Yeah it is...thank goodness.  Just using it as an example of the reasons using N-95 masks would be useless...or at a minimum, extremely costly if used correctly.  Even in the medical plaza my wife manages, they don't wear them...too costly for the minimal potential advantage.

That's what we're hoping for.

Especially in the lounge areas with entertainment.

Somehow I think areas such as Princess Live will still require them since people are sitting on top of one another & the place is usually filled.

So, does your CVS fit them for you?  Or are they some sort of generic N-95? Not sure what you mean by be prepared...I haven't worn a mask for more than a few minutes a day for the last 20 months...so be prepared for what??? to start wearing one?  Precisely why I haven't cruised yet...but will after 1 March when the mask mandate goes away on the ships.

If they get re-instated is exactly what I mean.  CVS was just giving them away at the register.  Couldn't tell you if they are generic or not.  The surgicals are ok for my use.

Hoping the March 1 date may trigger a change at least to 3 days.  Even that would be a big help travel-wise.

Right, as I think about it the 'Update' still refers to current conditions, not those that might exist after Mar 31. I reacted to 'Update' thinking it had changed

The ones I received from CVS were N95 by 3M.  They had them in paper bags of three.  I was given an original box of 15 for a family of 5.

Did they give you a choice of size of N95 mask.  Many people do not realize that N95 masks come in different sizes.

In addition many people do not realize that there is a correct way to put them on and take them off.

No, they handed me the box.  I was shocked.   I, personally, do not like 3M N95s.  The entire box went to my daughter.  I use KF 94s and are very happy with them.  They are the "real" ones from Korea (not fakes from China).

A few updates posted on Princess website dated 2/22.   Not the same as the 2/18 update but very similar to the protocols on my 1/31 Princess Cruise.

Updated February 22, 2022

  • Masks
    • Guests will be required to wear a face mask indoors at all times and outdoors when physical distancing cannot be maintained.

If someone wants to start another thread about the potential new test policy since this one is about the mask policies on Princess it would be great.

Okay, you got me!  LOL

How about changes to Princess Policy on covid testing days!

This particular thread has just veered off course and topic as it’s supposed to be about the new mask protocol.

Why not wait until the new testing is not potential?  Otherwise, just more speculation.

These are some of the masks that the Federal Government is distributing all around the nation to pharmacies and some medical clinics.

One size only (an adult size). Three per person.

Just check out the Grand Princess (my only search/she's orange).  If Princess is participating CDC program, then this article will be the defining element for masking.  Read between the lines.  Until Princess puts it in writing ON their website, we will continue to speculate and make inferences.  Nothing is conclusive unless I see it documented on their website.  I am aware that changes are happening.

As of February 9 (the latest update)

https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/cruise/cruise-ship-color-status.html#faq-1

Given the high rates of transmission during the COVID-19 pandemic, CDC currently recommends that everyone avoid travel on cruise ships, including river cruises, worldwide, regardless of their vaccination status. However, if you do plan to travel on a cruise ship, it is important to be aware of what these color designations mean. If a ship is designated “Yellow”, it means that the ship has reported that less than 0.3% of its passengers and/or crew members have COVID-19 and CDC is monitoring the situation.

If a ship is designated “Orange”, it means that the ship has reported that 0.3% or more of its passengers and/or crew members have COVID-19 — enough for CDC to need to investigate. Cruising will always pose some risk of COVID-19 transmission. Therefore, public health measures, including mask use, testing, and vaccinations, will continue to play a role in reducing the spread of COVID-19. CDC recommends that all travelers (passengers and crew) be vaccinated and stay up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines.

Hopefully the March 1 date will be a trigger date.

So is the report of no masks as of 3/1 no longer accurate?

Still scheduled to go into effect.

  • Effective with cruises departing Mar. 1, masks on board will be recommended but not required. There may, however, be certain venues and events where masks will be required.

So tell us, which events and venues will require masks. 😄

the ones that Princess deems necessary at the time they choose ... their ship ... their rules ... passengers agreed to them ( whether they know it or not in the fine print of the passage contract ) ... deal with it ... or simply don't go ...

Best guess would be theaters and casino.

I don't spend any time in casino, but 2 weeks ago,  casino was DEAD

IF ship wants a profit center, they will allow gamblers to gamble.

Oh, we're going all right no matter what their masking policies are and we did agree to their passenger contract.

The only thing is that their passenger contract doesn't really work when the lights go low. Who knows which passengers adhere to their policies in the show lounge?

I suspect the elevators might be another place where enforcement might have to be necessary.

Not sure if there are ANY profit centers on cruise ships at the moment.  We do our part to help, though.  😀

Not the venues so much but the elevators were definitely a problem area.  So we took the stairs a lot - felt downright healthy.

Thanks for the link. The mask rules clearly are back in place.
