Not a fan on that balcony at all. It may be big but that is one damn ugly tunnel vision balcony.

Perfect for a beer pong, er, pool table.....or maybe a personal table tennis.

Itineraries change. In the mean time...a 4 day cruise with 2 beachy stops is actually welcome by plenty of folks.  We're booked pretty far ahead...and the cabins are filling up fast...so apparently there's a "market" for those cruises on nice ships.

Of course. I didn't mean anything derogatory about short cruises. It's just with so many new things on the ship, you (me) need more than 4 days to really enjoy it.   Hopefully they'll add a few longer itineraries in the near future.

Since I need to fly to Florida, I won't take anything shorter than a 7 day cruise from there.

Watching the videos gives a new appreciation as to how much work goes into revitalizing a ship. Amazing they can get it done in the allotted time.

Looks impressive. Too bad it's only doing short sailings.

I’m happy I managed to book onto one of the 7 night ones. Roatan, Costa Maya, Cozumel and Gran Cayman at the end of April. As I’m coming from the UK anything other than a week is not worth the 10 hours flight!

Generally we’re the same...7 day + cruises...

But doing a 4 day one in a Navigator Junior Suite gets us some fun & double points at an extremely low price later this year.

So based on the longer press video around 3:21, they show What should be new deck stateroom 1102 or 1104 based on the mast location. View out the door of the room. Can’t wait to see the size of my 1108 balcony!

Oh boy. There is no way I would sail in a cabin like this. I hope those who have it, enjoy it.

wish they had decided to sail a shorter sailing instead of cancelling the 24th.  Leave on the 26th, go down to Labadee, and come back on the 1st as scheduled.  Adjusted our payments accordingly.  A short cruise would have been better than no cruise at all.

Me too!! I would have been perfectly happy with that. However they need a day at sea on both ends if going to Labadee, so that would not have worked. I would have been happy with a three day cruise to nowhere, or just the stop in Nassau.. where I would have stayed on the ship anyway.

I've looked at the app just about every day since someone posted it being available and have yet to see it available - maybe some who added it might still have access.

Same here. At first I thought it was an IOS v Android thing, but it seems not from other reports. Maybe it's only active for the March sailings at this point?

The new app supports Navigator now.

As far as the "new Voom wi-fi" - I asked the Voom "specialist" on board in December if Navigator will get O3b.  He didn't really answer the question like he didn't know, or didn't know what I was referring to.  Adventure and Mariner still have geosynchronous Voom so I have no expectations with respect to a Voom upgrade on Navigator but it will be one of the first things I check out on 3/1.

I'm really hoping your going to change your mind about Periscoping and/or posting some live photos. Mostly because I want to see the ship, but also to test out that Voom 😉

Years ago...Royal said they would be upgrading all their ships to the fast Voom internet platform.

It would seem logical to have it done now in drydock...since its unlikely it would be done before the next drydock in 4 years from now. We should hear from folks soon on the status onboard.

They are selling Voom Surf and Stream on cruise planner for my March sailing.

I have had the app for awhile but it didn't show the navigator.  Then I think last week it showed up saying it was available on the navigator but I still had to wait for functionality (just saw my reservation but couldn't go further). I told my sister about it being available, sent her screen shots of the navigator listed because I was so excited.  She went and downloaded the app. She could and I think still can see the pic of the ship, the different menu's, and could navigate through it but most pages forward said they were working on it and to come back later.  Right after I told her about the app on my end it reversed (which is what I posted earlier). But she still had her limited access. She doesn't have the listing of activities like one person posted a screenshot earlier. So I have come to the conclusion that there is no rhyme or reason to who has access and what kind of access they have. Totally random and changes from one moment to the next. Hopefully it will all sort after she's back in service 🤞🤞🤞

Happy dreaming and planning everyone! I'm still super excited and can't wait to get on this beauty!

Royal has stopped ugrading the older ships to the faster O3b service.  I believe they did increase the bandwidth on the old geosync service, but it still is much less capable than the O3b service.

Well that would be disappointing...as promoting "Voom Surf & Stream" as the service on different ships with different bandwidth is somewhat deceptive.  They should call it "Voom Lite" or something like that to differentiate the two services.

I understood when Adventure wasn’t converted to O3b because that refreshment started years earlier.

When Mariner wasn’t converted that was very telling especially for the target role in the short cruise market where O3b Voom would be beneficial to that target market.

Consequently I have no hope that Navigator will be converted to O3b.   If it is it will be a very pleasant surprise.  When it’s not my only disappointment will be in Royal’s ongoing misleading marketing and practice of selling all Voom as equal when it isn’t.

They have long sold Surf and Stream on Navigator.  Much like they do on Vision, Radiance and other Voyager class ships.  They even charge the same as Freedom, Oasis and Quantum class ships for Surf and Stream.  What you get on Voyager class and most older ships isn’t the same.

Two possibilities.  Voom prices on older ships offset Voom prices on newer ships or Royal is misleading and screwing people on older ships intentionally as a money grab.

I agree about being somewhat deceptive, and that is not surprising.

The only issue, however, is that these ships and their itineraries get switched around from year to year...so Navigator could be on a totally different route and duration in the future. Not having the latest onboard fast Internet, especially when they can upgrade during drydock...seems a penny wise but pound foolish decision if that indeed happens.

We have no idea what RCI pays for the old high orbit service vs. O3B, but they are spending whatever money it takes on newer ships (assuming here that Spectrum will come out with O3B). The main issue between the two service types is mostly the latency (which greatly affects general usage performance), not so much the BW as we have had reports of similar download speeds between the two, especially at the Surf tier.

Yeah...figured the latency was the main variance. Still think using the exact same name for what is essentially a different platform (especially with a different user experience) is sadly a consumer deception issue.

I'll look to hear reports of onboard users after the refurbish before ordering Voom for multiple users later this year on Navigator.

To be fair, RCI doesn't provide any metrics during their advertisement so nothing really to hold them against. A lot of hotels advertise "free internet" but some of them are almost as bad as on the ship.

VOOM = internet in general, not "good" internet.
