I wanted to let you all know about my recent experience with Stock Perks. I downloaded the app back in January to apply for OBC for our Hawaii cruise, long story but I had already faxed in the information months prior with no response. Anyway using the app was easy and the OBC was applied quickly.

Fast forward to this past Saturday— I applied for OBC for my cruise next month using my two booking numbers. It was even easier this time because all the information was stored, but I’m sure it has to be updated every year. The app said it would take 5 days to hear back. That evening I received an email confirmation that the credits had been applied. Talk about fast!  I was impressed. So I wanted to share how simple it is and not believe everything you read elsewhere. 😉

Happy Canada day to our friends in the north. I am looking forward to visiting the beautiful Canadian ports on this cruise.

@StLouisCruisers sorry to hear your husband has a cold.  We hear lots of sneezing and coughing.  I put on my mask at any crowded events.

I like all of the Mark Twain quotes.
I doubt I will ever get to Japan so thank you for the pictures.

Today we did a wonderful private excursion.  Luckily it was just cloudy and very windy.  Here is a picture of the lighthouse on one on the islands we visited near Alesund. You take a number of tunnels to get there and according to our guide when first built it was the longest undersea tunnel in the world.

Good morning and thanks for all the Canada Day wishes.   We first celebrated dominion day. Then Canada Day. Not Independence Day. As we kept our ties with the monarchy.  The Queen is on our money as will soon be the king.

Also my dear mom’s birthday 🎂

@ottahand7, Nancy, I was hesitant to say anything before but now agree that your brother needs a very squeaky wheel. And an infectious disease specialist to consult with.

I unfortunately had many patients with infections of their joint replacements and it was never easy or simple. Sometimes  it was related to a host of other medical issues and so much harder to treat.
I can’t imagine the pain he must be in and send prayers to all involved.

Sorry if I overstepped.

That looks pretty decadent.  I truly enjoy fruit desserts.  I don't know if this is really true or just another one of those beliefs that people have heard over and over and just accept as the truth, but I have heard that women prefer cake desserts and men prefer pies.  I am OK with cake, but I really love pies, cobblers, fruit tarts, fruit sundaes, and, heck, just pieces of fruit for dessert.

Some levity that I have encountered the last few days.

I know there are a lot of cat people here.

Mrs. XBGuy sent this one to me.  She knows that I really enjoy puns.  Normally, they cause her eyes to roll, but she enjoyed this one.

Thanks for the daily and fleet report.  As I was waiting to see the surgeon for my wound check, I was reading about the history of Canada Day.  Very interesting and I guess I didn't know it was not like our Independence Day but more of a legislative "day".  But Happy Canada Day anyways!!  Three other good days to celebrate and oh, how true Twain's quote is!  I like the meal but I do my slaw without radishes or other things and it has a creamy celery seed dressing.  May have to make it today (which means going to the store).  The drink looks yummy, no to the wine, and I have never been to Aburatsu.

My checkup with the surgeon was good.  He just cleaned the wound, put Dermabond and steri-strips over the stitches and covered it with an opsite.  I have to leave it covered until I see him again in 2 weeks.  It does feel better and the cleaning did not hurt like the last time.  I had him take a pic for me and I think it looks tons better.  But of course, no ocean or pool and I have to try and keep it relatively dry.  I did ask him today if my shower routine could have caused it and he said no.  Oh, well, it is all water under the bridge and I have to just go from here but I am missing my usual summer trip to the ocean - not that I had it planned but........

It is 1040 right now and the weather is beautiful (93F) so I have the door opened and I am enjoying the sights and sounds coming from outside.  I have a fountain on my patio and I can hear it; it is so soothing.  As Sharon stated, we won't get to 100F today and the possibility of a thunderstorm is still in the forecast.  I heard thunder yesterday but no rain for me. I think I might just do some cooking today.

Thoughts for those who need an extra boost and cheers to those celebrating.  Have a great day everyone!

All I can pretty much say about the appointment is arghh!  About behavior and attitude, arghh.

Will it be a long day, with much to ignore, yes.  I start work in 20 minutes, and he wants to get the washing machine moved, and the old hose attached, if it's the right size, thi from someone who said he didnt feel well after his appointment, so we got lunch and rushed home.  ARghh.

Good afternoon.

I did a quick trip to the gym this morning and then met DS Mary Jo and DBIL Mitch at the Doggy Park.  We are taking their puppy, Rita, for them while they are in California.  The puppy is 2 years old now and seems to be past the chew up shoes phase, but I think we'll be puppy proofing the house, just the same.

I have had the LaCrema Chardonnay and it is one of our favorites.  Every once in a while you can find it at Costco for $14.

@Nickelpenny I am glad that the surgical wound appears to be doing better this round.  Sorry about no ocean water for the time being.

@ottahand7  I agree with the others that your DB does need a squeaky wheel.  I'd rather be seen as a complainer than have him end up losing his leg.

Hugs.  Sometimes all you can do is go with the flow.  When we were teaching middle school our team had a saying:  If you can't fight and can't flee, flow.

Good morning,

Rabbit, Rabbit, White Rabbit! Happy Canada Day! I'm a Canadian citizen, permanent US resident so will wear my Canada shirt and maple leaf earrings today.

Yesterday afternoon was quite nice as I went to a "send-off" for a friend's DS who is moving to Minnesota. This is the friend who is sailing with me on Sunday (her first ever cruise and first time to Alaska). To say she is excited is an understatement! Her son will pick her up at the Seattle port on the 14th (she'll walk off and I'll wait until later) and they will head out for his new home as they are hoping to make it to Billings that day. Anyway, we were in her mother-in-law's back yard on a very balmy afternoon with good company, good food, we played a couple of games and enjoyed visiting.

This week is somewhat busy and starts off with highs in the low 70's but at least 10-15 degrees higher by the 4th. Today is water aerobics (2 classes), an errand and then home. DS should be by to work on baseboards. Life is good.

Karen

Karen, I hope all goes well for your DM tomorrow.  The party sounds like it was a nice send off your friend's DS.

Annie, I couldn't like your post, but thanks for letting us know.

Pennie, I'm glad the surgeon was pleased with how your incision is doing.

Oh, Joy, that's not the news anyone wanted to hear.  I hope your DS's cancer was caught early, and can be taken care of easily.  Sending positive thoughts to both of you.

Good morning to all, and Happy Canada Day to all our friends up north.  Roy, I have to ask why did you get thrown off the ship in Freemantle?  Prayers to all our friends in need.

It was 2020.  The cruise was terminated due to Covid.

Sorry to hear this.  Hope it has been caught early.  They do wonderful things these days.  I am feeling so well after my lumpectomy, I'm glad that is what I opted fort,  although I'm not really looking forward to radiation.  Fortunately, the surgeon didn't have to take any lymph nodes, and now, four days later, I was out gardening this morning.  Gotta keep up with those weeds!

Happy Canada Day!

Ann, thanks for sharing the good news.  It's always good when they do not have to remove any lymph nodes.  I'm glad you are feeling like working in the garden.  Good luck with the radiation, and I hope it's not too difficult..

My sister's cancer is complicated due to her scleroderma, but she says she has an excellent medical team in San Diego and will spend all day on July 11th with doctor, MRI, and surgeon. Thank you for prayers. My sister's name is Bonnie.

Joy, I hope Bonnie's scleroderma does not cause too many problems for the surgeon.  It's good she is able to spend so much time with the doctor, getting an MRI and the surgeon so quickly.
