Rare P&O SUE Posted October 27, 2022 #39427 Share Posted October 27, 2022 Hello all, have booked a 4 night cruise to Amsterdam in June, won’t be so stressed about such a short cruise - I hope! Really looking forward to it. Haven’t cancelled the longer cruise in October yet but probably will!
bobstheboy Posted October 27, 2022 #39428 Share Posted October 27, 2022 Air fryer arrived and used ! Easy meal to start, belly pork marinaded in honey, ginger and soya sauce with baby roast potatoes. Absolutely delicious, I'm a convert.

Not too much honey otherwise it will burn.

Put them in bottom of airfryer after belly pork has been cooking for 8 minutes.

Ours was installed by an independent fitter, and his lead time is only a week or so. Does the waiting time relate to a WB service ? You don't have to use them. My fitter is a one man business that specialises in WB boilers. The problem is he has fitted so many new boilers he can't keep up with the maintenance demand. I have about 200 CDs stashed away, which I transferred to an iPod (remember them) 10 years ago. No one wants them, even the local charity shops. No one has CD players anymore, and if anyone wants to listen to Evanescence, they can download it ! But, I just can't bring myself to throw them in the skip. I know they make good bird scarers, but anyone got any ideas what to do with them ?

They’re not crazy about stuff everyone bought way back then, but like some of the more esoteric stuff and artists who are still collectible. We put everything on a Brennan and sold the CDs. Some came in at £10 & £15 but many only 75p - and some they bluntly say “Eek - no thanks!”

We asked at our local Primary School who were happy to take them - they said they would use them in craft projects. Not sure how, but they are clearly more imaginative and creative than me.

Still play our CDs either via Portable CD player, via the TV in Blu Ray Player. Also have music stored on phone and iTouch which replaced the iPod (which I still have) I copy CDs to the iTouch and Phone for use in the car when on long journeys or when we are holiday somewhere. We still play the music, occasionally, via the iPod, but never the physical CD. In fact, most of the time if I fancy a bit of nostalgia (Wishbone Ash, anyone?) it's just easier to stream the track off the internet to the speakers. lincslady Posted October 28, 2022 #39443 Share Posted October 28, 2022 Nice photos, Graham. I think we all assumed it would be Italian. A great one of you two - both lucky to be photogenic. (Said with envy - I am considered reasonably decent looking but look ghastly on photos). Glad you had a happy evening. 2
Son of Anarchy Posted October 28, 2022 #39444 Share Posted October 28, 2022 How technology has moved on over the years. I remember traipsing up to Tottenham Court Road to buy my first CD player over 30 years ago. A Marantz which cost about a months salary at the time. Might have been more. All my old CDs are downloaded on the laptop and backed up to an external hard drive. The CDs themselves are gathering dust on nice wooden CD rack. As people have said, you can barely give them away, but they're not taking up needed space so hanging on to them for nostalgic purposes.

Now I know what you mean; I have a lovely friend with pleasant looks who does NOT photograph well. BUT ….. when people say to me ‘Don’t you take a good photo?’ In my head I hear ‘…… you don’t usually look as good as that ….!’ 😄 2

I avoid having my picture taken whenever possible. ''The camera adds 10lbs'' so it's said, but if that's true why does Frank always look like the 'Silver Fox' and I look like Mrs Blobby?😒 Avril
lincslady Posted October 28, 2022 #39448 Share Posted October 28, 2022 It is not so much looking fatter (though I do, like everyone), it is just that even as a girl I had the sort of face that was considered attractive by some people, but looked plain on photos. I think it may be the lack of noticeable cheekbones, which oddly enough are now more visible with my thinner older face! One of my mother's friends said I looked like Deanna Durbin, who was an old star even when I was young. I bet most of you have not even heard of her; I think she was a singer. It hardly matters now - I am not going to be going on one of those looking for a partner sites!! 4

We produced a nice album of her on EMIs Music for Pleasure label who I worked for 3 years selling records into Woolworths,HMV,Asda,WHS,Boots etc in the early 1980s.
