thanks for the update on that.  Hope you have loved the cruise!

The drive today from Naples to Miami was taking 7 hours as people leave our coast.  I'm hunkered down.

Video of the medivac by helicopter is al over social media.

They had to hoist the person, in the gurney/bed thing, up in the air and pull them into the helicopter.  😮

Does this ship not have anything that is used as a HELIPAD?

No Princess ship has a helipad & instead the USCG will hoist a patient as shown in the video. Once saw a USAF helicopter provide a medevac.

All the medivacs that I've seen have been done with the helicopter hovering and hoisting the patient up. I haven't ever seen a helipad on Princess.

None of the Princess ships do.

Do other brand cruise ships have helipads? I've never seen any.

Some of the older RCCL ships have them at the bow of the ship.  Many times the area is open to passengers on scenic cruising days.  On Princess this area is the crew pool.

All Celebrity Solstice and Edge class ships have a pad on the bow but it’s for winch only.

They can land a helicopter on M and S class ships.

One evac to Broward Health Medical Center (we tracked the Helicopter via ASDB data). From about 20 miles out.

Two evac via boat (we closed further to the coast for this).

We're now cruising slowly along the Cuban Coast in International waters.

After they called off flying stations,  the Captain said one of the nurses was also lifted off the deck to see to the patient during the flight.

During the evac, passengers were not allowed on the open decks or balconies. Port side zone 2 and 3 passengers were not allowed to stay in their rooms on most of the decks.

Viewing the Weather Channel coverage Milton’s worst effects are forecasted to stay north of you. Although storm surge appears to be a bigger factor in Naples.

Hopefully you still have power to be comfortable while hunkering down at home. 🙏

A few do...seems like Celebrity Solstice does...and I *think* I've been on an NCL ship that did; don't recall which one.
