lindaler Posted November 5, 2021 #55 Share Posted November 5, 2021 Thanks Rich and all for posting today. What a difference a day makes. I feel so much better. Better to get it over with but two shots at once really wiped me out yesterday. I wish I had a guy to cook for me but alas no. Son is a wonderful cook but is too far away. He has been know to make a wonderful spread of sushi for me as that is one of my favorite foods.

sailingdutchy Posted November 5, 2021 #58 Share Posted November 5, 2021 (edited) And a good day to all participants in the Daily and in particular Rich , Roy , Debbie and Jacqui . We are just getting back to our regular life at home after a great Eurodam cruise , too bad we were not allowed to go all the way to Florida yet but we had a very nice 24 days with our good friends Ann and Pat plus we met some new friends . We have been a number of times to Cadiz and when we were on the Prinsendam in 2019 it was a very special day Jacqui @kazu had set up a fantastic Flamenco show in the afternoon . After the show was over we heard the trumpets , flutes and drums of the procession of Semana Santa for Palm Sunday in the distance and went over there. Glad to show you some pictures of that day without too many comments : If you ever have a chance to get to La Cava go and see the show . We were extremely lucky that Jacqui and Jose have an in there with the owners to be able to go there . I have seen a number of Flamenco shows this was one of the best ! This must have been a sign we were not suppose to sit there ......... Sorry we took your table Jacqui , I was not aware of that !!!! And who do we see here …..? The scene of the “ Last Supper “ We will never forget the sights and sounds we experienced on April 14th 2019 ! Tony 😁😁 Edited November 5, 2021 by sailingdutchy 28
Woofwoo1 Posted November 5, 2021 #59 Share Posted November 5, 2021 Hello all, One of my favourite days ,Guy Fawkes day or bonfire night. Guy Fawkes born 1570 and if you ever get the chance to visit York the room in which he was born is now in a hotel. After being found guilty of trying to blow up parliament and on his way to being hung drawn and quartered, one of the more gruesome capitol punishments he fell of a platform and broke neck and died. As children we were taught the rhyme, Remember remember the 5th of November, gunpowder treason and plot. Its now 6pm in liverpool England pitch black apart from the flahes of rockets and fireworks,it also sounds like the opening salvos on D day. Loveit this will go on for hours. JazzyV Posted November 5, 2021 #60 Share Posted November 5, 2021 (edited) Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily. Interesting days. I know it's been on the news that bullets are in short supply due to issues getting the materials; both for police and hunters. Thanks for info on Guy Fawkes day. No man here to make me dinner. I like the quote by MLK. I could eat today's meal, but I somehow never cook shrimp at home. It's homemade pizza tonight. I like the drink and wine. I have been to Seville on a land trip, but not Cadiz. Thanks for all the pictures. Quite cold here today. It won't go out of the 40's, but then a bit of a warmup starting tomorrow. I got lab work done this morning. Now I'm working on setting up my new computer. I'll save lawn/yard work for the warmer days ahead. @irishjim Prayers for your DW and her upcoming surgery. @ger_77 Wonderful of you to knit all those toques for the students. @Sharon in AZ So nice to hear that your DM is doing so well. @lindaler It's great that you're feeling better. I need to schedule my Shingles vaccine and am hoping I don't have a significant reaction. Prayers for the care list and a toast to the celebration list. Stay safe everyone. We've been having over 500 cases daily in our county and the positivity rate has jumped up to 7.4%. Not good. grapau27 Posted November 5, 2021 #61 Share Posted November 5, 2021 As kids we all had bonfires in our back gardens and let off fireworks too on November 5th which Is bonfire night. There are lots of organised bonfire and fireworks displays all over England. Graham. 15
Horizon chaser 1957 Posted November 5, 2021 #62 Share Posted November 5, 2021 Good morning, all! Just popping in to say hello from Nuevo Vallarta! My DH often cooks dinner, or at least helps, but he’s on vacation now. Look who else is here! Hello, Westerdam! Long time, no see. A quick look at our hotel. @ger_77.we’re only here for three nights, then we go to our resort for two weeks. I love this view and I’m reluctant to leave. Happy Friday, and cheers to at least seeing a BHB, even if we aren’t on board.

USN59-79 Posted November 5, 2021 #67 Share Posted November 5, 2021 Unusual that we have blue skies (for awhile) this morning. We got our third dose or booster this morning; moderna at Costco. I got the full dose and DW got the half dose. Plan to stay home today in case there are side effects. Gunpowder day reminds me of my early teenage years. I used to make my own gunpowder with powdered charcoal, sulfur and potassium nitrate. Made pipe bombs used to blow up large ant hills on the farm. Used other chemicals to make fuel for model rockets. Surprisingly, I could buy the chemicals at a local drug store, no questions asked. Times have changed. I was interested in rockets and in my senior high school year another student and I built a liquid fuel rocket, fueled by red fuming nitric acid and kerosene as a project for physics class. When the teacher learned of our progress he told us to stop work, turn the project over to the class and we both got an A for our work. I now you are relieved. I had to have a diagnostic mamogram once, but was fortunate enough that the radiologist was in and read it while I waited. All was clear. So I understand the relief.
