Good morning everyone.  Thanks for the daily report.  Fun group of days today.  The trails here are wet for sure after last evening’s rain, maybe a bike ride would be better.  Funny quote although it wouldn’t work for me as I’m programmed to wake up at six. I’d have the meal suggestion as a side dish.  The drink has potential from the name.  I have not been to today’s port.  Prayers for all on our list.  Cheers to those of you celebrating happy events today!

Good morning friends!  It's a beautiful morning, 60F with sunny skies and 86 predicted for the high.  A bit hot.  Thanks Rich @richwmn for our Daily and Fleet Report.

Good idea about the bike ride instead of the trail walk @Mr. Boston.  Our trails are dry though since the incessant rains seem to have stopped this past week.  Hopefully rain will come back soon.  Hope the Chinese Dragon Boat people have a good time.  I went to something like that once in Ann Arbor on their local river.  Very festive!  The Youngman quote is funny as usual.  No thanks to the risotto dish.  The drink sounds interesting and the Pinot Noir is good I'm sure but I don't like reds.  The day in history goes back a long time, and if people hadn't been interested in exploring this planet back then, where would we be now?  Thanks to our Food and Beverage ladies for their daily reports - Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope, and Ann @cat shepard.

Excellent job Vanessa @JazzyV on the C&C lists this morning.  Hope you are feeling okay!  Prayers for the Care list people and anyone else who may be in need.  Especially @1ANGELCAT and Annie @marshhawk.  Hurray for the Celebration list group who are either cruising or having happy events in their lives.  Enjoy smooth seas and many exciting adventures!

The port this morning is Dover, England.  We had that port once almost exactly one year ago on June 2, 2022!  I'll post the link below.  I notice I was on that Island Princess Covid cruise that day on my way to Reykjavik from Halifax.  Covid was beginning to rear its ugly head during those sea days but I didn't come down with it for about 10 more days.  I was unable to access my photos while on the ship so didn't post photos.  I'll go look for some now.

Hoping all of you enjoy your Saturday and stay safe and well.

Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie, and Ann.  I enjoy watching dragon boats, love trails but I think from now on need to only walk the best maintained or paved.  I was an avid bicyclist for about half a century but eventually gave it up.  Not sure sleeping late will help much in the long run if there are still consequences to deal with.  It sounds like the events 402 years ago today probably lead to the eventual establishment of Nieuw Amsterdam.  I have sailed from Dover twice on Crystal Symphony but the closest I've been on a BHB is boarding Prinsendam in Tilbury in 2011.  Yesterday was HOT here, today will be much more tolerable.  The meal sounds nice.  I'll pass on posting an alternative.

We had two wonderful days in Dover while sailing on Prinsendam, Sept. 2018 and May 2019.  The first time we took a double decker bus to the White Cliffs of Dover visitor center and began our hike along the trails there.  Here is our view though from the ship before we left it that morning.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKismqLU8pdUooE38uNyrIv?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1538525593

On the path you could see where the Prinsendam was docked (right) and over to Dover Castle.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKFg7Yun095xBpplfBAv938?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1538560978

We reached a photo spot where people were taking photos so of course did the same.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLpL_5Myy5bVMjDoY1PDVtn?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1538560991

There were horses in the area.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIocwvFrussgo5W_xrnDPtU?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1538525727

Lots more trail to go.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIu28s5ep2drKk2xXG1_5hU?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1538525867

At the end of the trail was the Victorian style lighthouse which of course had to have scaffolding around it to spoil the view.  00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIYgBhrG4__pfS3KTdz22o6?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1538561121

Knowing the schedule the bus had for returns we decided we'd better leave and hustle if we were going to make the next hourly ride.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKrsmtuBvNNO_LdzOlnDQXK?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1538561138

We could see the bus enter the parking lot from a quarter mile away, so broke into a jog and ran back just in time to jump onboard before the driver left.  Whew!  Thankfully we were five years younger then!  Nevertheless we enjoyed that visit to Dover.

I think I'll have breakfast now and take a look later for some photos from our 2019 visit when we stayed in town instead of walking the trails of the White Cliffs.

Good morning, everyone from the Seven Slot Grille in Reed City, Michigan.  Today is River's last soccer game so we got up before dawn to make the trek up here.

I'm posting and will be back later to read.  I agree that today's meal is more of a side dish.  I'd skip it due to carbs.  https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/a39562253/baked-risotto-recipe/

Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! Just a super quick post this morning. Off to the gym & Aldi, then lunch with neighbors, Bindi walks and charcuterie with wine at a friend’s this evening.

Vanessa thank you for keeping track of all of us.

Rippon Pinot Noir Central Otago Tinker's Field 2019

Another elusive NZ wine. This PN sounds lovely. No distributors appear to ship to me, but lots of them ship to Hong Kong with prices starting at $75.08.

Distributor notes

Rippon is a small but highly renowned biodynamic family estate, based in the subregion of Wanaka, Central Otago. This position means that the estate enjoys the same benefits of long sunshine hours and rain-shelter as the rest of Central Otago, but the unique proximity to Lake Wanaka provides a considerable moderating influence. The result is wines of less immediately overt ripeness, but of increased finesse and complexity. The wines often look more like their Alsatian or Burgundian counterparts, than that of their immediate neighbours, and they never sacrifice structure or tannin for immediate pleasure. As such, they will develop beautifully in a good cellar, whether red or white.

A unique parcel within Rippon, Tinker’s Field is a gentle, north facing slope formed by an ancient ejection cone of coarse schist gravels and is home to the oldest vines on the property. Also to note, the Pinot Noir with the highest acidity of the 19's here. Fermented with natural yeasts, with 25% whole clusters. Aged in French oak (only 17% new) for a total of 18 months before bottling unfined and unfiltered.

The Review:
94+ points, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front

A firm, structured release this year, indeed. Tasted over a few days to get the gist of it. Expressive and individual wine regardless.

It’s all about architecture and tension, firm ribbons of tannin and green-herbal elements over darker, sour-sweet cherry and brambly-undergrowth characters. All this wrapped up in a lithe, gossamer but steely-minerally and strict tannins. Amaro-like acidity feels so refreshing and life-affirming. It feels very much a wine that needs cellar time, it’s so strict and taut in this incarnation. Please, set some aside.

Beautiful day in Barcelona. Embarkation was swift and efficient. Barcelona was bustling with the Spanish Gran Prix this weekend and large concerts.

Only 500 guest on board this cruise.

Thanks for the report. Back to having fun.

@1ANGELCAT I am so sorry your black kitty failed to make it.  I really feel for you with two going so quickly and the empty house feeling.

@marshhawk I hope that you and your DH are beginning to feel better.

Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Reports @richwmn.   On the quote sleeping late isn't going to make it go away unless it is a hangover.  Total pass on the comestibles.  Melon drink, high carbs and I bet another hard to find vino.   Prayers for all on our Care list and the people of Ukraine.

 @Suslorand @aliaschief  Bon voyage!  🍾🛳️

We have another couple of hot days ahead of us but it will cool off for next week.  We got a little bit of rain Thursday but it appears the dry weather will continue.  Our trip to town went well and our food was excellent but the fried fish for first meal of the day upset my stomach.  I hope they get the road fixed soon because fishing is good when it is really hot and the bugs don't follow us out there.  Have a wonderful Saturday. Our second time in Dover was May 6, 2019 on Prinsendam once again.  We got on the shuttle bus to downtown and along the way saw this view of the Dover Castle on the hill, and a Banksy mural on a building.  00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJ7e9YfMCsfzu2x9uBi-86q?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1558793824

Here's a closer shot of it.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIzJMPk3yOc2zDX7nL7jQ_q?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1558785914

I have read that later in 2019 someone whitewashed over the mural which was worth plenty as most Banksy artwork is.  I haven't been able to figure out what has happened since it was whitewashed over so If anyone knows the latest, please let us know.

Good Morning, thanks for today’s report.  It’s a much cooler morning here and everything is soaked.  There is nothing on the agenda for today.  Today’s meal suggestion sounds interesting but will decide after @dfish shares pictures and recipes.  I suspect that we will go out for dinner today.

I hope everyone has a good day today.

Our favorite experience in Dover was finding the White Horse Inn when wandering around the town. It is a tavern from the late 1400's (I believe) that allows English Channel swimmers to sign the walls and ceilings with their names and dates of their successful crossings. There was a group from Philadelphia that had made the swim and were signing the ceiling that day. Pretty cool.

Good Morning to All!!  Love the days - watched Dragon Boat Festivals while I lived in China.  They were cool!  And I need to start riding a bike!!

I love risotto but baked?  Hmmmm.  Wish I could see the White Cliffs of Dover some day!!

Off to day 3 of my adventure.  I am having a great time.  Heading up towards Nashville.  Let's see where I lay my head tonight.

Boy, Texans drive big trucks!!  That seem to be all I saw.  Went on the toll road out of Dallas; didn't mean to but somehow I did.  I guess I will owe the State of Texas some money!!

Thoughts for the care list.  @1ANGELCAT I am so sorry about your loss.  I am a cat lover and I dread the day Martina decides it is time to leave me.

Have a great day everyone!!

Good morning everyone,

Not much going on here this week; the big event was a dental appointment.  In keeping with yesterday, I have never met a dentist I even liked, personally and professionally; that is all I am going to say about that!  😜 IMO, you are lucky if you find a dentist that is good.

My thanks to all who have or will contribute to today's FR & D and all of the supporting departments...

@JazzyV, @Oceansaway17 and @marshhawk, welcome home from your vacations. Travel can be tough on a body, I know. Hope you feel better each day now that you are home.

Bon Voyage @Suslor and @aliaschief!

Prayers for all and cheers for those celebrating.

Have a good weekend.

Take care and stay safe.

Caron

Good morning to all,

I hope everyone is having a good day.  It is a beautiful sunny day here in the Low Country of South Carolina.

We leave for London two weeks from today.  Thankfully we have flights to get us there.

We board the Oceania Marina on June 21 and will be on her for 32 days as we sail around the Baltic Sea.

Thank you Rich for getting us started every day.   Interesting collection of days.  The only one I can identify with is Bicycling.  However, I haven’t done that in a while.

I like the quote.

Debbie, the meal sounds good and I may think about trying it.  The wine is a bit above my budget right now.  The drink is a maybe.

Prayers for all on the cares list.  @smitty34877 I hope DH is recovering well.  Prayers for him. @marshhawk Hope you are feeling better and soon will have Covid behind you.

@aliaschief Bon Voyage.  Hope you enjoy your cruise.

We departed from Dover once on the Insignia.  I tried to post some photos of the White Cliffs as we sailed away but they don’t show up.  Sorry.

Hope everyone has a nice Saturday and a pleasant weekend.

God Bless,

Terri
