Well, what can I say but your invitation was so tempting I went ahead and booked the b2b. Sharon you will just have to put up with me as I booked the Koningsdam for Oct. 10 through the 24th.

Good for you!

I know, and didn’t mean to tease you. Although, when I eventually DO go, I wouldn’t mind being on a ship.

No problem. I deserved it.  You're right, being on a ship doing something you love isn't a bad way to go --- but not for a long time.

A few more thoughts from today's posts.  I have enjoyed seeing all the prictures of Horta.  I'm not sure why, but I didn't take too many when we were there in 2002.

@Cruising-along and @ger_77  Great to hear you got rain, and hope you and all the western US and Canada get a lot more to help put an end to all the fires.

@Horizon chaser 1957  Sorry all your well laid plants got messed up, but glad you will still be able to die the Grand voyages.  I agree with you about the Crow's Nest on the ships.  The Westerdam was the same way.  But I really like how your console yourself.

@bennybear  Brenda, really like your pictures today.  Would love to be able to travel in Canada and to Alaska again.

@grapau27  Graham, glad you and Pauline made it home safely after your lovely anniversary cruise.  Just looking all the great food you had, I think I might have gained a few pounds, but not a stone.🤣

The Delta variant is spreading rapidly through Texas, and not having a mask or vaccine mandate is not helping.  The school district where DH's DB lives has a mask mandate, but if the parents don't want their kids to wear a mask, they can just tell the school they opt out.  😱

DH's niece and her husband own a restaurant and are being affected by the lack of a mask mandate.  So many customers are coming in without masks, it is making their employees uncomfortable, and some are even quitting.  They may have to cut back the days and hours they are open because of thoughtless people.

It will take all of us to help get this pandemic under control.  So please, wear your masks, 😷, sanitize, social distance, etc.  Then someday, we can meet on a BHB.

Lenda

Thanks for the kind comments,  thought it would be nice to show our local area,  would love to see where other posters live!

I couldn’t like your post because of the sheer disregard of so many,  so sorry for your family with a restaurant trying to navigate these waters!

Thank you Graham!  It's a lovely port and I hope you get there someday.

Thank you Sandi.

We were due to call there on our Caribbean and transatlantic cruise on P&O Azura in March 2020 which was cancelled 5 days before we were due to fly to Barbados due to the covid19 pandemic.

We are now in Seattle and checked into our hotel. Now at lunch, I have a white wine and Craig his usual Negroni.

Cinque Terra restaurant is very good ( a new find) Elliot’s Seafood is a standard. Enjoy and best wishes for a great cruise.

You must have been crushed to be so close to going and then it being cancelled!  You'll just have to plan another attempt.😉

I do not know if you sail Fred Olsen but a 15 night cruise on MS Borealis (Formerly MS Rotterdam) out of Liverpool looks nice.

I haven't checked in for awhile, so here is an update.  My tenants in our rental house moved out a week ago today.  They are newly married and have never moved before so I think it was kind of overwhelming for them.  They both drive pickups and have two trailers to carry their stuff.  The stuff includes two dogs and eight laying chickens going from Washington State to Groton, Connecticut.  They said they had hired a house cleaner to show up the next day and a person to disassemble the chicken coop.  That didn't happen, so I have been there every day taken down the chicken coop and trying to save the lumber.  Just finished that job today.  Yesterday the person came to pump out the septic tank.  Tomorrow I will bring my pressure washer to do the driveway, the sides of the log house, and part of the roof where some moss is starting to grow.  Now I need to hire some landscapers to cut back the brush and blackberry bushes that have sprung up in the past year.  The joys of being a landlord!

When I was at my audiologist a few weeks ago to talk about new hearing aids, they had a display of a thing called CaptionCall.  It is for those who have trouble hearing what callers are saying on a telephone.  It is free for deaf people and the audiologist signed a form for me to order it.  It arrived this week and I have only used it twice.  Might be useful as I learn how it works.

Got an email from my TA pushing shore excursions for our cruise starting 14 February.  I think I will ignore it as I think the odds are less than 50% that we will be cruising in Japan at that time.

Had a tough time logging in today. Thank you all for continued care for soldiers helping the evacuation in Afghanistan. @rafinmd In the family text thread (brother, sisters and me), my sister mentioned that as of yesterday, her son is fine. Perhaps that was prior to the bombings. No news since, I am hopeful that no news is good news.🙏

Thank you for today's daily and care reports.

Sorry I'm late just had a 7 hour drive home from Southampton in heavy bank holiday traffic.

We had breakfast at a Southampton restaurant before we left.

Our church services tell us to forgive our foes.

Interesting quote.

Not sure about the meal or drink of the day.

Just because should be something positive.

Looking forward to photos of today's destination.

Take care and stay safe everyone.

Graham.

Yay!  So happy you did. @AncientWanderer will be there also, maybe we can all meet for a glass of wine and connect. The roll call hasn’t been too active.

We ate lunch at the Pink Door and are now at Purple Cafe for dinner. I’ll tell DH about those restaurants and maybe we can visit one post cruise.

Thanks for all the daily information.  Appreciate seeing the photos of Horta as we have not visited.

Forgiving can be somewhat easier than forgetting.

@Sharon in AZglad you are safely in Seattle, have a fabulous cruise.

@smitty34877 what news of  Tana's visit to the pulmonary specialist?

@JAM37 sorry that your DH has the Delta covid, hope he improves each day.

@Horizon chaser 1957 such bad news for your cruise plans.  Your dinner sounded like a good plan.

Today started with fog, then occasional rain , now more fog, temperature 11 C.  Took an umbrella when I went for a walk, but did not need to use it.

Today the Community cases of Delta have risen again, by 82, all in Auckland, total now 429.......  25 in Hospital, 2 of these in ICU.

Stay safe, take care everyone.

Thanks Roy.

We have sailed Royal Caribbean,Princess and NCL but never Fred Olsen.

Fred Olsen now have 2 HAL ships and home base some ships  in Newcastle about 15 miles from our home so will have to check them out.

We were.

We were to have had a week in the Caribbean sailing from Barbados and a transatlantic cruise back to Southampton.

We finally got our money back but really wanted the cruise.

It is now on our list again.

Graham.
