I would think so. Our shelter goes through many towels for various reasons.

Susan

Thanks, Susan.  I looked at shelters near our small town.  Google said there were three here, but when I dug deeper the Humane Society website was not showing anything.  I never found the third one, and the second was was a cat rescue in a house on a back road near us.  After seeing the picture, I wouldn't take a dead cat there.  They may do good work, but the house and grounds did not look well kept.  I'll check for some in other towns including Waco.

Good morning!

DH and I have been to Honolulu twice - once on a cruise from Vancouver there on the Zaandam; the second time we flew (nonstop) from NY to Honolulu for a couple of days prior to our Pride of America cruise.  Most of my pictures are very similar to others already posted - Diamond Head, Waikiki Beach, Pearl Harbor, etc.  Our arrival on the Zaandam was beautiful:

IMG_1390.thumb.JPG.5a71a767e05bc5833c74def5da7153e2.JPG

We did have a great day on Waikiki before the POA cruise - sun, showers and a rainbow!

013.thumb.JPG.0d6ad0d7d5abc184768249fd4eaac0ef.JPG

Of course, we had to have dinner at Dukes - and DH had Hula Pie for dessert!

Not a lot planned for the 4th of July long weekend - we've been having some work done at the house (painting halls and bedroom, and a new screened porch on the front).  We'll probably watch the fireworks on TV, the Macys show is always wonderful to see.

Prayers for our Daily family and friends, cheers for those celebrating.  Enjoy, and stay safe!!

Laura

Great photos Laura.

It is nice to put a face to a name.

Graham.

Good days, good meal, good drink and very expensive wine. I have been to Honollu to many times to count. The first was a land tour of the 4 main Islands. We landed in Honolulu on May 1st1983 , a belated 25th Wedding Anniversary celebration, and we enjoyed it so much that two years later we bought my parents along on an exact repeat as our present to them for their 50th Anniversary. That photo you saw of King Kamahameha was covered in lei's that extended fom his head past the bottom of his feet on May 1st as May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii.
That you to all who posted photo's bring back such wonderful memories.

@marshhawkHas your DH consulted with a pain specialist? A nerve ablation which can be done with only mild sedation might be something that he could tolerate and still be helpful to him.

We are in Montreal, Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport ( much easier when it was plain old Dorval!).  Our bags are here, too.  Dd gave us AirTags and I have been able to track them when we have internet.  It is poor in the airport, and I haven’t been able to sync my Fitbit.  The joys of technology.

thinking of you all.  Hope this posts….  I haven’t been able to like.

Something else about Honolulu.  In the 1960s I was assigned to a Destroyer Tender, the USS Frontier and we often spent months at Ford Island responsible for repairing other Navy ships, mostly destroyers.  There is a lot of Navy history in that area and some of the divers in the crew would spend spare time diving for pre-WW2 coffee cups.  They were different as they had no handles.  Apparently a lot of them went over the side either accidentally or not, and since they are porcelain they are still in good shape.  That was before eBay, but I guess they would be worth something if sold online today.

Good Afternoon All,

We just got home, having circled the Hrand Canyon this past week. Before we left Cameron yesterday we had the best breakfast: avocado toast on dry bread (grilled fry bread) and a sopapilla. The avocado had great flavor (which has been missing from those available in our area for the past couple of years). We took a last look around the trading post and found a few items we bought, then headed to the south rim, where we spent the rest of the day. We drove from Williams, leaving before 6 this morning.

We had Vacatin Bible School at church all this week and my DW forgot that Siri is always listening to everything. She couldn't tell where the voice was coming from when she was explaining the prospect of salvation based on Jesus rising from the tomb. Each point that DW made was answered from the iphone in her back pocket with, "I'm not sure I understand."

Love it!

Have a great day everyone!

Could I please ask for some prayers? 🙏 My GF’s DH had some groin pain yesterday and he thought it was his hernia acting up. Well, he went to the doc (or urgent care) and he is now in the hospital. Kidney stones, gall stones, and pancreatitis. Treatment TBD.

Definitely you have prayers 🙏🏻.  I was glad to hear your update later today but the prayer will continue 🙏🏻

We've been away the past two days for the funeral of a friend of 60+ years, so I haven't caught up with your news, any news, or, in fact, anything! Lately, I feel like my existence has become the proverbial "...a day late" (but, thankfully, not "...the dollar short" part yet).

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend 😢 My deep condolences and prayers for you, your friend and family 🙏🏻

Such good news.  I know it’s a long road but at least it’s starting with the right steps 👍

What an exercise in frustration.   I have been on the phone talking to a computer from United Airlines for an hour.  They changed our flights home from Amsterdam, but didn't reissue the tickets.  They claim Flight Ease has to do it, Flight Ease says they should have when they changed the flights.  We were already paid and ticketed when United changed the flights.   Then I had a question about baggage.  We purchased Business Class tickets but they are only allowing us the Economy baggage allowance.  So, the guy who couldn't figure out our tickets pushed me over to the baggage department.  The baggage department says the information on the website is incorrect and I should get 2 free checked bags.  He sent me back to reservations who will probably send me back to baggage.  I might have better luck at the airport.  Or maybe not.  I may end up living in the Amsterdam airport because between Flight Ease and United they can't figure out who is supposed to issue tickets.

OMG Debbie.  I hope you can get it straightened out 🤞

Good evening, I hope everyone had a great day. It’s supposed to be stormy this evening but nothing yet. I am ready for a break in the heat, can’t stand the humidity.

I don’t know if anyone shops at Glacier silt soaps(glacier smoothie.com) in Juneau , but I had an email for a free shipping offer on any amount thru July 4th. Love their soap.
Blessings and prayers to all on our lists.❤️🙏

Busy day..... we are finishing up the main public areas of the shelter and now about to tackle the kennels. We will be able to house some dogs, but the fosters are about to be distributed and a number of dogs are leaving for other shelters. I am now hoping the rains will come this weekend, get it out of the system and then some dry weather so we can use the outdoor runs. It is quiet here.... people are really testy about anyone setting off fireworks and our city leaders are treating us to a drone show tonight. Don't think I will see it since I would have to drive into downtown and I don't like to drive at night anymore.

Update #2: GF’s DH is home! He has not passed the kidney stone but is on meds. He sees the urologist again in 3 days. Thanks again! Prayer works!

Kidney stones are the worst.  It can take up to a couple weeks to pass one.  I had one that took 10 days.

I bought some there years ago and still have part of one bar I'm using now.  Will have to get more next time we're in Juneau.

Good evening.

I had internet service this morning, but didn’t have time to post because I had to bring my car in for servicing.  When I got home my wonderful provider decided that we did not service for a good part of the day.

Then the postal service has also decided that we did not need our mail either yesterday or today.  Thank you Mr. De Joy — Oh I mean KillJoy!

Well, my car checked out so I am all set for another six months.

Thank you to Rich and Roy for the lists.

Roy, I hope you are rested from your ordeal yesterday and having a good time on your cruise.

I like the set of days.

I Forgot Day—That is my day every day.

World UFO Day—Well, can’t say I ever saw one

Special Recreation Day for the Disabled—i wholly endorse this.  Having been the caregiver to DBIL, I cannot tell you the joy on his face when there were special events that he was able to participate in.  Especially when we took him to Disney World.

I agree with the quote.

As for the destination.  I guess I am the odd one out here.  I have never been to Hawaii.  i really want to get there one day.  I dread the long flight from the east coast.  i am prone to blood clots and that is my first concern.  I’ll have to figure out a cruise that goes through the canal and then one that does round trip to Hawaii and then another back through the canal.  We’ll see.

Well, the weather improved today.  The predicted rain did not happen.  So we had beautiful sunshine.

Prayers to all who need them

@aliaschiefGlad your flights were on time.

@dobiemomPrayers for your GF’s DH.

@rafinmdEnjoy your cruise.

Cheers to all who are celebrating

Happy Holiday Weekend.

God Bless,

Terri

Good evening!  Thank you for the Fleet Report Rich.  Thank you to everyone posting on the Daily.

Thank you all for your well wishes for Craig's retirement.  We have the cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner, dish washing, putting away dishes pretty much worked out.  We usually eat a bigger lunch when he is off so this will be nice to have our main meal at lunchtime.  I honestly don't think he's going to realize he has free time for a few months because we have so much planned.

Roy @rafinmd -- thank you for posting the link to your cruise report!

Jane @lazey1 -- thanks for the info about the iron.  It's probably too strong for what I need but I'm going to ask about it at my next appointment.  BTW, we went to Hawaii the same month and year you did in May 1983.  It was an amazing trip.

Debbie @dfish-- From my experience this past cruise and issues with FE, your airline can't make any changes only FE can.  And I was never able to check in online either coming or going, never really figured out why but it had to be because of FE, so we just checked in at the airport each way and had no problems in that area.  And we were Business Class also and had no problems getting our free checked bags.  This was a different airline but I still think FE is your point of contact.  And I'm sure you have already done this but I made sure out flights were ticketed and checked them daily, sometime twice daily.  And when it came time for them to be ticketed I called FE, I was on hold for an extremely long time but didn't care, I read the Daily while on hold.  It's easy to see if your flights are ticketed or not on the airline website.

I hope everyone has a good night!

Terri, We now fly to West Coast spend a day then fly  rest of the way to Hawaii. Many options such as SF, Oakland, Seattle, Las Vegas and others. It breaks up the long flight and enables one to see and enjoy some great places along the way.

We had a veteran Flight Attendant today who was fantastic and has over 17 million miles flying! Amazing!

Yes we did....and it was a fun cruise....!!    🙂

@Cruzin Terri Terri...I also break up long flights as @aliaschief explained.  Only I'm on the west coast and going east.  I learned a valuable lesson after taking a direct red eye to London...and had major jet lag for days.  I now take a daylight flight to Boston...stay overnight...and another daylight flight to London with no jet lag and feeling great.....then...I do the same coming home...due to the time change difference....there is plenty of time to poke around Boston on the trip back....!!
