@Grap5remmember that English breakfast at Lyons Corner House in London many times. Wonder if they are still there.

Is this the one you are referring to?

Lyons flagships shops were the Corner Houses situated on or near the corners of Coventry Street, the Strand and Tottenham Court Road in London. ... They were started in 1894 and remained until 1977. They were gigantic places with food being served on four or five floors.

Good Morning, Everyone!  I’m back home from a Uniworld cruise around the Venetian Lagoon with a pre-cruise two night stay in the Prosecco Region of Italy.  The trip was a good one.  Even though rain was predicted for every day, we had none.  The skies were pretty much cloud free for the entire time.

Travel was interesting.  You needed to have your original vaccination record and a picture ID with you constantly.  The documents were checked everywhere.  Our group was the first group that several of our guides had had since pre-pandemic days.  One apologized for her broken English since she hadn’t used it in so long.  (We assured her that she was doing a beautiful job.)

I’ve missed all of you!

Welcome home 🙂

Sounds like a great trip!

Thank you for today’s Daily,Rich! A wonderful selection of days.

Thank you for keeping our lists, Roy! Morning Dailyite Family & Bosch Brigade! So glad you slept well Debbie! @dfish I am crossing my fingers that it is thanks to the procedure. @Seasick Sailor Great to see you, Joy. Love the picture of the Allen and his colleagues!

Heading to the store to check out dishwasher models today. I will probably take the model that arrives soonest. Hopefully that is not the most expensive one with features I won’t use.  😎

It is another glorious morning here! I am now officially spoiled by the absence of humidity. I am going to hate to see it come back. I have been exercising in my pool the last couple of days, and I think I over did it a bit. But it feels great to be back in the pool - even if that first step is a killer coming out. I had leftovers last night, so tonight I will have my falafel salad. A busy afternoon for the roof site inspection, color choice and scheduling, inspecting my pool solar heating system and scheduling their removal/replacement to coincide with the roof job and then finally one of the companies who is giving me an estimate for “leaf proofing” my gutter system.  I need a nap already!

Prayers for all who need our support! Cheers to all who are celebrating! Stay well everyone!

L'Ecole No 41 Ferguson Vineyard - Washington

Grab a vintage, any vintage of this iconic red blend. It is a bit pricey for me, but the excellent to superb ratings are very tempting. I used the 2018 info, thinking it might be easier to find, but there are online distributors still offering the 2016. prices for the 2018 start around $65 and $54 for the 2016. Most reviewers suggest that purchasers hold it for a few years before opening. Very tempting.

Winemaker Notes

Since its inaugural vintage in 2011, Ferguson has quickly become L’Ecole No 41’s pre-eminent Bordeaux blend, furthering our reputation for excellent single-vineyard wines from the Walla Walla Valley. Ferguson reflects the unique terroir expression of its microclimate and geological site. This wine shares its name with our Ferguson Estate Vineyard.

With a flavor profile distinctly influenced by its volcanic basalt soil, Ferguson is a richly structured wine offering complex aromas of mineral-laced blackberries, expressive violet, black plums, and sandalwood. Layers of fruit and espresso are framed by lifted tannins, integrated with graphite and crushed rocks on the palate. Precise and structured, Ferguson’s pronounced natural acidity carries through to a satiny yet firm finish.

JS95 James Suckling: Notes of blackberries, blueberries and spices on the nose. It’s full-bodied with chewy tannins. Structured, with a lot of wood and a juicy character on the center-palate. Mineral and racy. Flavorful finish. A blend of 55% cabernet sauvignon, 24% merlot, 11% cabernet franc, 5% malbec and 5% petit verdot. Drink in 2024.

WE94 Wine Enthusiast: Cabernet Sauvignon comprises 55% of this wine, with the balance Merlot (24%), Cabernet Franc (11%), and then equal parts Malbec and Petit Verdot. The fruit flavors show sophistication. It's packed tightly with youthful tannins, acidity and notes of cherry, black tea, raspberry and spice. It will have a very long life ahead of it.

JD94 Jeb Dunnuck: The 2018 Ferguson Estate Ferguson Vineyard comes from an estate vineyard in Walla Walla. Lots of earthy currants and mulberry fruits, new leather, tobacco, and cedary herb notes define the nose, and it’s medium to full-bodied, with a backward, unevolved profile, ripe tannins, and outstanding length on the finish. It opens up gradually with time in the glass and has a more savory, herbal, floral, complex, incredibly compelling character. It needs to be forgotten for 3-4 years and it should keep for 15-20 years nicely. Rating: 94(+)

RP93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: The 2018 Ferguson Vineyard starts with a gorgeous nose of elegant oak, fresh and ripe fruit tones and resinous purple flowers. Full-bodied, the blend displays immaculate balance, possessing both power and precision as flavors of spiced cherry compote, black plum skin and redcurrant sway with seductive tones of vanilla, cinnamon and nuances of cardamom madeleines. The wonderfully structured mid-palate displays firm tannins that will loosen in time, before concluding with a long-lingering and ever-evolving finish. The wine rested 22 months in French oak, 50% new. It's superb, and the best thing to do is to put it in the cellar and forget about it for a few years until it's found its stride. Bravo, I think I might finish the glass. Rating: 93+

Good morning friends!  We're spoiled rotten now with another beautiful morning.  A day off from the gym but we took a 2.75 mile walk through the neighborhoods around us.  DH is off to get his routine blood work done and I am here reading the Daily.  A nice batch of special days, but I have to confess I never drink coffee so I am the odd one here.  Never liked the taste.  I seem to recall as a small child trying to taste someone's leftover coffee in their cup on the table and perhaps that killed all desire to ever try it again.  The menu suggestion of toasted ravioli is as @dfishand @St. Louis Salsaid, an appetizer served with a marinara type sauce usually.  Once we went to dinner with DH's parents for their anniversary to a restaurant on The Hill and ordered them as appetizers.  They were quite good.  They're best if they're not overcooked.  Debbie, I'm glad to hear your back didn't wake you up last night.  I hope the procedure helped and that the second procedure will finish the job for you.

Thanks to Rich and Roy for setting us up with the Daily and the Care and Celebration lists.  Our prayers and praise for all.  As for the port of Victoria in the Seychelles, I am chasing after that bucket list port, but the cruise line keeps moving the goal posts.  Now rescheduled for fall of 2022.

@Seasick Sailornice to see you here today and especially with photos of Allen and your group of friends.  Everyone looks happy (and healthy).  @JAM37even with all the morning traffic heading into Atlanta you are probably down here south of Atlanta by now passing me by.  Once you get past the South Atlanta suburbs, the ride is a lot easier to Florida.  Be safe and enjoy your visit.

To everyone, please enjoy your day!

Good morning  .Like @mamaofami,I was fortunate to be close to Broadway and saw many musicals, starting  from age 10. I remember  a "Sound of Music" show especially and still know all the words to the songs.

I now have just one cup of coffee but truly savor it .

I look forward to pictures from today's  port.

@dfish,I am so glad you  slept well last night and hope the ablation  procedure will provide  pain relief.

My DS told me that the twins are continuing  to improve but still spike fevers for part of the day.Our other patient,Tana has been doing well in PT and hopes to be discharged  soon.We went for a "practice " drive in her car.She did well and is willing  to take on our traffic  and drive herself  on Friday.

Good Morning Everyone from a cloudy but warm day at the beach.

I have my coffee on the patio every morning and today there was actually a little chill in the air!  Hot coffee tasted great!   Although now it is 82.

When we lived in Boston, we would take the train to New York to see the shows. Always great. Now it is community theatre and they are wonderful.

@cat shepard Best of luck dishwasher shopping. Not easy!

More and more of our friends are booking cruises. We are not booked until the fall of 2022. Many cancelled previously like everyone else. I am tempted but we will see.

     Off to water aerobics.

Stay safe and enjoy today

Good morning, thanks for the Daily!  Confucius was a very wise man, indeed.  While we've seen a few musicals, none have been on Broadway . . . must change that some day.  I like coffee, but don't drink a lot of it the past few years; I used to make a pot at work and drink it all  - now I have a cup or two per week.  I do like iced coffee with a little bit of International Delight creamer in it, though, on hot days.  Having said that, I drink decaf . . . many of you are going to shudder at the thought, but I drink it for the taste, not the buzz.

Coffee.jpg.04b9046d1f56353fe41aaf50abdf3da3.jpg

Speaking of hot days - yesterday we broke a record for a high temperature of 33.3C; the previous record was 30.2C in 1898.  It was absolutely beautiful, but we noticed because the sun is at a different angle, 30C doesn't feel nearly as hot as it does in the middle of summer.  We kept the house closed most of the day, so didn't need to turn on the A/C, and opened the windows in the cool of the evening to get the fresh air.

While not a fan of ravioli, I think it might make a nice appetizer, especially done in the air fryer.  I might actually try it and see if DH takes a liking to it.  Thank you @dfish for the chilled soup recipe . . . I loved having them on a BHB.  I might substitute Greek yogurt for the sour cream and lighten it with half & half instead of heavy cream.  It'll be like having a smoothie in a bowl.  Yum!   For us though, tonight will be leftover salmon from the other night set atop a crisp green salad and crusty buns.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do.  Clinking the glasses together to cheer on all on the celebration list.  Stay well, wash your hands, be safe, wear your masks, and hydrate!

Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂

I am very envious of your Full English! But where is the black pudding?? I probably won't get a chance for one until our November cruise on the NA.

I will need to check the MDR breakfast menu to see if they are still available. You used to be able to create one in the Lido...

Good morning from central Texas.  We got about 1/10 inch of rain last night, and we are supposed to get a lot of rain starting late tomorrow afternoon and lasting until sometime Saturday.

Confucius was an interesting philosopher.  I am another who is not a coffee drinker.  I tried it in college, but even with more cream and sugar than coffee, I never learned to like it.  I do like the smell of fresh ground coffee beams and fresh brewed coffee.

My father instilled a love of musicals in me, and we saw several musicals in Dallas at the State Fair Summer Musical Series.  I was lucky enough to see several on a week long trip to NYC my freshman year in college.  A professor took a group of students there to visit various businesses associated with journalism, public relations and advertising.  Through business connections, my father was able to get tickets to Broadway shows for anyone who wanted them.  We went to a different theater almost every night, besides being fed wonderful meals by the various places we visited.

I like todays quote.from MLK, and we should remember it and act on it.

It seems like we've tried the fried ravioli, maybe as an appetizer on a BHB, and we liked it.  I'll have to check our the air fryer recipe.  I like a good margarita, but please leave the salt off the rim.  The wine sounds nice, but is a bit pricey.

@dfish  Debbie, good news that your back did not wake you up last night.

@cat shepard  Ann, good luck with the applicance shopping.  Hope the one you want is the one that is available.  Good luck with the roof and solar heater meetings today.

@Seasick Sailor  Joy, thanks for the pictures.  It looks like you had a great time.

@lcand1923  Welcome home.  Glad the cruise was good.

@smitty34877  Good to know the DGC are improving, but sorry they are still spiking fevers.  So good that the PT is helping Tana, and that she feels like driving herself to the next session.

We were in Victoria Mahe, Seychelles, on the Ides of March in 2000.  I have a few pictures that DH took with his new digital camera, but since he was driving the rental car, the pictures are from a couple of stops along the road.  I'll check to see if any of my old fashioned pictures are worth scanning.  In the meantime, here are some of DH's pictures.

We walked into town before deciding to rent a car.

A nice looking beach.  We were looking for a place to go snorkeling, but did not find one where we could park the car for a while and go in the water.  There is a nearby island with good snorkeling, that several people we knew took the ferry to and spent the day at the beach.

We stopped at a hotel for something to drink and to look around.  There was an enclosure where we found these guys.  The loved to have the underside of their necks rubbed and scratched.

Good afternoon/evening!

It has been another cool & damp day here 14°C/57°F.  DW has just finished her last physio session before we head to Venezia to join Eurodam.  Let the packing commence.  This is the first time we have requested assistance at the airports to help get DW to the gate etc.  She is concerned that the chair pusher will not stop for her to shop in the 'Duty Free'. 🙄 I told her not to worry as the shops were shut 😉.

@rafinmd thanks for putting us on the care list, but it is our DGD who broke her collarbone (not me!).  She is meeting with a specialist today to see if she needs surgery.

Positive thoughts for all on the care list. 🙏

and 👏 to those on the celebration list.

I had heard of black pudding before we boarded P&O's Oriana in 2000 for their world cruise, but DH had not.  One morning at breakfast, he decided to try it, and without going into details about the ingredients, I kept telling him he did not want to try it.  After tasting the black pudding, which he did not especially care for, he wondered why I knew not to try it.  That is when I told him what was in it.  😉

That is such a fun area of the Veneto,  we stayed there for a few days and visited the beautiful Palladian villas as well,  stunning frescoes and a very Chi Chi town,  where the jeweller wouldn’t admit me,  DH breathed a sigh of relief!   And DS wanted a custom made 👔.  We also did a tour of the fishing huts on the lagoon,  so much to see in this area and then there’s beautiful Trieste and it’s castle and coastline.

Good morning everyone and Happy Wednesday!  Thank you for the Daily Rich and thank you for your lists Roy. Prayers to those on the Care list.

I love Broadway musicals but have never seen on actually on Broadway in NYC.  I have one cup of iced coffee every morning but drink hot on a BHB. I always ask for 3/4 of a cup and they fill it half way, but I don’t mind because they come around soon enough to refill it.

I’ll pass on the drink. I stopped drinking Margarita’s after having one too many on an excursion on our Panama Canal cruise.  I would love to have Toasted Ravioli but I don’t want to make it. Thank you for the recipes Debbie @dfish and so good to hear your back and sleep are better.

Joy @Seasick Sailor so good to hear the reunion was great fun. I loved the pictures. What restaurant was that?  We are going to Houston soon (it’s my Ladies Group reunion), but I don’t think Georgetown is very close.  We have some fun things planned including a chef’s table dinner at Brennan’s.

Tomorrow DM and I are having pedicures and lunch so I’ll be reading the Daily later than usual.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning and thanks all!
I love Broadway,  we’ve been fortunate to see Helen Mirren and Julia Robert’s live!  One of my friend’s brother was a backer of a number of plays so she got to attend a lot of opening nights.

@dfish loved the Apple TV version of Come From Away, It’s not the same as the live version we saw in London,. But it’s pretty darn good!
@Quartzsite Cruiser thanks Lenda for the stunning photos!  It’s a place I’d love to visit!

@StLouisCruisers I too have never liked coffee,  I’m a confirmed tea granny unless it’s an after dinner Monte Christo😂
