We were on the Anthem in March and while getting our free drinks in the casino (we are prime) the drinks were terrible watered down and mostly not worth drinking it seemed like the bar tenders treated the free prime members differently.

what is a prime member?

You can watch them make your drink. How can they be watered down?

I thought there was a difference in the amount of alcohol in the drinks in the casino on Harmony and Allure.  I had the alcohol package and tipped every drink.  I handed the tip with my card, so the bartender knew he was getting a tip.

On Harmony, the bartenders measured exactly and when I asked for a Double Johnny Black, the bartender told me he could only give one shot at a time.  That was my mistake as I wanted a Johnny Double Black, not a double shot.  I did the same thing on Allure and got a double shot.  I was very careful to order correctly after that, lol.

I also noticed on Harmony that a Mudslide had very little liquor in it as opposed to Allure.

UGH, you ordered a mudslide on a Royal cruise? Mayby better now, but the one I got a few yrs ago had only crushed ice and no ice cream. Really bad

No ice cream, a tiny splash of Kahlua and chocolate poured on the inside of the glass.  It was so bad that one sip was all I had of it.

Just came back from a very nice cruise on Royal Carribean to Cuba. But some of us were wondering if the bottles of alcohol are watered down? I got a tequila and soda and even asked for an extra shot to add to it and it tasted like soda? Anyone else?

If ever in that situation again, take a sip of the shot and see if that tastes watered down.

Like everything else, different bartenders make drinks differently.  On our recent Liberty cruise, saw several bartenders pull the metal tab off the cap of a bottle of Grey Goose, so not a pre-opened bottle.

You shouldn't need to tip to get a drink that you're paying for & already includes a tip!

If you look at her quote, I think she is referring to the casino players who are getting their drinks free.

And to the OP...I drink Dirty Gin martini’s, so never tasted watered down on those. LOL

Well that's the way it works. Take care of them, they'll take care of you.

Just so.  Prime members get FREE drinks in the casino.  Anything that they stock is yours for the asking.  Since those drinks are free, there is no way for the bartenders to get a tip except directly from the passenger.

ALWAYS tip.  It's the right thing to do.  🙂

High level in the Casino players group.

Not so high.

There are four levels - choice is the lowest, and it just means that at some point in your cruising life, you walked into the casino and played, using your SeaPass card.

Prime is just the next rung on the ladder.  There are two levels above that.

So know the bottle is opened for the next round. Just saying. :classic_rolleyes:

Well I'm glad for everyone's input...yes it was at RC Bar on ship, yes I do tip....but I did realize they were already getting a $1.60 on each drink.....whoever said I should have tasted the shot was a good idea. I should have stuck to wine! 🍹...next time I'll test it better!

I'm sorry but what is a "Prime" member?  Thanks

Prime is one of the levels in the Royal's casino players program.  Another level is Choice.

The key is to find the bartender that makes a good drink on the first day and tip them with cash. The tip you leave on the slip all of the bartenders have to share. If you tip them cash they get to keep it. Also they move around the ship sometimes so ask what bar they will be at and you will have a good drink every time!
