What I like about "our" winters is that every couple of days you get a respite from rain and winds, so that you can replenish your "batteries" and carry on. Today being a Saturday, there were considerably more people walking [and even sunbathing and swimming] on the beach. We kind of expected it, and choose the less popular beach, but still is was quite crowded. One of our grandkids, as well as his father, are running a mild fever, so we found ourselves, unexpectedly, with a "free" WE.... two days in a row walking the beach. And, no matter the pebbles, shells and asphalt from the parking lot until the soft sand, I'm walking barefoot in the memory of my dear friend, who died of ALS, and the thing he most missed was feeling the sand under his bare feet. I cherish every step I take and think of him. I hope the little are okay and wish them a speedy recovery. Beautiful day with great memories of your friend. Hopefully cherishing every step brings peace to your heart and soul. 🥰 1

I hope the weather is as nice as it has been. It is certainly better than those sub freezing temperatures back home. Now I am looking forward to a little sunrise photo competition next week. 14

Rare A&L_Ont Posted January 8, 2022 #43535 Share Posted January 8, 2022 (edited) A few photos from the last few days. Lucy disappeared for about 30 hours. I called our neighbours on the drive home to see if she was sleeping in their shop. She wasn’t there but she was waiting for me on our porch when I arrived at home. She hung out while I topped up the bird feeders. I think she was looking for “wings”. Lisa left to go grocery shopping the next morning and she didn’t see Lucy to feed her before departing, even though there were foot prints in the snow. It is no wonder she didn’t see her, Lucy snuck into the garage as she pulled out. I found her 30 minutes later when I was going into the garage. Smart kitty. Most other rides you look far left or right and you lose the effect. We went on it twice and the second time we saw a lot we missed the first time. We have a 6:30 reservation for the restaurant. I'll take pics. With it being the weekend OB should be able to handle some evening food pics. 😆 4

Walking barefoot on the beach in the long Israeli summer is one of them. Ronen lost the ability to swallow relatively quickly in the expected "evolution" of ALS. I've kind of thought he'll miss a juicy hamburger [with fries, always with fries]. NO. He astonished me with the "walking barefoot"....😢

Both our tractors also have transmission heaters, over and above the block heaters, for when it gets really cold for long periods of time. The blower tractor is also our loader tractor. The loader comes off and the blower gets mounted on the same end. That is where the PTO is located, which runs the blower. The big advantage is the blower is situated so I don’t have to look backwards. It’s right in front of me. The spout and shield are both hydraulic. I can drop the snow 1 foot away and with a quick change in seconds send it 85 feet the other direction. The view from the cab. The blower is 2,400 lbs and the rear wheels have a 1,000lb weight on each side. There is no bouncing around from being weighted heavy on one end.
StanleyandGus Posted January 8, 2022 #43540 Share Posted January 8, 2022 It was -26 C (-14 F) earlier this morning when we were doing errands. The wind chill made it feel like -41 (the same no matter how you measure it). We came home to no power, but it’s on now. Cups of tea, and lovely warmth!

I'm a little confused, in the garage it looks like the PTO is on the back of the tractor where the blower and loader attach to, but which way does seat face? toward the exhaust stack on the hood, or is it as you are saying face the attachments? Like you said you better have weight on the other end because tractor looks like it's ready to do a nose dive. Are the tires the same size or just the garage picture is distorted? Tires near the snow blower look a little larger.
