Ok I just went and took pictures of MY casino lucky machine. @Lionesssor someone are you around. I did learn credits are calculated off your $$$. So at 2 cents, its showing me half of the dollars I think. The other man said press credits to see dollars. I still dont see how much each bet is. It shows rows and multipliers and how many credits I'm betting, not how much cash. So I'm supposed to figure double each credit is dollars bet? I took pictures and dont see dollars. It's a old machine but was lucky. I won free games and money. I'll go back to that one. But it would be nice to know what amount im betting. Note where it says 450 bet...above says CREDITS. Not $$$. Everything is shown in credits. Which at 2 cents means double?

I have thoroughly enjoyed all the pictures of the Northern Lights. After seeing the pics posted last night, I went outside around 11:00 pm and then again at midnight but saw nothing. Not sure if the light show was over by then or is there is too much light pollution in my area. Or  maybe it was just bad timing.

Does anybody know if it's supposed to happen again tonight?  It's supposed to be a crystal clear night.

Congratulations to my Yankees for beating KC , KC is a talented ream .

I already said we are redoing on of our three bathrooms ( I still don’t understand why) it is only used maybe a couple of weeks out of the year, our master bedroom was done a decade ago , we removed the tub for a huge double shower, wondering what your thoughts are , I am insisting we still have one bathroom with a tub for resale, third bathroom just has a shower.

On to ALCS!  I'm not taken anything for granted, just enjoying the ride. There have been too many "This is Their Year" that have ended disappointingly early in recent years.

And while I can't remember the last time I sat in a regular bathtub - I prefer showers - I agree with others, keep the bathtub for resale value if you plan on moving out some day.  If you plan live in the house for the rest of your life, then make it your own and the heck with resale value.

I knew the Yankees would win. The Royals are much improved and went further than I would ever believe. Unfortunately without revenue sharing and parity teams like NY with their deep pockets will always be able to afford the best players.

KC had an incredible year, going from losing 106 games last year to making the playoff this year and knocking out Baltimore in the process. All 4 games were close nail biters and one swing of the bat could have easily changed to outcome of each game.

I am hopeful they can improve more next year. Hopefully the sting of losing in a he playoffs will help them get more of a drive going. I just wish I could have watched them this year. The Royals TV network is on Bally Sports which YouTube tv doesn’t carry. Very frustrating.

I wouldn’t be putting money in a slot machine before I understood how it works . If you are playing a quarter machine and put in $100 it will show 400 credits .  So , divide the credits by 4 to get the dollar wins . That machine is quite complicated for me anyway with line multipliers .  Sue has posted a very extensive explanation way back and is more knowledgeable .

From google :
On a dime machine ——-

Dime machines: 20 credits = $2.00, 100 credits = $10.00, 200 credits = $20.00, 1,000 credits = $100.00, and 2,000 credits = $200.00. Some casinos make it easy to keep track

So bear with me for a second. Some of the older machines, you needed to do the math. For example:

$20 in a quarter machine  = 80 credits. $20 / .25 = 80

$20 in a nickel machine = 400 credits. $20 / .05 = 400

Newer machines, especially those with multiple winning lines & mulipliers will do the math for you. So 450 credits is $4.50.  Some machines will give you the choice of showing credits or dollars but the only difference is that it will put in the decimal point when show dollars and the $ sign

Having said that, I can't figure out from the picture how much you're betting. 30 lines x 3 multiplier is 90  X 2 cents should be 180 credits. But 450 is showing which would suggest you are betting 5 cents, 90 X 5 = 450.  It's a multi denomination machine meaning you get the choose what each credit is worth, 1c, 2c, 5c or 10c. But since the 2c is highlighted, that would suggest you a betting 2 cents a credit.

Confused? So am I.

Is it possible that you were betting 5 cents & then accidentally switched it to 2 cents when taking the picture?

Perhaps one of the casino staff can help.

Yeah Bobby is going to be great. I sure hope teams leave Bally. It's stupid not pick a network that most people can't see. Google Fiber and YouTube TV started in KC and have a huge viewership here and to not carry the Royals Network is horrible.

I grew up in NJ and was a Yankees fan but since I have lived in SE Michigan I am a Tigers fan.  The Tigers have also recently had very bad seasons so they fell off the radar.  But, this year's comeback has been super fun and unexpected.  Was really hoping they would have won last night (DH was at game) but alas one more try!  We also had the Bally Sports fiasco in Detroit!

All these great looking food photos, I thought I would show some from what Susan calls the “not great” category.  Note, her opinion and mine may differ.

You can see 2 cents is lit up like when I played. So I still think credits x 2 is $$$?

Did a next cruise booking yesterday and because I'm dp340 he had to add the $50 by hand and said he woukd email final today. Some girl says takes miami 48 hours. Tomorrow is turn around. I will wait and remind him. He did t even print me a copy of the booking had to run do the crew drill. It's not like I have to be somewhere. I'll wait. Today it's very busy here. Everyone waited for last day and  next cruise is hopping. Just wanted to remind him since he didnt have time to print me off a copy.

I'll take a shot at explaining this.  A credit is worth whatever the betting amount is on the machine.  On a 2-cent machine, a credit is worth 2 cents.  You would need to multiply your credits by 50 (since 2 cents goes into a dollar 50 times) to see what you are betting in dollars.  If you're playing a 25-cent machine, each credit is worth 25 cents, and you'd need to multiply your credits by 4 (since 25 cents goes into a dollar 4 times) to see your bet in dollars.

The machine that you are playing lets you bet multiple "lines".  On an old-fashioned slot machine, there was only one line...the horizontal line across the center of the spinning wheels. You needed to match things on that single center line.  Newer digital machines can pay out on the horizontal lines above and below the center line, or even a horizontal line 2 lines above or 2 lines below the center.  Add in diagonal lines, zig zag lines, and you can have many different ways that a digital slot machine will pay out.

On your specific machine, you've selected that a credit is worth 2 cents.  That means that a basic bet on one "line" costs one credit, or 2 cents.  You've selected the 30 lines for 150 credits button in the top row on the right.  This means that you are betting 5 credits (10 cents) per line rather than just one credit (2 cents), and have 30 possible combinations of horizontal, diagonal, zig-zag, etc, lines that will pay out. If you match anything on any of the 30 lines, your payout will be 5X normal (since you are betting 5 credits per line instead of 1).  You can tell this from where it says "Lines Played 30".  This normally costs 150 credits, or $3 (since each credit is worth 2 cents).  However, you've also selected the 3X bet multiplier button in the middle of the bottom row of buttons.  You can see this on the screen where it says "Bet Multiplier 3".  That means that instead of it costing 150 credits for 30 lines, it costs 3X that much, or 450 credits.  Any payout that you get will also be 3X the normal payout.  450 credits is the equivalent of $9 at 2 cents per credit.

In summary, what you show in your pictures is a $9 bet that has 30 opportunities to win (30 different possible payout "lines") and will payout 15X the normal amount if you win anything. It pays out 5X normal since you selected 30 lines for 150 credits instead of 30 lines for 30 credits.  And it pays an additional 3X the normal amount since you selected the 3X multiplier. 5X times 3X is 15X payout.

The advantage of this type of machine is that you will normally win something on just about every spin, since you have 30 different payout line opportunities.  The disadvantage is that you are putting in a lot of money on every spin and even though you will see a lot of payouts, many will be less than the $9 per spin that you are putting in.  An older machine that only pays on a single horizontal line across the center will payout much less often (many spins won't match anything) but will also cost much less per spin.  Which is best depends on whether or not you can handle having a lot of losing spins or prefer the excitement of having a lot of winning spins.

Hope that makes sense.

I’m only doing this because I think you’re the type of person who likes debating . If you put a $100 in a quarter machine you get 400 credits because there are 4 quarters in a dollar. To convert the 400 credits back into dollars you divide by 4 or multiply by .25 . If you did like you propose the 400 in credit becomes 1600 .

Anyhow , the slots  are controlled by random number generators and the result is instantaneous when you hit the button or pull the lever . Everything is for show.  The spinning reels and the almost wins are there to keep you playing and entertainment with flashing lights and noise .

My question to you is if it’s random how do they determine how often the machine pays out ?

No hurt feelings if I’m wrong .

You are correct.  I said it backwards.  I should have said that you divide by 50 rather than multiply by 50 for the 2 cent machines (or divide by 4 rather than multiply by 4 for the 25 cent machines).  Good catch.  And I agree that it's all for show.

My understanding is that the machines are set to pay out a certain % of every dollar bet.  Some machines will return, for example, 98 cents of every dollar spent over time.  Other machines may only return 90 cents of every dollar spent.  This is all controlled by the software program within the machine, in compliance with whatever gaming commission is in charge in that location.  Land based casinos supposedly put the high payout machines near the entrances so that there is a lot of winning on these machines (lots of bells and coins dinging in the tray) to get people to come into the casino.  No idea if this is true on a cruise ship.

My Optimum channels have 2 Bally Sports- southwest channels that haven't shown anything for a few months now.  When you go to the channels it says that Diamond Sports Group is currently in active bankruptcy proceedings related to its future content rights with various sports leagues.

Fingers crossed that it changes. Royals used to be on FS 1 which is Fox Sports. My guess Bally offered more money and they got the contract even though the viewership is greater with FS 1.
