The state department recommends o er 60 not cruise..but but 60 is the new 40.i am at disneyland this week and i will cruise in may 2020

Well I'm over 70, so I guess that's the new 50. Once upon a time being in the "don't trust anyone over 30 generation", I would have thought  even that was old. But, now having a son over 40, I guess I no longer feel that way.

We're gonna find out fast if warm weather slows this virus, Tampa temp forecast is 84-89 by Friday!

Interesting I see no one wearing masks anywhere here in Florida, but you can't find one here, anywhere! Not even those cheap paper ones in Home Depot and Lowe's people use when painting!!!

Did the government scoop them up quietly while telling us they aren't useful?-)

Are people storing them for some future apocalypse?-)

I think I've been watching too many Steven King movies!-)

Recently got a Carnival offer that can be used 3 times for a free interior cabin all the way into next year! You just pay port fees and taxes!

Cruise business must be in trouble!

Offer available until end of April, so we won't buy til then to see if this virus outbreak turn around!

I received a cancellation email within 5 minutes of cancelling, and my credit card got credited 2 days later.  I booked a new cruise the next day, and the FCC was on my account already. (I couldn't see it but my pvp could) The other things I had pre-charged (bottomless bev., internet, water) will be credited back to my credit card in 2-3 weeks.  I had contacted my pvp this past Friday right before the "official" email started to go out about cancelling, so I might have beat the rush.  I think CCL is swamped with cancellations right now.  If you have a cruise in mind and are ready to rebook, and the patience to wait on the phone go for it!

Please excuse my confusion, but this refund vs FCC is totally confusing me.  I thought the only thing refunded was for drink packages, prepaid dining, excursions, etc.  The amount not refundable (like cruises this week) are only FCC to be applied to your "Carnival "account".  I've tried calling a few times and not getting through so just wondering if I'm missing something.  Thanks!

Any non refundable portion of your fare will be given back to you in the form of a FCC if you choose the cancel. If you’re refused boarding at the port you will be completely refunded.

I wish I could help you!  Not quite sure why $736.16 was refunded to my credit card and $831 was applied as FCC.  I do know that "everything else" was going to refunded to my credit card in a few weeks.

So I just got off the phone with a very helpful Carnival PVP and here’s how it goes:

Whatever your original non-refundable deposit was, plus whatever penalty amount you might have incurred depending on how far out you are from your cruise becomes a future cruise credit.  You can see what your penalty amount is by looking at your booking online - go to “Cruise Balance Details” then “Cancellation Information” at the bottom, and there you will see your current penalty amount.  Here’s the penalty schedule from their website:

  • From the final payment date to 56 days prior to sailing, the penalty is the standard deposit amount.
  • From 55 days prior to sailing to 30 days prior to sailing, the penalty is 50% of the total fare or the standard deposit amount, whichever is greater.
  • From 29 to15 days prior to sailing, the penalty is 75% of the total fare or the standard deposit amount, whichever is greater.
  • From 14 days prior to sailing to the day of your cruise, the penalty is 100%* of the total fare.
  • No refunds will be made if you do not show up for your cruise or if you interrupt or cancelyour vacation once it has begun.

The balance of what you paid already, minus the penalty amount, should be refunded to you in whatever form you paid with originally - credit card, gift cards, etc..  At least that’s how it was explained to me!  And oh - we had received a future cruise credit as a gift  on our present cruise because our Mardi Gras cruise was cancelled by Carnival a few months back.  That would also carry forward as a future cruise credit if we wished to rebook (which we will not be doing, unfortunately).

Hope this helps explain how your money will be reimbursed..........

... provided they can stomach a potentially 2-3 week "excursion" following debarkation! Granted, that's a very unlikely outcome - but who knows what the state of affairs will be over the next few weeks. "Humpday" of this whole process is not here yet...

Really, that's the only big downside in my opinion. Everyone must make their own judgement call, and be willing to accept whatever occurs.

DOH has identified 3 cases of #COVID19 who work at Port Everglades. Individuals experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 who recently traveled through Port Everglades should self-isolate until healthy and contact their healthcare provider prior to seeking care.

So just curious - if you are quarantined in your cabin, and you booked interior, are you stuck in that box for days on end with no light or fresh air?

Basically, yes. If you are lucky, you may be able to be escorted to the outside for an hour a day. That's the way it happened on the Princess.

Yuck - might try to upgrade then 🙂

My neighbor is trying desperately to get someone on the phone to cancel her upcoming cruise.  She says there is no place online to cancel (she booked directly thru Carnival).  Any tips for her to get in touch with someone other than the number on the website or information on how to cancel online?  Thanks in advance.

Which was a change, or at the least better wording than he used the first time.  I have no issue with him, he is the man in this dog fight.

LOL!  I meant sunlight!  What is really funny is that there do not seem to be any cancellations opening up.  In fact two of the balcony rooms I was eyeballing are now gone from availability.  Doesn't seem like there is a mass exodus for my cruise in mid-April.

I cancelled and rebooked on Friday too and the refund amount promised has already been credited to my CC, whew! I never received an e-mail invoice/confirmation for the entire transaction. There was a mistake with the second cabin in my booking, the $1228 FCC was not added to the new booking, mine was correctly added to my cabin. Not sure but maybe because it is in my daughter’s name even though it is my booking.

I am not worried though, the FCC must be there and plenty of time to get it fixed. Too crazy right now to try and get through so will wait until it dies down. Thank you for mentioning that refund of Cheers, etc. will take two to three weeks so I won’t concerned about that either. Looking forward to my summer cruise, happy sailing everyone!

What ship are you going on Jim?  I'll leave the light on for you  🙂

Have a great time - with no surprises !!

You save a lot of money and sleep better in a pitch-dark room. Good deal.

It is not easy to find the place to cancel online but I’ll try and break it down:

Log in and go to your cruise planner.

Scroll down and click on Booking order and details.

Scroll down and click on View Balance Details.

Scroll down and click on View Cancellation Information.

Click on Cancel Booking.

You almost need a GPS system to find it, good luck!

Thank you so much!  Just forwarded this information to her - hope she is able to get it to work.
