Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Tina, Dixie, and Ann.  This was a great day for our war wounded back in 1864.  While the tooth fairy has had some recent opportunities she's been stingy lately.  I'll celebrate Angels but have no idea what a Hoodie Hoo is.  I have never heard of Halibut Point.  Interesting quote by Lewis.  I'll pass on the meal.  My alternative is Mixed Gourmet Greens, Chilled Raspberry Soup, Roasted Poik Loin with Apple-Cranberry Spiced Chutney and Tiramisu which I enjoyed August 22, 2014 on MS Statendam.

Looks like a busy day with getting up to speed on my medical device, banking, shopping and who knows what else.

This simple and delicious Shrimp Taco Salad can easily be whipped up in under 30 minutes and is topped with a creamy cilantro lime dressing that sounds delicious.  It uses medium shrimp which makes them bite sized in the salad. You could use taco seasoning packets, but instead try a handful of simple spices: chili powder, garlic powder, oregano, cumin, paprika and just a touch of cayenne.  Full of flavor and packed with black beans, avocado, cheese and other favorite toppings. zevzMBsmuyynNeqB2dLKkq--zSD3mp0w-H7CgxZk

Shrimp Taco Salad with Homemade Pico de Gallo   I think the fresh salsa would really make this salad .  It also includes recipes for three different types of dressings:  buttermilk ranch, avocado salsa verde and honey sriracha lime

Shrimp & Avocado Taco Salad  This recipe begins by describing the chef’s experience at a resort with other food bloggers.  They made these tacos in their villa's kitchen with shrimp, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, black beans, tortilla chips, salsas, and “the most buttery-tasting California avocados I have ever had in my life, then each went to town concocting our own custom taco salad. The experience reminded me that dinner doesn’t have to be complicated to be completely satisfying.”  Skip down to the bottom if you just want the recipe.  The avocados are what sold me on this recipe.

Sending you peace, healing and all good wishes. May your life be good.

Good afternoon.

It is a sunny and humid 75°F here.

Thank you for today's daily reports.

Many thanks to Vanessa @JazzyV for our wedding anniversary greetings.

Pauline was 19 and I was 24.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning.  Thanks for the Report.

Another cool morning here.  Weather seems to be a bit of a roller coaster lately, too hot a few days ago and too cool this morning.  Bertie likes going for a walk when it's cool, but the sun comes up later so the walk is a little later than he'd prefer.
An interesting collection of days.  Everyone should be an angel occasionally.   I haven't had any interaction with the tooth fairy in years.  Happy Hoodie Hoo Day to those in the Southern Hemisphere.

Interesting quote.

The meal sounds good, if I leave out the cilantro.  Hope the drink and wine are tasty too.

I've never been to today's port.

Prayers for everyone.  Cheers for all the celebrations.

Have a great day.

Good morning friends and Happy wedding anniversary to Graham @grapau27 and Pauline!!  I hope you have many more to come.

We are on US time now and due to arrive in Bar Harbor by 9 am. DH and I will be going to breakfast before long but I have time to post that our port of Halibut Point, Alaska is brand new!  We have no links to refer back to and I have not been there so no photos from me. Hopefully we will see some later. I will be back to post something later when we get back to our room. This typing on my phone is for the birds!  😂

Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! Another lovely start to the day. Yesterday was our third day without a drop of rain. 🤔 Very unusual for Summer here.

Vanessa, thank you for keeping our lists. Gym, Bindi walks, chores and my final prep of my AmVets donation. Ooh and since no rain is expected today - I should get some pool time in today, too!

Wine & Soul - Pintas Character Red 2019

This red blend from Portugal sounds lovely, and I would love a taste. And what a blend - more than 30 different grapes! Available from a decent number of distributors with prices starting at $37.90.

Winemaker Notes

Very impressive on the nose, with sleek pure notes of plum, blackberry, and black cherry with subtle spicy notes. Very fine texture and concentration with refined tannins, beautiful long finish.

WW93 Wilfred Wong of Wine.com
The 2019 Wine & Soul Pintas Character Red Wine impresses with power and style. This wine excels with aromas and flavors of black fruit, earth, and dust. Pair its elegant richness with a slice of rare prime rib.
RP92 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2019 Pintas Character is a field blend (over 30 grapes, but the majority are Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Nacional) from old vines aged for 18 months in 90% used French oak. As always, the Pintas Character is not quite as powerful or as concentrated as its big brother, Pintas, but this easygoing red has more going on than seems apparent on first pour. Coming back to this after half an hour helped a lot. At that point, it showed off its structure. It features ripe tannins but a firm finish. Then, the fruit also evolved, becoming very expressive. Both approachable and serious, this year's version of Character should age pretty well. It is drinking decently now, but it can still improve over the next few years. It does need to demonstrate it can do that, but it's so appealing today that it's worth leaning up for the moment.
JS92 James Suckling

This has aromas of blackberries, cracked pepper, tobacco and blackcurrant leaves. Chewy and dark-fruited with a full body and firm tannins. Inky quality. Better after 2024.

WE90 Wine Enthusiast

Acting as a second wine for the producer’s Pintas, this bottling has a softer aspect at this young stage. It is juicy, with ripe blackberry fruits and good acidity that cuts through the tannins. Drink

Good morning everyone.   I hope to be an angel today remaining here on Earth.  Hoodie Hoo what is that? I hope my days for the tooth fairy are over.   Both the shrimp taco salads today look tasty.  I look forward to photos of Halibut Point.   CS Lewis quote is perfect for today's rainy day.  We are heading in to town today.

Thanks for the care list @jazz @JazzyV.  Prayers for everyone going through the wildfire devastation and chaos.  Prayers for those needing them and the people of Ukraine.

It was a sad day for all of us on the lake as our elder statesman who sold his property in 2021 passed away.  Our friend Frank was 98 years old.   He was due to have a heart valve replacement tomorrow at the VA but COVID had other plans.  He and his wife caught COVID on a road trip to South Dakota when they both caught it.  They were vaccine refusers but I doubt a vaccine would have saved him at his age. He lived a good, long life and active until a week before his passing.

Have a nice Tuesday.  Nancy

Thanks for the Fleet Update and General info from all the contributors.

Port of the Day, Halibut Point, Alaska. We have been there twice for the halibut.

National Tooth Fairy Day. Ok, I know there is a redneck joke there but I won’t go there.

Good morning from a dark and very warm central Texas. It is 81F and feels like 84F with 62% humidity and a dew point pf 67F.  Our high this afternoon will be 103F to 105F.  I'm heading out to mow and trim the yard as soon as it's light enough.  I've put it off too long already, and I hope to be back inside before it gets too hot.

I try to be angel, but sometimes the imp in me comes out.  It has been quite awhile since the tooth fairy visited our house.  I looked up Hoodie Hoo Day, but did not learn much.  In the northern hemisphere it is celebrated on February 23 each year.  I hope all the Dailyites in the southern hemisphere enjoy Hoodie Hoo day.

The C.S. Lewis quote is interesting, and as a book lover, I can agree.

We'll pass on the meal and the drink.  The wine sounds nice, but getting a little pricey for me.

We have been to Halibut Cove, and anyone who has been to Baranof Island and Sitka have been close.  It is north of Sitka on the way to the cruise terminal.  I'll post the links I found for Sitka, and my pictures of the area around Halibut Cove from our 2010 wildlife tour in Sitka.

Another interesting day in history.  The Geneva Convention is important in how POWs are supposed to be treated.  Unfortunately, not all countries signed the Geneva Convention in it's many iterations.

@ottahand7  Our condolences to you and Frank's family on his passing.

We've been to Sitka and Baranof Island many times, but since the port of the day is Halibut Cove, I stick to my pictures from our wildlife tour in 2010.  I know we've gone through Halibut Cove on the shuttle bus from the cruise terminal, but I don't have any pictures taken on land.

First some pictures of the island in the area of Halibut Cove.  Mount Edgecombe across from Halibut Cove.
