I received a phone call from a very good friend that her Father passed away (he has been in hospice program).     Funeral will be Saturday morning.    I had no idea but her Father was much older than her Mother - he lived and enjoyed life for 97 years!

Sending our condolences for your friend and all her family and friends for the loss of her dad.

The rain you had arrived here early this morning.   Cold, windy 55f here.   Rain supposed to stop soon but temps will be low 60s at most.   Definitely not A beach day😔

Good thing I cleaned all the windows inside and out this weekend.

I am way behind so sorry if already asked..... How's the can opener 🤔

Sent two of our cars off to FL today. Our tenant has agreed to meet the haulers and park the cars in the garage until we get there next week.

We made it back to our house safely yesterday afternoon.  Some small branches down but no damage.
Checked the garden and was surprised how much it has grown.
The Delicious tomatoes doubled in size but were blown over somewhat.

To give an idea how much they grew and blew over notice the stick that was supporting the plant before I left.  The plant was about twice the size of the stick and standing up.

The peppers are looking great.

The hardneck garlic is doing great.  The first two rows of softneck not as good.

Today I spent a few hours hooking tomatoes to the trellises and cleaning up.

Everything Looks Great!!!    Tomato plants definitely love the heat and humidity.    When is your usual first pick of tomatoes?     Ours is usually around 4th of July.     Did you have timers set up to water while you were away?    We usually put a timer for our garden beds and my neighbor the "cat sitter" waters the flower pots and the herb garden on the other side of our shed.

Sorry to hear.  Even when you are blessed to have family for 97 years it's hard when they leave.

Greg, if you mean what happened in the Texas school, I'm with you, and as angry and heartbroken as you. 😢

I agree wholeheartedly with both of you .

Dani , I read on the book of faces that a cruiser’s  itinerary was diverted from Jerusalem .  That is a disappointing situation,. Now , they have two port days in Haifa. I had mentioned to you our stay in Haifa while dealing with the Technion University. While , it’s a great visit they must be upset about missing out on Jerusalem .

You must be so excited. Are you really meeting up with the captain on Beyond ? You are par excellence an extraordinary planner and organizer .

When I have cherry tomatoes going they are ready to pick about the 3rd week of June.  For some reason I have not had luck yet getting cherry tomatoes going.   Not giving up.  Larger tomatoes  start the last of June, first of July.

No timers.  I rely totally on the core gardening and it hasn't failed yet.  It would of helped if I hard someone pruning and hooking the plants to the trellises.

It is so sad.Why are these young boys going to these extremes?

Such a horrible, disgusting, senseless tragedy.     Not sure we will have understand.

Very sad and so scary for the children to witness such violence.    Those poor babies will be traumatized.

I hope the anniversary of George Floyd's death tomorrow does not bring violence anywhere.

If everyone’s family was like the extended family we have here, the world would be a much better place!

Had a great grandparents day at the grandkid’s school today.  Breakfast with granddaughter and lunch with grandson.  Now we are packing again, this time for California. Looking forward to seeing our other grandson tomorrow night.  Son has a two week business trip to France, Germany, and Amsterdam, so we will take care of getting grandson to and from school for his last couple of weeks.  I am sure Susan and I will get some walking in.

I am doing core gardening for the first time but set up my timer to water for 15 minutes per day while we are down the shore.    When I get home I will see how the core gardening does with water retention and decide whether to set the timer for when we come back down to the shore house for 2 weeks in June.

It does look nice.  What's a scape, please? They look kind of like green onions?

There are 2 general types of garlic, hardneck and softneck. You can tell the difference when opening a bulb.  The hardneck has a hard straw like stick in the middle of the cloves.  When hardneck is in its last stage of maturity,  a scape grows out of the middle of it.  If left the tip developes a flower.  If you pull the scapes  early, before flowering, the energy will concentrate on enlarging the bulb instead of the flower.

The scape can be used similar to green onions.  Instead of a mild onion taste you have a mild garlic taste. This year I am going to try making some pesto with them using the scapes in place of basil.

Look towards the middle of the pic and you can see the curly scape.

This thread needs a new title.  Is anyone on these boards in lockdown?

I have been thinking the same thing.

The only lockdown these days are those folks testing positive while on a cruise.
