Seasick Sailor Posted November 21, 2022 #26 Share Posted November 21, 2022 Good morning Dailyites. Thanks Rich for our Fleet Report. We got an email from our Lido server Bobby who is currently on the Westerdam and I enjoy following the Fleet Report. Prayers lifted to all needing healing and a hug. Cheers to all on a cruise right now. This morning we need to get labs for my sweet husband. Out to lunch while the cleaning ladies are here. Tonight we are going with another couple for prime rib night downtown. Our friend drives our car because of the wheelchair and I have night blindness. Thank you Graham for Father's sermon. Your lunches and dinners look delicious. Kind of like when we are on a cruise ship.. I like gingerbread cookies, would rather read than watch TV, except for Yellowstone. I see people wearing odd socks. I saw them at Kohls too, mismatched pairs. But today starts anti bullying week in the UK. Hoping everyone has a great start to their week. Blessings to you. 21
superoma Posted November 21, 2022 #27 Share Posted November 21, 2022 Good morning all. We spent yesterday on the road driving home from our family gathering in Virginia. 12 hours in the car is too much but we did cut two hours off our travel time going down. That 14 hours was spent cutting diagonally across Ohio and the tip of West Virginia to reach us460 in va. Pretty drive in the spring and early fall, November not so scenic. So on the way home we chose our usual route, 95 to Fredericksburg, cross country to warrenton, Winchester then catching the turnpike at breezewood. Roads were dry, not much truck traffic on a Sunday until we hit the ambassador bridge! I swear some of the cars lined up were coming from the buffalo bills game that had been moved to Detroit because of the snow storm in buffalo. today will be spent doing laundry and putting away luggage and new purchases. One DD fed us supper last night, the other one left us soup and fresh bread for supper tonight so I don’t have to go shopping until tomorrow. nice to see so many dailyites travelling. Well wishes to all struggling with health issues and I will raise a glass tonight to cheer with those celebrating. Off the move the first load of laundry into the dryer!

Quartzsite Cruiser Posted November 21, 2022 #29 Share Posted November 21, 2022 Eventually, hopefully later today, the house will be clean. The floors have been vacuumed and mopped. Dusting later today will be easy, but will take time. 1 hour ago, MISTER 67 said: I've never heard of the port of the day, thanks for the photos but I don't think I'll add to my bucket list. It is an interesting port, and HAL usually does one cruise a year during the height of summer. Spitzbergen as the Dutch called the group of islands or Svalbard, as the Norwegians call it, was discovered by the Dutch. It is now "managed" by Norway, but it does not not belong to any country. It is basically a research station with people coming and going, but there are probably a few full time residents. The two towns cruise ships visit are Longyearbyen and Nu Alesund. 15 minutes ago, Seasick Sailor said: Good morning Dailyites. Thanks Rich for our Fleet Report. Rare rafinmd Posted November 21, 2022 #30 Share Posted November 21, 2022 I was very busy yesterday and did not get to post a sunrise (or even see the sun). StLouisCruisers Posted November 21, 2022 #31 Share Posted November 21, 2022 Thank you Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser for posting my photos today. You’ve got a lot on your plate right now so it’s very kind of you to take on extra work. I’m glad to hear there’s a date set for Steve to come home. He’s worked hard to get to that point and I’m sure will be most comfortable in his own home. Dining staff last night had numerous issues just like first night’s waiters did. We only ordered two courses. We had to stop the waiter from replacing the silverware while our “dirty” dishes from our starters were still on the table. First things first! Going to the Lido for dinner may be in the cards! By the way, has anyone ever seen an order of wine by the glass brought to the table in one of those peanut carafes they give you at the bar? Last night refills were in those tiny carafes not even up to the neck of the container. I would estimate about a 4 ounce pour if that. We went to Ocean Bar for our second glass of wine last night. Much faster service and a larger pour. 16
Rare Crazy For Cats Posted November 21, 2022 #32 Share Posted November 21, 2022 Good Morning Everyone, thanks for the daily fleet report. The first alarm clock went off at 12:30. The snooze button on Mona only lasted about an hour. Three loads of laundry are done. Lot’s of work emails to catch up and that will carry over until tomorrow. So far we seem to be ok and will not need to cancel our Thanksgiving plans. I’m not sure the cats will appreciate another three days of us away. I hope everyone has a good day today.

Cruzin Terri Posted November 21, 2022 #36 Share Posted November 21, 2022 Good morning from Jacksonville. I lucked out today. I had a 2:15 appointment that I managed to get moved up to 9:30 so I am finished. I am sitting in the dining room with DH while he finishes his breakfast and then we are out of here. This morning i took a wonderful shower. After having to shower in a dumpy bathroom in our dumpy apartment, However, I never thought of the bathrooms at the Courtyard Hotels as luxurious but everything is relative. We will be heading home in a little while. We’ll stop at our house to watch them remove more furniture into the POD and wait for the mail. I don’t have an update on my neighbor Joanne. Will try to find out something today. We appreciate everyone’s prayers. Thank you Rich for the Daily and Fleet Report. Like the days. Gingerbread cookies are delicious. What would we do without TV??? And as for odd socks. DH has plenty of them. I am forever throwing them out, especially the ones with holes in them. Give a pass on the libations and the food. Thank you Roy for the lists. Prayers for those who need them and cheers for those who are celebrating and traveling. Welcome home to those who have returned from cruising. Have a great day. Stay safe and God Bless. 1ANGELCAT Posted November 21, 2022 #37 Share Posted November 21, 2022 Good cold and sunny morning. It’s supposed to start warming up tomorrow and rain for the weekend. Tomorrow I turn 69 , I hope the next year is better than the past year . It can’t get much worse. I’m sorry for sounding like a downer but I never thought I would have to be so dependent on someone else. aliaschief Posted November 21, 2022 #40 Share Posted November 21, 2022 Good morning. Today is no plans day so everyone is just starting to rise. We had a beautiful drive through the country side yesterday as we visited two wineries. Foliage is at it’s peak and there is a lot of gold and the red from Japanese Red Maples is stunning. We grilled rib eyes last night at the cottage and enjoyed a couple of red wines we had purchased on our wine tasting. We have been to today’s port of call while cruising on the Prisendam and really enjoyed our visit. We basically did and saw what others have so graciously posted. The scenic cruising done the next day was loaded with glaciers and even a couple of Polar Bears. We we’re treated to another gorgeous sunset last night which was pretty much a duplicate of the sunset pictures I posted yesterday. So I’m looking at a day of sitting, enjoying the view and finishing the book I’m reading. Have a great week.
Sharon in AZ Posted November 21, 2022 #41 Share Posted November 21, 2022 Good morning from SE AZ where it’s chilly but warming up this afternoon to 71F. Later this morning I’m going to make spiced nuts and hopefully a chocolate chip bourbon pecan pie for Thanksgiving. I really need to do some dusting before Thursday too. I’ll just have to see how much energy I have. I watch a lot of TV, especially since I’ve been sick. DGD is notorious for wearing mismatched socks, it’s become part of her personality. I like gingerbread cookies but never make them. I’m not a fan of curry so I’ll pass on today’s meal suggestion. 8 hours ago, grapau27 said: I'm late today. We were in Club Orange though so not sure if that makes a difference. But I agree, I think the Ocean Bar does a much better job with a larger pour. Cruising-along Posted November 21, 2022 #42 Share Posted November 21, 2022 Good morning all! It's warming up a bit and now the clouds and rain have started. I'll take the warmer temperatures, 39 now instead of the low 30's we've had. I'm not a fan of gingerbread, just never have been. I guess I just don't like the taste of ginger. I have a couple favorite TV shows, but otherwise don't watch a lot. Oh yes, odd socks. We all have a dryer that "eats" socks don't we? Will pass on the meal, drink and wine and have never been to the port. Thank you for the photos! Today is the calm before the storm, before I spend 2 days in the kitchen non-stop. I thought of cleaning the kitchen floor today and then thought "you crazy woman, why do that the day before baking pies"??? I admit it, I'm a messy baker besides being a messy painter! 🙂 So I'll get my hair cut today, and just do other holiday prep. @RedneckBobwhat is the female sommelier's name? I'm wondering if it's the same one we have enjoyed on HAL. Have a great day everyone! 19
JazzyV Posted November 21, 2022 #43 Share Posted November 21, 2022 (edited) Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. I haven't eaten gingerbread cookies, but think I'd like them. TV has its good and bad points, but it does keep me company at times. I try to avoid odd socks. Interesting quote. Maybe on the meal and yes to the drink and wine (altho more than I'll pay). I haven't been to Longyearbyen. It's sunny and we are getting above freezing today, into the low 40's! Yay! I'm still working on packing. Between all the meds I take and trying to take stuff for contingencies, I need a bag just for that! My PCP's office called and wants a video visit today due to the abnormal labs. I was going to set up an in-person visit when I got back; I mainly see specialists and wanted the PCP to be in the loop (even though it's all in the computer system, I don't know what she gets to see). @richwmn I'm glad your power is back on. @grapau27 Thank you for Fr. David's sermon. Lovely meals. @Mr. Boston My condolences on the passing of Fr. McGraw. @kazu I'm enjoying the great photos on your Live thread. Rest up and maybe get that foot looked at again. @RedneckBob Welcome home. Sorry about the disembarkation fiasco. @Quartzsite Cruiser Thanks for the photos from Longyearbyen, yours and Sandi's. Praying DH is continuing to progress. @superoma That's a lot of driving. I'm glad you're home safely. @StLouisCruisers I hope the dining room service shapes up quickly! Have a great time. @Cruzin Terri I'm glad you got seen early. Safe trip home. @1ANGELCAT Early Happy Birthday! I hope this next year is terrific for you. @ottahand7 I do hope you get to the Falkland Islands. I hadn't realized that weather makes it hard for some, so I guess I was lucky. I loved the penguin rookery, hence my profile photo. Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List. Stay safe everyone. kochleffel Posted November 21, 2022 #44 Share Posted November 21, 2022 Some weeks I seem to have more odd socks than matched one. I would try the butternut squash curry but might pass on the drink, and I don't really enjoy Malbec. Have not been to Longyearbyen but would like to visit. I have an appointment today to donate blood. I am a terrible blood donor and sometimes they advise me not to donate again (difficult to get any blood and I'm prone to vaso-vagal syncope, which an ER doctor here once described as "fainting goat syndrome"), but my blood is Type O and CMV-negative, so inevitably they recruit me again. I've skipped my HCTZ today and I'm drinking water as often as I can, but the inexperience of the technicians they send here is also a factor. It's at the Presbyterian church almost around the corner. 15
superoma Posted November 21, 2022 #45 Share Posted November 21, 2022 My gingerbread story. I make Lebkuchen for Christmas but have not started baking yet this year. In VA we had access to Aldi and Lidl (another German grocery chain) and they had the Lebkuchen in already. So I bought each of my bunch one package of six to tide them over until I bake. I realized this morning that by the time everybody got their packages I only had one for us! Should have bought more. Did buy a bag of Pfeffernüsse, another German spice cookie, and two small stollen (fruit cake sort of) and that will have to tide us over until I bake. laundry done. Everything put away. Time for a cup of tea and a few chapters of the book DH picked up for me from the library.
Quartzsite Cruiser Posted November 21, 2022 #46 Share Posted November 21, 2022 (edited) What was a gray, cloudy day at home, turned into a gray, wet and gloomy day in Waco. Luckily, it didn't start raining until I got to Waco. DH has his evaluation tomorrow, and with the progress DH is making, we think the discharge date of 11/28 will hold. Today after PT and after a shower, the BP didn't drop. In some ways, we both would be comfortable with another week in rehab to make sure the BP issue is headed in the right direction. It would also give him another week to strengthen his arms and legs. When he goes home, we'll arrange for in home PT. I want him to have the best chance possible to be able to return to an active life and cruising. Whatever happens, it will take time for healing. 3 hours ago, StLouisCruisers said: Thank you Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser for posting my photos today. It's probably more efficient than bring the bottle to the table, especially if others are drinking the same wine. 3 hours ago, 1ANGELCAT said: Good cold and sunny morning. Rare Crazy For Cats Posted November 21, 2022 #48 Share Posted November 21, 2022 Good Afternoon, I’m seeing reports on social media that the Eurodam has been involved in a rescue at sea. I normally make Hutzelbrot every Christmas, but with a trip planned, I will try to make it when I get back. @Quartzsite Cruiser Yay for DH's progress and the BP holding steady.
