Recommended Posts

Whats your favorite feature(s) on a Carnival ship? Bonus points for items unique to a ship, or a class of ships.

Here are a few of mine:

*The 2 bathroom oceanview cabin on Horizon.  Not needed but why the hell not?

*open sunlight in lobbies on Elation/Paradise.

*heroes bar on panorama

Im sure im missing some things. Feel free to fill in the blanks.

1. The Havana area on the Vista Class Ships

2.  The aft corner Excel suites on the Mardi Gras with its own private jacuzzi and the biggest balcony EVER.

3.  The NON-smoking casinos on the ships that have those

4.  Guy's Burgers

5.  Red Frog Pub (especially when they have a happy hour)

6.  The Brass Magnolia on the Mardi Gras

7. The Fortune Teller Bar on the Mardi Gras

8. The Shake spot or bar that has spiked coffees

I like the promenade (except for the smoky casino) especially on elegant nights as folks are walking to/from supper or the show. How everyone looks into the lounges or waits to get their picture taken. The sights and sounds are just unmistakably cruising. The smells I could do without (sadly I was not able to cruise during the few weeks where they didn't allow smoking in the casino).

I also like Serenity, especially Sunshine's Serenity.

the whale tail, because that tells me it is a Carnival Fun Ship;

the forward hot tub, accessible from the gym/shower/sauna on certain ships [nobody thinks to be here after dinner for a moonlit, albeit indoor, soak];

any outdoor area where I can see the churn and inky-blue water in the ship's wake;

Main Dining Room, when we have a booth;

our dark, quiet Interior room;

outdoor seating areas early in the morning, just my hot chocolate and my own thoughts.

I also love the oceanview deluxe rooms with the 2 bathrooms and a bathtub. I love the comedy club, the changing scene "thingy" in the atriums on the Vista class, the jogging track, the ambiance at tea time and the skyride. When I want some solitude without going to my cabin the library is ny favorite place on the ship.

Alchemy Bar, Piano Bar, Guy's Burgers, Steakhouse.

And my Absolutely FAVORITE feature, the crew. We have SO much fun getting to know the people!! I am being totally serious. We may only get snippets, but where else can you get to interact with so many people from around the world? So, yeah. Cruise destinations are great and all, but I have way more fun and learn so much more onboard ship than off. Every single crew member has been so generous about sharing their culture, life experiences, and personal stories. I try very hard to be respectful and not the "pushy American", but it's never been an issue for me so far. If I ask a very basic question about where they're from, or share a little about myself, they have opened right up. Love, love, love the Carnival Crew!!

Easy.  The Cloud 9 Spa on the Dream Class ships.  That T-Pool is the best thing at sea.  Frankly, aside from an Alaskan cruise which we have not taken yet, I will not cruise unless I am getting a Spa Balcony Cabin on a Dream Class.  Makes it simple for me!

It's been over 10 years and I know it's nothing super special, but I remember as an older teen having a table at the very aft of the ship while eating breakfast on a sea day on Triumph. It became my favorite place to be on the ship. Those views were always incredible.

Unique to certain ships:

JiJi's - Vista Class (Vista, Horizon, Panorama)

Hero's Bar - Panorama

Comedy Club design - Dream Class (Dream, Magic, Breeze) and Splendor

Thrill Theater though I think it may be getting removed from some ships (Magic, Breeze, Vista, Horizon)

Big Chicken and Sea Dogs - Mardi Gras

On all ships:

Alchemy Bar

Comedy Club

A lot of venues don't translate well to the larger ships. This one was fantastic. Improved size for the ship, well laid out, and great theme.

There's also something to be said about the main lido pool. The combination of blue iguana, red frog, and guy's, with all of the other stuff going on. It's just a great vibe.

As many said, Alchemy is a great spot. Even on land it is difficult to find cocktails that good (especially for the price). Plus another good vibe.
