@Quartzsite Cruiser Lenda, Do you mean Arizona winter?

Yes, although winter in Arizona can be a winner.  😄

DH made the changes to our avatar info last week and showed it to me before he saved it.  We both remember it said winter.  Our story, and we're sticking with it, is that auto-correct or the CC gremlin is the culprit.  🤣

Thanks for catching the error, as I never bothered to check it after the change.

DH took me out to dinner to help ease the disappointment. I had chocolate lava cake and Prosecco. As dinner. Because I could. And really, a full meal of chocolate, sugar, and wine helped a surprising amount.

I like your idea of comfort food.

You and I could have been separated at birth . . .

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

Today was my last day of work before I go on vacation. I still have lots to do to get ready to fly on Wed: Laundry, doctor and manicure appts, packing, and babysitting. I’ll get my covid test at the airport before getting on the plane.

Spending a few nights in Seattle before I board the NA on Sept 4. Can’t wait to be on a cruise ship again!

Prayers for those killed and injured in Kabul 😢 and prayers for our troops everywhere. 🙏🙏
Prayers for those on the care list 🙏and cheers to all who are celebrating! 🎉

Good afternoon.

Kind of cloudy here but will be good for walking which I am going to do soon.

Thank you for the lists.  I like the days...not so sure of the meal suggestion!  We are having chicken, corn on the cob and macaroni salad for dinner.  A summer meal!!

As always, enjoying the pictures and posts.

Prayers to all on the care list, and many cheers to those celebrating.

So glad it is Friday.   Happy weekend to you all.

Stay safe and wear those masks!!

I remember those days pre-retirement, when it was your last day before vacation . . . it either dragged by endlessly, or you were so busy tying up loose ends that the day was gone before you know it.  Have a wonderful vacation, and a great cruise!

Looks like it has been another busy day on the Daily.  After I finished the yard, cleaned up and did the inside chores, it was early afternoon.  I had just finished reading all the daily when DH wanted to go for a short ride just to get out of the house.  Because of the Delta variant, we are pretty much hermits, so a ride is alwyas welcome.

An interesting collection of days.  Forgiving your foe is an admirable goal that is not always easy to achiev.  But like the Oscar Wilde meme @kazu , Jaciqui, posted, knowing forgiveness annoys them helps.  Sometimes it is better to forgive, but not necessarily forget.  I really like just because, which describes our ride this afternoon.  So Tarzan has his own day.  BTW we are realizing just how bad the acting was in some old movies and tv shows just like @ger_77 Gerry.

Our thoughts are with all the soldiers in Afghanistan, the families of those killed and injured, and the Afghanies who were killed and injured.

I always liked George Burns, and think the quote is great.

We'll pass on the meal and the drink.  The wine sounds nice, but pricey.

@dfish  Debbie, I think you made a good decision to avoid the pool before the cruise.  I like the suggestion to grill a t-bone, but would substitue a ribeye.  Maybe tomorrow or Sunday.

@1ANGELCAT Thinking about the young member of the beach partrol who was laid to rest today and his family.  It is nice that he is being so honored.

@TiogaCruiser  Have a safe, fun and hopefully dry trip.

@Sharon in AZ  Glad you made it safely to Seattle.  Have a great cruise.

@JAM37  Sorry to learn that your DH has the Delta variant, but glad today he is feeling better.  Hope he has a swift and complete recovery.

@smitty34877  Terry, I hope Tana gets a good report from the pulmonary specialist today.  Wish both of them well as they run the gauntlet of protesters, who seem to want to put more people at risk.  You just can't fix stupid.

This is getting long.  I will quit for now and go through more of the posts to refresh my memory on what I want to comment about.

A few more thoughts from today's posts.  I have enjoyed seeing all the prictures of Horta.  I'm not sure why, but I didn't take too many when we were there in 2002.

@Cruising-along and @ger_77  Great to hear you got rain, and hope you and all the western US and Canada get a lot more to help put an end to all the fires.

@Horizon chaser 1957  Sorry all your well laid plants got messed up, but glad you will still be able to die the Grand voyages.  I agree with you about the Crow's Nest on the ships.  The Westerdam was the same way.  But I really like how your console yourself.

@bennybear  Brenda, really like your pictures today.  Would love to be able to travel in Canada and to Alaska again.

@grapau27  Graham, glad you and Pauline made it home safely after your lovely anniversary cruise.  Just looking all the great food you had, I think I might have gained a few pounds, but not a stone.🤣

The Delta variant is spreading rapidly through Texas, and not having a mask or vaccine mandate is not helping.  The school district where DH's DB lives has a mask mandate, but if the parents don't want their kids to wear a mask, they can just tell the school they opt out.  😱

DH's niece and her husband own a restaurant and are being affected by the lack of a mask mandate.  So many customers are coming in without masks, it is making their employees uncomfortable, and some are even quitting.  They may have to cut back the days and hours they are open because of thoughtless people.

It will take all of us to help get this pandemic under control.  So please, wear your masks, 😷, sanitize, social distance, etc.  Then someday, we can meet on a BHB.

Captain D. D. saw us standing up there and asked us to meet him outside the Crow's Nest.  We did and he asked if we would like to have dinner in Canaletto the following night.  He also said we could bring our tablemates George and Sandy.  Of course we accepted!  He set the time at 7:00 pm the following night.  Later while we were dining he walked into the dining room and came over to our table to tell us he forgot about a meeting he had scheduled and could we make it at 7:30 pm instead?  We all said no problem, Captain!  You should have seen waiter Riris face when the Captain walked away!  He came over with eyes wide and said "What was that about??"  Oh, just a little change in dinner plans.  By the way we won't be here for dinner tomorrow night, Riris!😅

One more thing, we were celebrating Kings Day that day and here is the cake they prepared as well as our monkeys with the orange wigs.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJHhFyjLxHbOI_Jin4RKn_A?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1526137436

Here's a photo of us at dinner in Canaletto the following night.  The Executive Chef of the fleet was on board and brought us out a huge fish he had prepared for our dinner.  I only had a few bites of it since I'm not a huge fish lover.  But it was good and I enjoyed my separate entree.  George brought a special bottle of wine he had purchased on our cruise in Civitavecchia and the Captain was very surprised and honored that he had done that.  He said usually I provide all the wine, but he enjoyed it very much and asked where the shop was in Civitavecchia that George had bought it.  We were there for hours enjoying the conversation and food, and finally Captain said I have to go back to work now.  We bid him good night, then all four of us sat and chatted a while about it having been one of the best dinners we had ever experienced on a cruise.  The company was outstanding!00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJHtRTdJ2k-W5gkdLqTNhUd?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1526159922

Good morning. Thank you for the Daily.

I am a true believer that to not forgive only hurts yourself. As others have mentioned, it isn't always easy, forgiving doesn't mean we have to forget and it is wise to remove toxic people from our lives no matter who it is. Two years ago my DH and I had a conversation and decided that we are no longer going to allow anyone to steal our joy. Unfortunately, that has meant cutting ties with some friends and family who were draining us emotionally.

I love almost all types of seafood, but not in soup or stew so I will pass on today's meal.

@StLouisCruisers beautiful pictures. Thank you for sharing.

I have never been to today's destination, but hope to some day.

DH has been suffering from Covid, Delta variant, for almost three weeks, so I will continue taking extra care of him today. He said he actually feels better this morning whereas the last two days he was saying he felt worse than ever. So, I am very grateful to hear him say he feels better and just hope it continues.

Praying for all on the care list. Thinking especially of the families of those who lost loved ones in Kabul.

Cheers for the celebrations.

Blessings to all.

I'm very sorry to hear your husband has covid19 but pleased you said he is feeling better today.

I had covid19 last November and was in bed for almost 4 weeks and felt dreadful so I can sympathise with what your husband is experiencing.

The atrocities in Kabul were heartbreaking and our prayers go out to all the families and friends of those who died or are badly injured.

Graham.

Well, what can I say but your invitation was so tempting I went ahead and booked the b2b. Sharon you will just have to put up with me as I booked the Koningsdam for Oct. 10 through the 24th.
