I suppose they come into their own though when tackling our local pot holes. It's not just the countryside though you only have to watch the TV show A Place In The Sun ! Most of the participants seem to be of an age where looking at them they are going to need a Doctor sooner than later as posted earlier in this thread . There's a beck that runs along the bottom of the garden, and they have ducks wandering around their garden all the time. They can cause a bit of a mess sometimes, but as he says, it's all part of country living. Avril

davecttr Posted June 15, 2021 #22484 Share Posted June 15, 2021 Reminds me of the story of a couple who moved to the countryside and were horrified when they found a local farmer moved his cows for milking down the lane at the end of their drive. Apparently cows eat lots of grass and it eventually comes out the other end. Apparently the couple tried legally to stop the cows being moved down the road 😁
Ardennais Posted June 15, 2021 #22485 Share Posted June 15, 2021 What’s Waitrose??! I’ve never been in one. According to the store locator, the nearest one in 60 miles away over the border, and just over 60 miles away on Ynys Môn!

People living close to the railway line used to complain about the noise from passing trains. She used to tell them that the railway line was there before they moved there. An acquaintance of ours moans about planes taking off and landing from Southend airport. Admittedly the airport wasn't as busy when he moved compared to now (pandemic excepted), but he's so close, it's almost like being at Maho Beach. They knew they were right under the flight path when they moved there. 1

She was brought up here, and wanted the children to learn where food comes from. Visit to a farm duly arranged to watch cows being milked by hand. Following day, complaint from one mother that her child had been deliberately exposed by the school to a disgusting exhibition involving the private parts of cows. Goodness knows what she thought was going on! 4

We will be only about a mile from where we lived 50 years when our Sons was born, it will be very emotional has he is no longer with us. Don't, Its a rubbish tip. Right time to get out whilst the sun still shining , have a good day and stay safe 10
