and work of a Panama hat maker.  Yes, they are made in Ecuador not Panama!  Funny thing is I don't remember the stop at the museum at all, but I have photos of it so I guess it really happened.  🙃00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJT4sGR3alVvQSssvyPSbSO?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1638884294

Once in a while a huge frozen tuna would miss the opening on the top of the container and fall to the ground.  Clunk!!  Didn't seem to hurt them much, so they just picked them up and tossed them back up there.  What an entertaining way to spend the afternoon.

Thank you Rich for the Daily Report, thank you Roy for the Cares and Celebration Report, and thank you Debbie for today's recipes. And thank you all for being here!

Never received a phone call as requested from our new PCC. I guess, try again.

The roof inspector came on Monday as scheduled. He is an impartial inspector using the Hayes method although hired by the insurance company. He did not give us any real indication what he found other than the workmanship and integrity of our current roof was very good. Also commented that it is important to find a good roofing company, even if you need to wait for scheduling. He has seen some new roof compromised by three years time. We will see what the insurance adjustor says.

Stay Safe!

Good morning. We had a wonderful reunion with our house guest and it was a heck of a trip down memory lane. I don’t think we’ll be dining outside today with temps in the nineties. It has been another adjustment after those cool mornings and lighter temps in Scotland and Norway.

Not much on the agenda today but might go and get a new smart phone as the old one still is not holding a charge and I do want the new camera features. Other then high speed pictures and enhanced telephoto’s my I Phone is sufficient.

Continued prayers for those in need along with a big thank you for all who contribute to our Daily read.

Enjoy the moment!

Good morning, everyone!

It is a cool start to the day but should be sunshiny bright and warm up to a reasonable temperature.  One more day of painting and then I take off to Michigan to go house hunting.

Tortellini are pasta originally from the Italian region of Emilia (in particular Bologna and Modena). Traditionally they are stuffed with a mix of meat (pork loin, raw prosciutto, mortadella), Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, egg and nutmeg and served in capon broth.

The origin of tortellini is disputed; both Bologna and Modena, cities in Italy's Emilia-Romagna region, claim to be its birthplace. OxfordDictionaries.com traces the etymology of tortellini to the diminutive form of tortello, itself a diminutive of torta ("cake" or "pie" in Italian).

The recipe for a dish called "torteletti" appears in 1570 from Bartolomeo Scappi. Vincenzo Tanara's writings in the mid-17th century may be responsible for the pasta's renaming to tortellini. In the 1800s, legends sprang up to explain the recipe's origins, offering a compromise. Castelfranco Emilia, located between Bologna and Modena, is featured in one legend, in which Venus stays at an inn. Overcome by her beauty, the innkeeper spies on her through a keyhole, through which he can only see her navel. He is inspired to create a pasta in this shape. This legend would be at the origin of the term "ombelico di Venere" (Venus' navel), occasionally used to describe tortellini.[4] In honor of this legend, an annual festival is held in Castelfranco Emilia. Another legend posits that the shape comes from Modena's architecture, which resembles a turtle.

This first recipe is a lightened up version, meaning it only calls for 1/3 cup of heavy cream.  The crushed red pepper flakes give it a little bite.  https://www.aspicyperspective.com/creamy-chicken-tortellini-soup/

We visited Manta, Ecuador, on the Zaandam in April of 2019. We took the HAL excursion called "Machallila".

The excursion consisted of some time at a very nice beach for swimming and just hanging out, a museum tour, a walk through the woods, and a poolside lunch.

Happy Hump Day!  Thank you for the Daily Reports Rich.   @StLouisCruisersthanks for the photos of Manta.   We will be stopping there in January 2023.   The soup looks all look wonderful!  I think the wine may be okay too. Pass on the drink in advance. If the wind isn't blowing 20+ mph as it did yesterday it will be warm enough to eat on our porch. Pulled pork nachos tonight, working on emptying the freezer and the pantry and use the salsa we made from excess tomatoes. Prayers for all on @rafinmd care list, thank you for noting all going on.  Prayers for all on our Care list. Prayers for the people of Ukraine and Micael Gorbachov who helped free a lot of countries from Soviet oppression. 🙏🇺🇦

A day of cutting back plants, some are so fragrant. I have so many catmint and artemesia they waft into the open windows at night. Have a great day!

Good Morning from a warm and sunny day at the beach

We all really enjoy trail mix and we eat outside most days.

No success shoe shopping yesterday. I may just have to get sneakers which I really do not like.  ( for me)

We were successful in getting the visas for Australia and New Zealand yesterday.  Plus I was able to book our hotel in Sydney before our flight home. We had some difficulties with Flight Ease and finally we just moved everything to the day after debarkation. It will be much less stressful. They had us on a 11:30 am flight . There is no way we would have made that flight.

No definite schedule for the rocket launch, maybe Saturday.

@dfish Debbie I like the recipes today. Will tuck them away until it is cooler here.   Happy House hunting!

       Off to water aerobics

Stay safe and enjoy today

    Charlene

Bruce

If your current iPhone is otherwise sufficient you could get a new battery. I did that with my 6s and was pleased with the result. It lives on still because I have now set it up for dh. Just a thought and way cheaper than a new phone.

At Kristiansand, Norway, today, and rode the Setesdal railway. Many people were complaining about the short train ride (and longer bus ride to get to it), but the description was clear about the length of the surviving part of the historic narrow-gauge line. A beautiful sunny day, although things were damp from rain overnight.

I don’t have the ideal mix of clothing. Outdoors is OK, but I didn’t expect the public areas of the ship to be as frigid as they are.
