If the steward is named Stewart, he was destined to have the job.

If the concierge is named Connie, she was destined to have the job.

If the butler is named Jeeves, Alfred, or Butler, he was destined to have the job.

Therefore, I have higher expectations which makes a tip more difficult to earn.

I always pre-pay gratuities. I voted $20 above. I find my steward on the final morning and thank them while handing them the extra cash. That's based on my last two cruises which were 4 nights each. On each of these two cruises I did not ask for anything "extra". I do ask for/expect twice a day service. I like a steward that I don't see often, is polite when I do see them, and keeps the cabin tidy and stocked.

I voted $20, but usually tip that at the beginning, then another $20 or so at the end. We only stay in an Inside, but I like my towel animals. I haven't cruised since these weren't guaranteed, so I'll continue my usual tipping in hopes that I continue receiving my friends each night. I also keep the service charge in tact. I know others adjust that, but we do not touch it. I do believe that some of that goes to our steward. I did ask once and was told that some of it does.

Compared to what you tipped before the auto gratuity per day, do you tip differently now?

i am finding we do the same now as we did before the auto gratuity?  I always wonder if the auto is truly going to the employees or another revenue stream for NCL that is put in the big income pot that pays the employees, among other expenses?
