Keksie Posted December 31, 2023 #111978 Share Posted December 31, 2023 Happy New Year's Eve to all. I am volunteering this afternoon and we will probably be sound asleep at midnight. Lol. Tomorrow we will walk on the beach but it may be a quick walk since it may be chilly. Then we will watch the bowl games. Roll Tide. Hook em Horns. 7
Rare A&L_Ont Posted December 31, 2023 #111979 Share Posted December 31, 2023 (edited) Finally a sunrise today. It’s going to be in the 80s and sunny for the next few days. Lots of work going on here preparing for NYE celebrations tonight. They have places set up for free and premium seating for a fee. Not sure what the night brings us. We understand that there will be actual fireworks, not just the families that have spent too much time together exploding. 😜 Edited December 31, 2023 by A&L_Ont 13

Had no internet service until getting back to a very cold FLL where it's 50 degrees outside. Almost like being back at home in Bay Area. Few pics from later part of the cruise. Don't know why the CC software keeps rotaing my portrait pictures
harryfat1 Posted December 31, 2023 #111981 Share Posted December 31, 2023 Here at 270 chilling with hundreds of BFFs to depart the Odyssey. No hurry to get off the ship as our flight is later this afternoon. Either wait here with free drinks and comfy sofa or bad seats at FLL and everything with a price tag.

There's an awful lot of ports, though I admit i don't think I could stay on a ship for longer than 3 weeks max

MJSailors Posted December 31, 2023 #111988 Share Posted December 31, 2023 Happy New Year, everyone! The various posts about RCL’s World Cruise caused me to do a bit of research. (Yes,it was a quiet day yesterday, so the research gave me something to do!). I looked at some cruise line companies that have done these cruises for a number of years. Princess-WC for January 2025-116 days,51 destinations,26 countries,6 continents. HAL-January 2025- 124 days,46 ports,32 countries. Viking- January 2025- 138 days-57 ports,28 countries,5continents. For those of you thinking about a 2024 WC, Cunard has availability- January 2024-107 nights. All sold out except for Queens Grill Suites from $197,599. The length of these cruises seem more doable than RCL IMHO. Getting back to the RCL WC, I would like to thank @island lady (I think her name is Pat and DH’s name is Bucky.). for taking the time to post updates on her impressions and experiences of the cruise. Wishing you continued good days and interesting adventures! There is a couple posting their WC experiences on You Tube. I think they go by Life Phase 2. I don’t have a link to their site, but if you search YT for the RCL World Cruise, they should come up. They are documenting both their experiences on the ship and the excursions they are taking. Enjoy the day! MJ🙎🏻♀️ 5

Our Internet is not working,so I have to use my phone. I know I missed so very much on here. I hope everyone had a great Christmas as well as any celebrations. @Sunshine3601Debbie I am so sorry for your SIL's family. harryfat1 Posted December 31, 2023 #111993 Share Posted December 31, 2023 @h20skibum Mark, As discussed on your Symphony cruise review, here are few pics of the speed of the Odyssey. Going down, we were zipping along at 20 knots on first couple of days and got as high as 21 knots. Coming back it's about 18 knots.

They did up our speed to around 20 knots, when we had the port change from Labadee to Nassau. Guess they had to make that port by a specific time. Were you able to have your Labadee stop? Safe travels back to SFO. Our family is still at the beach house, and they don’t fly out till mid week.

I read about someone who had done both a Princess and a Viking WC. He said by the time they had paid for all the extras on Princess, Viking was almost the same cost for a much better experience. We still hope to do one someday….
harryfat1 Posted December 31, 2023 #111996 Share Posted December 31, 2023 Here at FLL with new set of BFFs waiting for next several hours before we can board the plane for a 6.5 hour direct flight back to California. This is the the glamorous part of vacation seldom seen on YouTube. While waiting, looking at few more random picture from the cruise. Samsung phones are amazing in its zooming abilities. Took this from outside cabin. Can't upload the portrait modd pictures as CC software keeps fliiping it sideways 14

Thanks. Safe travels for your family as well. We'll be here at the airport for few hours before the long flight home. Yeah, we made it to Labadee. Tried to upload few mooring line pics from Labadee as that was the only port on our sailing you can walk up to take the pictures but CC software keeps rotating my portrait pictures sideways so can't do that until getting home. Very crowded ship as it's Christmas sailing. It was over 5,250 on the Odyssey, which is over 125% of double occupancy. Tons of kids and families. Many large groups of 10+ people. 10

Oh no, sorry to hear about the drive to Naples from NJ not going well. I was wondering when you would be back on. I figured you were getting settled and visiting with neighbors you haven't seen since last Spring. We had a very nice Christmas. Hope you did too! It is very sad for her Mother. The loss of two of her three children in the last 15 months has hit her hard. Linda says she is very sad/depressed and hardly eating. Which is not good either. Here's hoping 2024 is better for Everyone! Happy New Year Cheers 🍾
