That's fantastic news you got early laser treatment and 🤞for the future that your eyes are okay.

Graham.

Thank you Graham

I can honestly say without a shadow of doubt, laser eye surgery was life changing.

I hope your vision returns to normal ASAP.

PS sorry for the IOL abbreviation. They are Intraocular lens implants that replace the natural lens

Thank you.

They put an IOL in my eye as part of the cataract op then they pealed away my Epiretinal Membrane which was puckering my macular.

I’m fine graham I was waking up in the mornings with bad headaches after sleeping quite well and I wasn’t spending too much time on my iPad at night while in bed , it helps me to get to sleep quicker than watching tv in bed , I know bad habit 😂  but the headaches were lasting all day for 3 days at a time but a lot of eye twitching, I actually googled it and it can be a sign of a stroke in ladies, but the numbness in my nose and check had me worried, I have noticed my eye lid has dropped a little so went straight to spec savers on Saturday and the gave me a eye test straight away and had a look behind my eye which showed the bleed , pick up my new glasses Tuesday and awaiting for doctors call , headaches have stopped a little but still there .

I hope your operation is a success

Thank you.

I can understand why you were worried with your symptoms.

Good luck with the doctors appointment.🤞

Take care.

So presumably they have to purge them before cooking them? That’s a bit of a faffle. Or do they pickle them instead?

I don't know,I think they cook them up somehow.I'll find out when we go back. We're just the rescue squad when it's raining, lol.

A nice sunny day today 5.c with Mr Blue Sky and a few clouds around.

Today is my last day as a working man even though I haven't been for 15 months.

I now will be retired on ill health, not a lot the cardio team can do so it's the best

thing all round . Not the way I imagined retiring but I'm happy that I had the brains

to save up as a young-un . I will take my pensions next year .Does that make me

a trainee pensioner ? I just hope the cardio team tell me that I'm fit enough to do

cruisers in the future up to yet they have told me avoid hot countries and cold ones,

I think that leaves me sailing around the Isle of Wight. Any notions of a far east cruise

is now a thing of the past . Looking on the bright side I still get to read of where you lot

sail off to.   Anyway just another chapter in my life and I'm truly happy to be a fellow

pensioner with a lot of folks on here . As I am only a "pup" pensioner I am counting on

you lot to give me a few tips along the way , as I am not very good at being grumpy/playing

bowls/fishing or eating molluscs I find roaming the streets :classic_unsure:

Lets all have a good day & stay safe :classic_biggrin:

Wecome to the club Kalos. I felt like you when I reached the grand old age of 60 (only a couple of years ago) I had nightmares about waking up on my birthday with blue permed hair, wearing a long flannelette nightie and fluffy slippers at the side of the bed. Not happenned yet. Take care.

Not bothered about the nightie and slippers then?

Seriously kalos, I know you have health problems that I don't, but at almost 74 in years old I'm still waiting to actually feel old. Your age is in your heart and mind Kalos and from what I've sensed about you,  you will always be a young man.

Retirement is just another phase of your life. I was retired six years ago on ill health aged 50. I have found different things to do, tracing my family tree which is getting complicated and I have joined a gym that has motorised machines that are brilliant as I have MS. Last week I was getting tightness in my chest so my GP sent me to Hospital, turns out I have an irregular electrical pulses through my heart and have to see a heart specialist, not too worried as I am feeling fine and carrying on as normal

Welcome to the young retirees club.

Enjoy your retirement you have earned it by working for so long.

We both retired when we were 55 because David had open heart surgery that was not 100% successful but without it he would not be here now so we cruise and count our blessings.

Purging takes several days and lots of lettuce! I like to know what happens to my food.

I look forward to getting some new Italian snail recipes when you get back.

I don't know whether to congratulate or commiserate Kalos - so I'll congratulate.  Sorry about the circumstances but life can still be brilliant, and unexpected interests and pleasures will come your way when least expected.  A few cruises around the British Isles could keep your cruising intentions going - and there's no chance of extreme heat in the Shetlands.  Let's face it, being a trainee anything at all at our ages is a first in its own right, so make the most of it.  If it were me, I'd probably do the family tree thing, visit Room 101 to get some tips on how to commit a grisly murder,  commit said murder, then write a book - a bestseller of course.  As an aside, Graham told me you like to visit Seaburn, Roker etc.  My dad came from an area called Millfield in Sunderland - long refashioned - but always kept his ties with our North East family.  When he passed away, and when the Stadium of Light was built, we placed a brick with his name on it in the wall (didn't bring them any luck - they're still rubbish).  Watch football is another thing I'd do.  Have a great day and a great weekend.  Jane.X

Thanks to all the good wishes . Avril your right I am a young man trapped in a young mans body ,only the other day I got the urge to take the Mrs tights off ! :classic_ohmy: They made my legs itch :classic_wink:

Michelle ,the good news is the cardio team have you under their radar, so your in good hands and your doing the best thing by not worrying , I think you will be fine.

Josy your so right , we have count our blessings and it sounds like you and David have got this retirement sussed and I wish you well .

Jane , Thank you and your right I do spend a fair bit of time in Sunderland as I just love the coastline up there (Roker/Seaburn area )

It used to be funny when going on holiday and the workmates would ask where we are off to this time . Sometimes my reply could be  .."Atlantic cruise/ Barbados " but their face was a picture when I once said  "Sunderland " and one of the lads so confused and puzzled  asked me "what countries that then ? ":classic_wacko::classic_unsure:

Right folks under Kalos's health and safety welfare rules ..I now deem this time to be a Tea break time    I'm getting used to this OAP lark , Good innit !!  :classic_biggrin:

Work is overrated. I retired early too and it’s amazing what you will find to fill in the all consuming gap of work. It’s all about your attitude to it (and you have a great attitude).

It is another chapter of life. While life closes some doors it opens many, many more and some you really don’t expect.

The joys of retirement:

When the weather is really horrible, snow on the ground, icy blasts - you can stay in bed!

Waiting for permission for annual leave, no! Just book that bargain holiday.

Tight, uncomfortable suits, no just be comfortable!

New hobbies, new experiences, new snail recipes! You can have it all.

enjoy!
