At least chip shops run an efficient business, and don't alienate all their customers in less than six weeks ! Can I take this opportunity to publicly declare that I will not be standing to be elected as a fish and chip purveyor (or anything else)? 2

kalos Posted October 20, 2022 #39205 Share Posted October 20, 2022 Moving on swiftly to other things , it has done nothing but rain around here today , heavy and plenty of it , which is needed . This reminds me of ...A day at school . The class had to write a short, rhyming, two-lines poem as homework. Sally stands up and proudly recites .. "Yesterday, my Dad and I went to town. He kindly bought me big blue gown ." "That's a lovely poem, Sally !" said the teacher. Now it's Billy's turn. He stands up and recites ... "When October gets cloudy and when heavy rain falls, I love to jump into puddles of water right up to my ankles." The teacher looks perplexed. "But Billy that's not rhyming! Billy replies sadly .. "I know ,I'm sorry Miss . The water wasn't that deep."☺️ Have a good evening 1
Harry Peterson Posted October 20, 2022 #39206 Share Posted October 20, 2022 I’ve surprised myself today, and maybe one or two others who know my main interest outside cruising. Surprised, that is, with considerable personal restraint today, still to be here……….😇

Snow Hill Posted October 21, 2022 #39208 Share Posted October 21, 2022 Hive of activity here this morning, recycling refuse collection day, so green bins (garden waste), Purple bins (plastic, metal & glass), blue bags (paper & cardboard), small grey bins (food waste) all emptied by 7:30, now the mechanical footpath sweeper has just been along clearing fallen leaves from paths, (we had the road sweeper yesterday) . All very efficient from the council.
Rare twotravellersLondon Posted October 21, 2022 #39209 Share Posted October 21, 2022 Oh what a wonderful morning! A super mega grocery delivery is due this morning. Grub for tonight's Trafalgar Day Dinner, ingredients for an Indian night for Dwalli this weekend, a weekly shop, Christmas goodies for the freezer, topping up the cans and packets in pantry (shed) and so on! Even have the charity Christmas cards being delivered. And... there's a few bits and pieces that will find themselves to neighbours and friends who need them and help us out if we ever need a friendly face, a cheerful word or a bit of support. They do the same for us! The email has arrived. It tells us "Your order doesn’t have any substitutions, everything’s present and correct." Whoopie! So the wallet may be thinner but... but the cupboards are full... and the pressies for folk at Christmas are secured. Happy days!

It was also quiz night so we joined that as a table did ok till the sports questions 🙃 forgot to take photos , it was pretty busy with people eating & staying for the quiz & others including our next door neighbour coming just for drink & quiz, it felt very friendly & so glad we went! 6

Britboys Posted October 21, 2022 #39217 Share Posted October 21, 2022 Mostly cloudy here today with a few heavy showers. Got a few odds and ends done this morning then went out for some shopping - greetings cards in the Old Town and food in the New Town. Had a coffee to steel myself for Tesco 😄. Some friends have just booked a 28 night India Golden Triangle Tour plus cruise on Seabourn and thought I might be interested in joining them. Got a quote and for a solo it was going to be over £13,000 so maybe not...

wowzz Posted October 21, 2022 #39219 Share Posted October 21, 2022 Seems awful, but we went to the funeral of one of our neighbours today, and had a good time. Our neighbour was a lovely chap, full of fun, enjoyed a chat, socialising, organising events etc. An all round good bloke. Sadly, he was not so well in the last few months. So, a very nice "Humanist " service, and then to the pub for beer, sandwiches and chips, (and the odd tear). Lots of reminiscing, lots of laughter, and lots of sadness. God speed.

Rare P&O SUE Posted October 22, 2022 #39222 Share Posted October 22, 2022 Morning all, it was our grandson’s 4th birthday yesterday, where have those 4 years gone? We went over to them yesterday afternoon, they didn’t have a party as such as her family is big, so a series of gatherings! He was very excited and the first year he really understood what it was all about. They’re taking him to some sort of dinosaur show today which he’s bound to enjoy as he’s crazy about dinosaurs! In fact one of our presents to him was a dinosaur in a truck so he loved that.
Rare P&O SUE Posted October 22, 2022 #39223 Share Posted October 22, 2022 I meant to add - I got an email about our cruise yesterday- ‘only 50 weeks to go’ - are they serious?! It will soon be time for your cruise it said 😂
