I can see the value in lanyards on clothing optional cruises. :classic_blush:

This was the best response on the entire thread!  I laughed so hard!   I'm recovering from knee replacement surgery and have nothing else to do but spend time here.

When I first saw the post I honest thought this was joke. Obviously not.  I have never used  lanyard and although I've thought I'd misplaced my sea-pass in my bag plenty of times, I've never lost it.  I have seen plenty of folks using them and never think one thing or another about it.

This year, I have a lanyard from my High School reunion, that is newly prized possession, so I figured I'd give wearing it with my sea-pass a whirl.

We'll see how long that lasts.

There's an idea here! Companies could produce advertising lanyards and pay people to wear them. Free enterprise at its best. This might shift focus from "status" to the need for money.

Ouch, my first and last business idea.

"Lanyards are for winners"

As long as I wear swimsuits and pants with no pockets, and have the keeping up with my stuff skills of a 7 year old boy, I will use a lanyard!

You should be careful of posts that are knee-slappers, then!

No need to do that.  Celebrity get people to buy them at a hefty premium!

One could avoid paying Celebrity an outrageous price for the lanyards and instead look for companies that would pay THEM for advertising the company on the lanyard.  There's an Infiniti dealer in  South Florida who pays a monthly fee to drivers who place their decal in the rear window of the car.

You can by them really cheap on line or at BB &B.  Not status-practical for some.  And it isn't such a bad idea for a physician to carry his/her ER bag!  My family does.  Unfortunately have used it previously on cruises.

Wow - I didn't even know this was a thing. Apologies if I offend anyone by wearing a lanyard. I'd invite you to take the matter up with me directly, in person, and we can 'exchange views.' 😄

Seriously though - I like the easy access of a cruise card on a lanyard - instead of fumbling about with a wallet. Wouldn't carry it loose in my pocket for fear of it falling out when seated etc.

Sorry, my attempt at humor missed the mark.

For our Reflection cruise last month, I got motivated and made name tags for everyone to wear at the Cruise Critic gathering to make it easier to identify and recognize each other.  I initially was going to print out the names on adhesive labels but those things don't last very long and there were other roll call activities planned later in the cruise (e.g. slot pull, pub crawl) that re-usable name tags would come in  handy.

So I decided to bite the bullet and make name tags with lanyards.  There were 213 people that registered for the CC Party and so I had the printed name tags in one big box to distribute to everyone and I had a large box of cheap lanyards to give to out as well.

What was very interesting was that some of the ship's crew/officers that attended the CC Party had their eyes on the extra lanyards and asked if they could have a few of them.  Of course, I gladly gave obliged and gave them some lanyards.  But it made me laugh a bit to think that this was something that they wanted.....

DH  and I wear a laynatd while on the ship.  And, yes, I do manage to still loose my card. We do not wear them while off the ship in port.  I do not wear mine in the evening for dinner.

While at the pool, I put my card on a bracelet.  Wirks well for me.

Regarding the use of Lanyards I have a question.  On the Edge in the casino you "tap" your card instead of inserting it in a slot machine.  Would the machine still be able to read the card if its in a Lanyard?

I have see most of them with a hole punched so they are just clipped on without a pouch

Wow, five pages on lanyards! Who’da thunk it? We have officially hit bottom.

No, we haven't.  We're making people laugh!

watchdiva, when you're wearing your Coach lanyard, do people stand aside to let you go to the front of the line?

Absolutely! Please provide a link so I can get one before our August sojourn! I know my bride would like one in blaring pink, as well.

Sorry :( …  there is no link for the Castaway Club lanyards as … "Guests who have sailed with Disney before will receive a complimentary Castaway Club lanyard upon checking in at the port. The lanyards are based on club level, so you'll see many guests walking around the ship wearing Silver, Gold, or Platinum Castaway Club lanyards. However, if this is your very first Disney cruise, you will not receive a lanyard, but may want to purchase one ('a' lanyard) before you sail." … but they are available for sale on the auction websites … or if you know people who have cruised DCL before ...

Am so used to wearing lanyards from our cruises aboard Disney, from attending numerous Comic Con conventions throughout Canada and the US, from VIP experiences and events etc, that never gave it a second thought … sooo looking forward though to getting my lanyard and badge from this years SDCC - woohoo!!  lol
