Dinner at Willie G’s

Located on Pier 21, Willie G’s is Galveston’s most popular seafood destination with waterfront dining.

Offering fresh seafood and steaks in an elegant setting. Guests admire scenic views of the ships coming into the harbor and request a seat on the patio year-round. We had a wonderful window table.

Love these lights!

Old Fashioned to start with Knob Creek bourbon.

Best Lobster Bisque I’ve ever had. Lots of chunks of lobster in this soup. Notice the proper color and not the brown sauce that Chops uses. This is a classic Lobster Bisque. Perfect.

Shrimp Fettuccine. Light sauce more like Alfredo’s in Rome and not heavy cream. Perfect for me tonight.

Linda had the Filet and really enjoyed it.

And we had to do it. Chocolate Explosion with White chocolate mousse, Chocolate mousse, cake with chocolate frosting on top. Wow a chocoholics dream.

Beautiful sunset at Pier 21.

A beautiful night. Unfortunately my shoulder is hurting pretty good. Since I only got 4 hours of sleep last night after my nice visit to the ER, time to go to bed. Big day tomorrow as we board Liberty. I hope we will be able to drop of luggage then park. I have limited mobility at the moment. Good night and thank you for following along.

Dinner looked amazing and ooh boy that chocolate cake looked scrumptious.

We all love Lobster Bisque in our family but not Royals version.

So far at the R-Bar a poor selection of Bourbons that will be available when we are 12 nautical miles out to sea.

JT ‘s Brown bourbon not a fan.

That's pretty poor.  Must be better options elsewhere.  I have faith in you!

Rooms! As solo I always defer to the Mrs. Linda gets the Balcony cabin 9404 with it’s great aft balcony.

Me in my he cheap Suite but actually a nice inside cabin right around the corner from Linda.

I understand why you booked the two different cabin categories you did, but do you actually stay in the separate cabins?

In the que for entry. Doors have not opened yet. But at least I got a seat on a bench and talking to a wonderful lady who is on her first ever cruise after her husband passed away in March. He always wanted us to go on a cruise she said. I told her she will love cruising and that her husband would want her to be happy and would be smiling down on her. She agreed. She said she was a little nervous being a solo and I told her people are very friendly on board and she would have no problems making new friends. We had a nice talk. I hope I relieved any of her fears.

Awwwww……what a sweet way to start your cruise 🙂

Where’s a Playmaker’s when you need one. Couldn’t find a place showing Chiefs/Bills game so we got some cocktails and watching it in Linda’s room. Which also serves as our sail away view on the aft balcony.

Good luck @bobmacliberty I think you will get the best of the Chiefs today but you will prevail. You have the better team this year.

Would it be possible to sneak into Linda's cabin for a bit of fresh air?😉

Yes we are planning on that. She has a great balcony.

We both snore so even though we brought the Bose Sleep buds to drown each other out we may sleep separately. We are old and married, no big deal anymore. 😘 Except for our 25th anniversary night.

convert that European outlet at 230v to 120v plus have two usb ports.

Have a couple of those, too.  I ended up not using them on the last cruise because I brought a couple of 3-outlet USB fast chargers so I had plenty of plugs.

I am thinking about this two-room thing you do.  We always sail in suites for the extra room, but It'd be nice to get the extra points and have two bathrooms,  Hmm....

When is your 25 th anniversary ?  I would use your inside cabin as one big closet . There’s a law of physics that states nature abhors a vacuum . That “closet”  would not go to waste. There is never enough closet space.

May be best to sleep together incase you decide to do another walk on the wild side between 2am and 5am..............Someone will be near by to catch your fall if need be. 😉

I wanted to have a Kraken for you but they won’t release the Kraken monster until we are 25 nautical miles out to sea.

Greg, You already had your first Kraken... a Kraken your collarbone... 😆

Sorry, I couldn't resist... but truly sorry to hear about your accident... enjoy your cruise... and particularly your own private bathroom!

Speaking of archaic Texas liquor laws... bars & restaurants cannot serve beer or alcohol on Sundays before noon... unless it is accompanied by food between 10 am and noon. A bar inside a hotel can serve alcohol anytime (with the proper permit). I'm not sure where cruise ships fit inside these laws. But, you know Texas will get their state alcohol taxes (look for the TABC stamp on every bottle the ship serves inside the 12 mile limit). Just remember, we don't have a state income tax. We have to fill the coffers in some way.

Saw that. Going to see what Schooner Bar has tonight. So far not near the Bourbon/Whiskey selection I saw on Symphony 3 weeks ago.

Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll have some Pappy or Weller🤣!
