I don't flaunt my C&A Status

Recommended Posts

We enjoy our cruises and we don't bother with status etc. Just being able to afford a cruise every 2 years or so is enough of an achievement/reward for us without the bells and whistles.

We also enjoy all of our cruises and the perks associated with whatever tier level we have achieved.

My worst experience with a Diamond+ was an unpleasant middle-aged man who came to trivia each day. He arrived late one day and the host, who had already turned away two late arrivals by saying you 'had to be there from the start', allowed him in and repeated the questions for him. I had been paired with him the day before so I knew his status ( he told me several times), and his personality, so I sympathized with the position of the host when she tried to placate him, but other passengers openly complained and the poor woman was stuck either way. She was really scared that he would go to management and make her life miserable. But, as has been pointed out, he appeared to be pretty rude in real life so this was just a continuation of that.

This thread is very interesting.... when I’m on a cruise I never even give a moments attention to what my status is - I’m just on the cruise to well' date=' cruise - and have a great time, LOL!

There are rotten bad apples in every walk of life. C&A level has nothing to do with it. If he is rotten as a D+...I guarantee you he was rotten as a first time cruiser also. :o

Status is a perception that changes according to the individual having it. However, the perks are an indisputable enhancement to the cruise experience. Anyone who does not appreciate free wine, beer, mixed drinks, specialty dinners and lunches certainly sees things from a different perspective than mine.

Totally agree with that one!

And if someone has a problem with those generous perks we adore...then

they can always refuse to use them.;) I sure appreciate them.

I love the perks we receive but I’m always uncomfortable when people refer to the levels as “status” since, IMO, it insinuates a higher level of importance. We’ve spent a lot of money to receive D+ perks so basically we’ve bought these perks😀, not earned or achieved them. And there is certainly not anything “special” about us, I don’t consider my “status” to be any higher than the first time cruiser.

I just get to drink for free!😂😂

I agree and people who don't agree are lying to themselves.

You overlooked one more perk MONEY. Some of us dont drink and would prefer points to our NEXT cruise. Then again the cruiselines to treat solo Diamond different the couples. When the entice with drinks they are then hoping ya'all will keep on drinking and spend spend

more. It is like dangling candy to a kid.

There is a line from a movie and it goes Show ME the Money. That is my point

So, based on your post, wouldn’t it be better to add perks and status based on $ spent with Royal in all areas (cabin, dining, Casino, shore excursions, and so on )??

I have not been following this thread but 21 pages on flaunting C&A status? Geez.

I hear ya. My point is the perks can lead to a variety of attitudes and actions

For me the cruiselines has created this and now see the comments.

Those who do not drink would prefer just a good price on next cruise and skip the so called perks that really in the end benefits the cruise line not the traveller.

But you are welcome to enjoy the conversatons in the DL along with the apps and a coke or water. Not everyone drinks.

Yup, agree totally. I just look at it as a loyalty perk level. :)

It's pretty simple. If you don't like the way the perks are handled at various levels achieved...don't use them. ;) Me, I appreciate and use them to save a lot of money...yes...I said money! Less out of my pocket for the things I enjoy.

And if the whole set up is something you don't like...you don't have to cruise.

There are other vacation venues. ;)

Boarded Oasis yesterday. The lines to get through security stretched forever except for the Suite / Pinnacle line. I think I have a new favorite perk.

That's the feature I like best about Terminal 1. I cannot recall another terminal with a separate security line for suites.

There was one in Tampa the last time I was there. We were at the alternate terminal on the south end with Rhapsody, since Brilliance was at the other one.
