Uptick in Disturbances - What’s you Opinion?

I don't think there is an 'uptick' in disturbances but rather news of anything that happens on a ship nowadays travels faster and wider via the media than previously.  Seems wherever alcohol is served and there are groups of inebriated people, they think they are the only ones on the ship and could care less about their behavior.  Just a fact of life.  Most people are polite and are cruising for a good time.

What ships have you been on?? Most security I see on board are just a tick above “rent a cop” mall security.

I don't know for sure, but I doubt that it's that simple.  I would think that the cruise line would somehow have to notify a country if they were just dumping off some number of passengers that would not be re-boarding.

People are put off at the next port. No need to spend money getting them to an airport, they are the "guests" of the country where they were expelled.

I wanted to have a conversation with like minded people that love cruising as much as I do … I don’t want to argue with the Kens and Karen’s that feel like my opinion hurt their feelings … I don’t want to discuss the balance of other cruiser’s checking account, etc. There are literally 9123 other topics on this board you can crash if this makes you uncomfortable.

A handful of people out of hundreds of thousands on cruise ships get in a fight and now something needs to be done 🙄

When airlines have to divert and offload in a third country they police would meet the flight and they would at the very least be put in cells overnight and may be prosecuted

I think the general population has had enough of COVID restrictions - suddenly we're all free, unrestricted. Couple that with the fact that all of the drugs we take are passed through our water supply and cannot be filtered out.

I have seen remarkable evidence of anger issues in other scenarios. About six months ago as I was pulling in to a gas pump, this massive pickup truck pulled in front of me and he began screaming obscenities at me as I proceeded forward (I was there before he was).

Seems to me the last big "uptick" happening on board had it's next port of call NYC, where it originated.  Little good that did in discouraging the event.

I guess they would have to find a carrier willing to allow them to purchase tickets. Though if they don't have the right docs for that country  the original carrier could be forced to arrange transport

With I phones and wifi it would not be a problem although the carrier can bill for the flights arranged. Or simply throw them off the ship and leave them at the side of the pier and whatever happens happens.

In general, shorter, cheaper cruises get more of this although it can happen anywhere.  Just like airlines, there should be zero tolerance. There is no excuse for this kind of behavior anywhere.

 

As someone who works in a hospital this has gotten worse over the past few years and I don’t think it has anything to do with covid.  Some people feel they can act anyway they want to to, it’s their “right”.   Sadly, we have to have training on de escalation and have panic buttons at nurses stations so we can get help quickly.  I’m always respectful.  I’m also tired of being threatened, called names and screamed at just for trying to do my best for the patient and the patients around them.  
 

Escort them off the ship and ban them from cruising.  Zero tolerance.

For everyone suggesting that the offenders be put off the ship at the next port, is this even feasible?  Would the cruise line have to notify the host country of their intent to disembark these unruly passengers (some of whom might be in conflict with others also being disembarked)?  Does the host country have to accept these passengers?  Would they even want to?

 

I'm not questioning the effectiveness of doing this, but I wonder how realistic this solution really is.

Using the word “all” means everyone. We are all not on a budget, we all do not get a paycheck, and we live in Arizona and are closer to Australia than living in poverty. We have no intension  of taking a world cruise or owning our own boat.
