I was one of the youngest when I graduated high school.  Started school a year early, missed kindergarten.  Always said I was too smart so they bumped me up to first grade😁

The year I was to start kindergarten we moved to Massachusetts.   They did not have kindergarten there.  It's crazy how now 3 and 4 year old kids go to school.

It is crazy.  Kindergarten was not even mandatory back in my day.  I remember when my older daughter started kindergarten they had just gone to full days!  I thought what could they do with them all day, but she left there reading and writing.

I can’t believe no one has mentioned the Rangers game yet.  There had to be a lot of celebrating when Kreider got his third period hat trick to come from behind against the Canes.

😎😎😎😎

I've been too busy shopping for a new carpet to replace the one I wore a hole in as I paced back and forth the last 20 minutes of the game.  😀

Needless to say I'm ecstatic. I had an opportunity to go to MSG for a viewing party. $10 a ticket, all proceeds going to charity. But instead, I stayed home where the beer is cheaper (MSG Price is $18 + tip = twice the price of the seat)  & recorded the game as I was watching it so I'll re-watch the 3rd period again tonight.  Maybe twice.

Kreiders natural hat trick in one period of a playoff game puts him in very select company, joining only The Great One Wayne Gretzky & Mark Messier who is pretty much a god in this town, as the only other players for the Rangers to do it.  Messier did it in 1994 on the way to a Stanley Cup victory so naturally this is being added to the ever growing list of parallels between the 2024 & 1994 teams.

The kids seem a lot better but my daughter is still dealing with a lot. She misses him, they were together 23 years so it makes sense.  Thank you so much for your support.

I remember when that happened. I'm so sorry. I cannot imagine.

@DaniDanielle I also skipped kindergarten as the parochial school that I attended did not have a kindergarten program in 1958. The principal put me into 1st grade so I wouldn’t have to wait another year to go to school.

So, I was always the youngest in my class. College freshman-I was 17.

The drinking age was 18 in NY, but I somehow convinced the bouncers at the bars my friends went to that I had to be with my friends, flashed a smile and somehow I always got in with my friends.

I have stayed in touch with a number of HS friends.class of 1970.

Four of us are very close.

I am godmother to one of my friend’s daughters and we are aunt and uncle to another friend’s two children. For 58 years we have remained tight. Through thick and thin (literally!). Old friends are the best!

Actually, we are planning an overnight at a resort on LI in June. Four of us are looking forward to seeing each other in person. Phone calls and texts are okay, but visiting together is the best!

On another note, my sympathy to your daughter and her children.

Anniversaries when our loved ones passed are never easy.

Maybe she and her children can do something that their Dad enjoyed doing will help them to commerate

him.

Take care

I went to a parochial kindergarten in 1954 in Brooklyn, I started working in Wall Street when I was 17 since I was 6’4” and in a suit and tie I had no problems drinking in bars in lower manhattan, I graduated high school in 1966. Next week I will meet two of my boyhood friends, it was a much bigger group a few years ago but a few passed , but we do meet every year on our New York visits.

Bimini.

Nothing much to see just the most goreous bluest waters. There is Hilton, a Resorts World casino attached to it, a Fisherman Village shopping area, and a tram that takes you around these places and the Bimini beach. Closest walking distance beach right down the pier is Paradise Beach where the water is a blissful blue, but it smells of poop since there a sewer water outlet right there. No facilities but chairs and umbrellas to rent, and snack trucks.

We rode the tram around, walked for a bit and went back on the ship. HOT and sweltering is putting it mildly.

In the first picture below, the building is the Hilton. Mainly catering to visitors/gamblers on the Balerea and other ferries that come from South Florida.

We disembark tomorrow. Short 6 day cruise and enjoyed a lot. Very nice ship. Food is really great....far superior than Royals food. We have been reading reports of noise in cabins, but ours is peaceful and we have not heard disturbing banging or creaking noises.

We are thankful to be able to cruise.

One of my son in laws is such a Rangers fan that he has a room in his house painted in the Rangers colors. He is good friends with Stefan Matteau and even has a chair for him with his name on it for whenever he visits my daughter and family.

Drinking age at 18 was interesting.  We had a lot of New Jersey visitors back in the day!

MJ, enjoy your visit with your friends.

I do not recall people ever being asked for proof of age when I began going to bars.

I'm so sorry, Marietta.  It's so hard.  My sister-in-law was a young widow also.  We were in our late 30's when Bob passed,  My nephews were 13 and 15.  My SIL did a great job raising the two boys, as I know your daughter is also with her son and daughter.  God Bless.🙏

The only time I was asked was on the night of my eighteenth birthday!

The only times that I was "carded" was when I'd go to the bars in New Jersey, where the drinking age was 21.  I had wonderful id that "proved" I was 21.....😁  Just sayin....

I had just turned 4 years old in August, when I started Kindergarten in September.  The Catholic school that my older siblings attended wouldn't take me until I was 6, so I spent a second year in Kindergarten with the same teacher, Mrs. Marino.😊

My Grandson Jack has been at it again!  Last week, we attended a Congressional Art Contest for High School Students, where the winner's picture would be hanging in Congress for an entire year.  The whole affair was lovely...it was catered prior to the Awards.  There were 100 entries that were judged, and Jack's picture called "A Cup of Sea".  Jack came in 7th Place and several people came up to him saying that his picture was their favorite.

Today, at the New Jersey State High School Film Challenge 2024,  Jack was awarded "Best Film Director" for the film that he and his group had entered into the Contest.

His group consists of 6 students.  They spent many days filming this film that could only be 3 minutes long.  Jack would spend endless hours editing, etc.  Jack's group also won "Best Overall Film" for their film titled "Fire".  The group also won "Best Production Design" for their film.

Last year, Jack won "Best Documentary" for his film.

This kid, though...❤️

@Luckynana

Maryann,

Literally "scratching my head", but couldn't find an equivalent for "naches" in English.... So glad Jack is bringing you and all the family so much "naches" 😘

naches --

the Yiddish dictionary says it's either a pleasure, or gaining satisfaction, the proud enjoyment of something or to derive pleasure from something. It can mean different things to different people. Naches is generally referred to as "love" or "joy"

I like Mac n Cheese, but never could figure out that Cheese Curd Poutine stuff, so stay away from that stuff!

Would go for the Triple Play Tenders followed up with a Soft Pretzel with a Michelob Ultra.

Then go for a Smash Burger  with the Truffle Mac N Cheese with Lobster.

Sweets... Dolce Gelato (Pistachio)
