July 25, 2021 Live From Majestic Princess Alaska sailing

I've been on 3 Alaska cruises and the presenters and demonstrations noted in the North to Alaska section all happened.  Maybe we were just lucky?  I know the presenters come on the ship and then leave before the ship heads to the next port.

I've been on 7 Princess Alaska cruises (hopefully 8 by mid-next month) and would agree with you about the local presenters.  And on every one of those 7 cruises Libby Riddles has given her amazing talk about her experiences training for and winning the Iditarod.  I know that she had traveled to Juneau from her home in Homer to give her talks on the Princess ships that visited.  I would suspect that it wasn't worth it for her to travel to Juneau to work for an hour one day a week on one ship for two months.  And it's likely that is the case with some others who provided the onboard enrichment.  It sounds like Princess is doing the best they can under the circumstances.

my wife and I will both have Plus - if we both want a glass of wine on the balcony - will we each have to order those separately or can we each order a glass at the same time on one device/login

I am solo but I know @CruiseRaiderhas used it for both her and DH. When I see her later I’ll ask if she’s answered yet.

No specials by the pool in Juneau or Skagway. I love those pop ups.  I hope they come back for later sailings. Yes to all your other questions except the pictures at night question as I don’t know what it means.
the north to Alaska program is alive and well!

Thanks!  I just meant the pictures they take most nights in the atrium.  I love the on deck pictures with the glacier in the background, so happy to hear they did that.  But no port pictures or embarkation, right?  Something said they wouldn't be doing those.

Wow, I am loving this thread, living vicariously thru you guys!

We really appreciated seeing the Author of "A Wolf Called Romeo".   So great!

It is amazing to hear that more of the North to Alaska programs seem to be onboard for EACH sailing!

And, yes, a bit off topic...  But I was also posting how the Majestic is the one ship that does not have the Sanctuary, but the open access adult area.   I had even included links to a couple of good videos for newbies, one with the Sanctuary on the Sky Princess.

But, looks like that didn't go thru!!!

@Mary Ann 2correct no embarkation photos. And no photos getting off in port. I asked a security person when I got off and she said only security is allowed off ship. No crew.

exceeeept Captain Dino. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh don’t tell anyone. Lol

there are lots of photo ops on formal and casual nights.
@PROCRUISEon the first formal night I saw well over 2 dozen women in full blown Queen Mary 2 worthy floor length gowns. Fully sequined, gorgeous satins. Just fabulous. They were escorted by equally fabulous men in tuxes. I was roaming about from around 4:30 in the elite happy hour lounge through mid ship piazza and vines until my dinner at 5:40. And then piazza again after.  Many others were dressed very nicely you could tell an effort was made.

second formal night I did not notice the same level of dressing but most still in appropriate attire especially in the MDR. Out and about not so much.

Thanks for posting the wine list earlier.  I'm actually quite excited by the number of wines that fall into the Premium Drink Package limit of $12/glass.  The last drink pkg. we had was on NCL, and there could not have been more than a half dozen reds that were included, and not a single one was drinkable (and I routinely buy wine at home under $10/bottle, so I'm certainly no wine snob).

Question for those who took the Princess transfer from the airport.  We are staying at the Doubletree the night before and will go back to the airport to catch a shuttle.  Did they look at your reserved boarding time and say something like "you're boarding group A, you need to get on this shuttle" or "You're boarding group B, you need to be on this particular shuttle"?  Or did they just load all time groups  together?

Of course, customer feedback can sometimes change minds.

That apparently worked with the 50% P/E internet discount which was originally planned to be as non-refundable OBC.

As I recall your source said it’ll now be refundable OBC & also looking forward to when we can use the app to purchase P/E discounted internet onboard like previously.

To me it seems like many of the wine prices are more in tune with more expensive cruise lines but what do I know? I'm not a connoisseur of wine by any means.

I am disappointed that there are not many wines by the glass (DH does not drink wine). However, in reference to the prices, they are MUCH better than Celebrity. We had a beverage package on the Celebrity Reflection and the snooty and snotty bartender told me that there were ONLY 2 white wines that were eligible for our package. We never met a friendly bartender on that ship. P.S. IMHO, The food and service is also light years better on Princess.

** They still have the Spellbound Petite Sirah

** Maybe Vines or the other bars will have more selections available by the glass?

Am I reading you correctly nini,  Spellbound is still available on board?

Cheers

I have the Princess Plus package, however I do not drink alcohol.  Has anyone ordered mocktails? Do they have a good selection? Especially, lower calorie ones. :classic_biggrin:

You will have me beat by two!  I love the Liddy talks.  I mostly love Puppies in the Piazza.  I guess they aren't doing that this time?  Were there any dog sled excursions offered?

Pre-cruise:

o Accept the passage contract

o Enter in passport information

o Enter credit card information

o Enter emergency contact information

o Enter in required medical information

o Select or learn about your arrival time to check in for cruise

Some of these items really should not wait until check-in time at the terminal to input to Princess. Wrong time to find out the info you bring to the terminal does not meet all they need and thus be denied boarding with no refund.

Before the medallion class app all your info from Princess.com personalizer flowed over to the ocean ready app.  Seem this is not the case for the medallion class app.  It should be. That way people who don't have smart phone, or don't want to hassle of messing with it; still have all their info in their cruise personalizer.

Here you go. The package and room service question should be put to rest with this video of Oleh. I have enjoyed quite a few room service deliveries using my beverage package. Room service times are getting better everyday in my experiences. They added more staff and did some improvements to the technology on board.
@Capella Blackyes anywhere really. Be a bit careful of the delivery location. There’s a scroll down menu to pick from if it’s off a bit. I’ve included screen shots. Those were my options the other day standing mid ships deck 17 over the skywalk

near MUTS.  Also if you are on your balcony near your neighbors’ you might inadvertently (or intentionally lol) have it delivered to them.

Last night’s captain circle event was really special. They had one at 5 snd 7 (at least). Although I’ve qualified for some time to attend this was the first one I actually went to. Very glad I did.

Jan  addressed the difficulties the team faced bringing the ship back into service. she said they were working as fast as possible to improve all the new features being implemented.  Captain Dino describes the passengers as the blood in the veins of the ship

@Chai8i actually met Chris from corporate (how he introduced himself) up decks while we were in front of the glacier yesterday. He is the one who personally put together the entire north to Alaska program. No puppies in the piazza we had The Life of a Musher with a pup brought on board.
we picked up our king crab in Juneau snd it was fabulous.

This is our 11th cruise with Princess on this itinerary and the presenters have been on every cruise thus far.  Hope to see them on the Aug 29 cruise!

I don't know about mocktails, but the banoffee blast is wonderful. That's a slushy, premium coffee drink.
