Last time we sailed on a Celebrity ship was  March 2023 on Soltice  doing a B2B for 14 days . We really like the cruise line; but .we are no longer able to travel to  Florida to board a Celebrity ship

Several ports in California are legislating against cruise visits.

Most of last years Eclipse sailings out of CA were selling at $400 base fare for 7 days.

Most other departure ports can command significantly higher fares.

I’m sure these were some of the factors Celebrity considered.

Lack of demand.  Several of the places in Mexico are Level 4 on the State Department list.  The Celebrity cruises they do have are very inexpensive.  Not a money maker so they don't sail there...

But not L.A./San Pedro/Long Beach or San Deigo

We when on 1 of the Solstice Mexican Riveria sailing.

Very inexpensive and the ship was nowhere near full.

Not a money maker or they would have continued with them.

OK.  I love to cruise the US West Coast, but cruise to where?

Mexico, always love a port where the local police carry machine guns and the US travel warning means I have no insurance coverage

California, San Diego great as a port.  Catalina Island is OK.  SFO great.  But Monterrey and Santa Barbara are shut.  Whales require slow cruising speeds so the 14 day RT to Alaska doesn't work any more.

And the short 4 day cruises are not our style.

Not all Pacific Coastal cruises go only to Mexico. We were on the 8 Night Pacific Coastal Eclipse Cruise in 8 October 2023 and only Mexico port was Ensenada. We enjoyed that port.

California cruises are mostly for FUN ships and Booze cruisers who don't care if it goes to Mexico as long as they can Party.

You are wrong on your assumption concerning West Coast cruises! We've done a lot of Celebrity, RC and Holland cruises out of San Diego and San Pedro (7 plus nights) that go south into Mexico and never have been booze cruises.

We were happy to sail Solstice last year when she could not sail the Australia season so she came up to LA, waiting to go up to Alaska for the summer - not terribly exciting ports but a great way to spend two weeks in January.  This year we did Navigator of the Seas - not a favorite but we took her as an inexpensive winter get away and enjoyed ourselves.

I wish they would do a LA- Cabo - Hawaii - I would do B2B2B2B. We love the longer cruises!

They would need to make that a round trip because a one-way would not be allowed since Cabo is not a Distant Foreign Port as required by US law

Round trip would be fine! Leave Cabo out!

They have to go to Cabo, or some other non-US port. Otherwise it's a domestic cruise. Separate issue from the PVSA but they tend to get lumped together.

They need one foreign port to make it legal.

Or they need a US flagged ship and comply with US labor and tax laws...

Oops! Forgot immigration and customs!

Why don’t they sail out of Houston, NOLA, and etc?

Happy  cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

Because they can make more money sailing from Florida? Just like California? 😃
