Does anyone else feel that they were robbed by NCL

I spent an extreme amount of money to give my family the vacation of a lifetime. We had the Owner's Suite on the Joy in May   I saved for over a year and a half to get this cruise and was completely disappointed.  NCL could care less about my horrible experience.  Everything from horrible food to overcrowded and even the a/c which has to be constantly turned back own ( because it automatically shuts its self off after being on for an hour).  All I can say is stay away from this cruise line.  I have had much better experiences on Carnival and Royal Caribbean.    Cruise at your own risk.  You have been warned

sounds like you are pissed and for no good reason. You mention food; well to you it was awful but to most this is not the case. There is no way a food can be awful consistently. A new ship to the fleet is going to have some ironing out to do. I have sailed on all  mass marketed lines and feel the food is similar on all of them. Overcrowded? that is what happens when you cruise in the late spring to about mid Aug. So,for the most part I think it is safe to say, your experience is exactly that but for others we keep coming back...Oh, let me add, welcome to CC. You seem to have taken the cruise critic technically and decided to criticize. I am sure RCI and Carnival will be glad to have  you back.

Sorry that you had a bad time. Sometimes expectations do not match the reality. Have you cruised before?

The only time I felt robbed was an $800 excursion to Atlantis in the Bahamas which turned out to

be one of the worst days of my life and not even exaggerating.

Sounds like you had the little snowflake thingie turned on for the air conditioning. That will shut it off after an hour. It's for like a cool blast. If you don't push the button to turn that on, it will simply run.

Do tell......

It was a blistering hot day (not Atlantis's fault) and the complex is massive. They opened the box office

20 min late(their fault ). We stood in line for 45 min. so thank goodness I had water with us.

The complex is massive with poor signage. Little things like

"the lazy river has multiple access points so pay attention to where you got on so you can reunite

with family" was not told to us so we ended up wasting almost an hour trying to find each other.

Texting didn't work even though we had signed up for a plan. Lunch was overpriced. A wrap and

bottle of water was $20 each. But for me the worst was the employees either because they were

new or in a bad mood consistently pointed in the opposite direction of where we asked to go. Which

way is the children's play area? They pointed in the exact opposite way. So when family tried to find

us they were directed to a sand dune. Now writing this I see it was  a bit of an exaggeration but if you have

ever been hot to the point of fainting and alarmed because you couldn't find your family in a big

park and pay $800 for the priviledge you can see why I was upset. PS I had tried to download

a map before we left home and it was not detailed at all and sure enough it was the same useless

map handed out.

I am sad that you did not enjoy your cruise. I have taken six cruises with NCL so far and have two more booked currently. I have never had anything other than a completely fantastic time. While not every single meal has been memorable, I have had some really excellent food on board Norwegian ships and not just in the specialty restaurants. My only complaints about food ever has been crowding of the buffet in the Gem in cold weather when outdoor seating was unusable and the poor flow of the buffet on the Bliss (and I suppose the sparse selection for late night snack on the Bliss). But since those complaints are buffet-related, I don't really hold them against NCL. I don't expect the buffet on any cruise to be an amazing experience. That's what the MDRs and specialty restaurants are for.

Mechanical issues with your A/C should have been reported and fixed quickly. If they were not, you have every right to be upset about that.

Its tough to imagine a bad cruise in an owners suite.  If the ship is over crowded, you can escape to a huge cabin and get VIP service and delivery.

Clearly the OP's expectations were not met.  I sense buyer's remorse and finding out all those big bucks for Haven suites are not worth it.

Once I felt robbed when our cruise was diverted from Bermuda to Florida due to a hurricane.  I understand that NCL had no control over the weather, but we paid a lot of money for a Bermuda cruise, not one to Florida.  NCL did not tell us about the diverted cruise until the muster drill and did not give an option to refund the cruise and leave the ship.  The thing that really heightened the feeling of being robbed was the RCL and Carnival announced their diverted itineraries prior to boarding and offered refunds.

NCL takes an initial hard line and only bends if enough people complain ... I have seen this recently with several of their cruises that have altered itineraries.  I wish they would focus more of customer satisfaction at the onset instead waiting to gauge the backlash before doing he right thing.

I am platinum with NCL, but I have absolutely no loyalty to the brand.

As for changing itineraries, normally it is beyond the fault of the cruise line and there is no satisfactory answer. We had it happen when on the Jewel several years ago: the port most were looking forward to got cancelled just before we were due to arrive. We were all disappointed but we understood and appreciated the decision the captain made. Did we get or expect anything in return? We get get an hour or free drinks (before the days of UBP) and we got our port charges returned. For the most part everyone took it well. We have had itinerary changes other times as well: always related to weather. No, it isn't what we hope for, but I wouldn't expect the cruise line (any line) to do anything about the changes.

I really can’t tell if you are serious.

The weekly troll, create a new account, post a few vague threads/posts bashing NCL without giving any real details...disappear in a few days never to be heard from again.

Yep and what do you bet the poor thing will not be back or if she is: she will have all kinds of stories to tell us. I am not holding my breath.

I am very serious.  I would never have booked a cruise from NYC to FL to go to port that I have been to many times already.  This was not like skipping GSC.  Imagine your vacation to Las Vegas was switched not to Reno, but to Atlantic City.

I had the exact same happen in the Gem in 2011 when we were diverted to the Bahamas due to Hurricane Katia threatening Bermuda. We enjoyed perfect weather all week, likely much better than the gale force winds buffeting Bermuda. While we were disappointed, we endeavored to have a good time and enjoyed ourselves greatly.

The threat of hurricanes will always bring the chance of a diversion. You can always choose to cruise when it's NOT hurricane season...

Please don't be condescending.  NCL's competitors ... RCI and CCL made their decisions sooner - before embarkation - and offered the option of canceling, which NCL did neither.  Instead, they announced the itinerary change at the muster drill and offered no such option.

The "tough nuts" approach to customer service is driving people away.  Look how NCL caved on the Cuba cruises.
