Yep, me too. I don't think I've ever been out of my cabin that long unless it was a port day.  BUT let's hope it won't be a consideration anyway. 🙂

You might be surprised when you start adding them up - especially if you are an early riser.  I am and usually go to the sea view pool so I don’t disturb DH.  So an easy couple of hours there, couple of hours at lunch time Lido, etc, lectures (another hour at least), Happy Hour, Bingo, Casino, Sip N Savour, MDR & show (if you go) or Billboard or entertainment at night, etc.

You’d be surprised how much you would have to wear it.  I’m with you - let’s hope it is not a consideration 🤞 🙏🏻

Happy afternoon everyone!  Thank you for the Daily Rich.  Thank you for your list Roy and thanks for thinking of my mother and her residence home.

Fried rice is one of our favorites but don't usually add pineapple, I like to add bacon or pork plus extra scrambled eggs and green onions.  I don't think I have all the ingredients though.  Roy's menu suggestion sounds good and I have a pork roast in the fridge but not making that today.  Gosh, I just have too many leftovers!  I love chocolate covered things also, one of my favorites is dark chocolate covered marshmallows and dark chocolate covered potato chips.

Four years ago yesterday and today were sea days on the Westerdam and Christmas was showing up all over.  Our favorite was this display:

And this cracked me up with the tiny HAL ships:

This train was so cute:

Have a great day everyone!

PS @Copper10-8 any word on Ine's DH.  I'm thinking he should be back home.

Hi Roy; I'm thinking you can take Ton off your list, thanks very much for having him on it!! On Friday of last week Ine relayed the following:

This Friday, Ton was brought to the hospital in Beverwijk (from Amsterdam where the procedure took place one week ago last Monday), which is just about 15 minutes from our home. He is making progress. The heart film and blood tests were all good.

This afternoon he walked to and from the toilet by himself, also he made a short stroll in the corridor, and sat in a chair for about one hour. Only his taste for food is not back yet however, he ate the tangarine which I brought him.
I just wanted to share this good news with you

I am not sure that DH and I want to wear a mask on a cruise ship, if those are the regulations we may just have to wait it out.

DH and I feel the same way.  I don’t have a problem wearing a mask when we’re out, but on a ship, I think it would change the experience.  Our guess is the cruise lines will require proof of vaccination to board like they do with the yellow fever shot.

I don’t mind wearing a mask when I am shopping, etc but wearing a mask on a ship would entail a much longer time frame and not sure if we would want to do it or not.  I’m hoping that the vaccine is out and I certainly don’t mind to continue to wear one shopping to protect others.  With luck the ships will require a vaccine to board and, if that is the case there should be no need for a mask if all goes as it should.  🤞

Unfortunately, the current CDC guidelines say that we should still wear masks for the time being...

If I get vaccinated, does that mean I can stop using the 3W’s,
wearing a mask/face covering, washing my hands or waiting at least
6 feet from others?

No, because data are limited on the vaccine’s ability to prevent
asymptomatic infection and transmission. The basic practices we’ve all
adopted to protect ourselves, families and the community must remain in
place. In the long-run, with enough of the American and global population
vaccinated (aka herd immunity), we may be able to return to a more
normal, pre-pandemic daily life.

I hated to hear that cause I am really tired of this mask...

Correct.  For the time being we have to wear a mask as it isn't determined yet if the vaccine only protects you or stops you from spreading it.

Until we reach herd immunity we all have to wear masks, vaccinated or not.

When I referred to the no mask on the ship it would only be if it were a requirement to have a vaccine and proof to board.  If everone is vaccinated on board then there is, in essence herd immunity and I don't see why a mask should be required if everyone is vaccinated.

Hello Everyone!

Thank you for posting, fun to read about everyone's adventures  as we navigate this Covid world.

Great reason to celebrate today as I have never met a chocolate I didn't like!  Would love to try the Snowflake Martini but I think it would taste best sitting on a balcony in the Caribbean!

Grandson is not counting down to Christmas............he is counting down to Puppy Day! (so is Grandma)  We are both getting puppies (same litter) on December 23, 2020!  The Grandsons lost their dog in September (she didn't wake up one morning) and I lost my old dog 2 1/2 years ago.  I had told my self with traveling and getting older I wasn't going to get another dog, I would just play with the Grand dog..................well I found I am really missing not having a dog around..........and son told me he would take the dog if something happens to Mom & Dad!  So problem solved I am getting a puppy too!  They are A # 1 mutts but will perfect family dogs!

Take care and stay safe!

Good evening everyone - good grief, I didn't think the pic of me and my mask would turn into the size of a 2 page spread!  It was supposed to have been a "small" size version of the original . . .

Update on yesterday's package sent by courier - it arrived 2 hours ahead of the scheduled delivery time - yay for Purolator!

@VictOriannyou can save yourself a lot of time if you pick up some sequinned fabric.  I actually got the piece for my mask from Dollar Tree.  I've done some sequin applique in the past, and it's very tedious work!

Smooth Sailing!

Congrats on the puppies. 🙂.  You do realize you will not be getting much sleep for the next few weeks?  Hopefully Santa will forgive you if you are up 😉

A year ago this day we were on the Westerdam, docked in Keelung, Taiwan.  My BIL picked us up and we visited the National Palace Museum in Peitou, had a great meal at a restaurant, and returned to the ship in the evening.  Sara had flown to Taipei in November to be there to vote in the presidential election in January.  To break up our separation, I flew to Hong Kong from Seattle and she from Taipei and we joined the Westerdam there on 7 December.  She then flew back to Taipei from HK after the two week cruise.  Then flew home after the election the first week in January.  We enjoyed it so much that when I got home I booked a 42 day B2B2B on the Westerdam.  Unfortunately, it ended up being closer to two weeks with the stay in Cambodia.  Oh well, better luck next time.

I have become used to wearing a mask, and could do it on a cruise ship.  I could also wear one in the ports.  The biggest concern I have is whether the ports will welcome us while we walk around on our own.

Well, the sunset photo sent to me today from Florida by DS is a no go!  It rained and they didn't see the sun at all.  Thank goodness they had such a beautiful sunrise this morning.

So I looked back to some sunset photos on our cruises.  This one was on Emerald Princess on Sept. 28, 2011 as our ship neared Fort Lauderdale after a month-long Baltic cruise and transatlantic.  enhance

I, too, could wear a mask on board and in port.   My concern is having to do ship excursions.  That could be a deal breaker, depending on the itinerary.

I started reading the thread and reached for my daily ration of Cadbury Hazelnut chocolate bar. Thanks for the thread. I love the quote. I love the meal suggestion, but my son brought in Popeye's for dinner, along with cake, to celebrate my birthday. My choice because I didn't want to go out to eat.

It was a lazy day filled with FB videos, phone calls and Zoom calls.

I'm loving the fancy masks being shown. I'm going to have to get my personal seamstress on the job. 🙂

Have a wonderful evening. Thanks again to everyone.

Be well. Stay safe. Be kind. Wear a mask! 😷

Happy Wednesday All!

Am a bit late to the party today. Had another all day class (day 3) and am now on to other things.

Sharing a few pictures from this day in 2015: Veendam was in Matzatlan. I went to Stone Island and did a horseback ride and walk on the beach, then into town.

Veendam’s Christmas village got some additions.

You have excellent taste in birthdays - today is mine, as well!😁

Between calls and video chats, I never did make a post today! Greetings all, and here’s the missing floor mat at the tail end of Wednesday!

I hear you on the ship excursions on some itineraries.  If the ships’ excursions did something more in depth and not just “highlights” it would possibly be different but sadly, it is not.
