Rare sunviking90 Posted December 9, 2022 #3 Share Posted December 9, 2022 That’s a lot of Alaska! Sadly it misses some beautiful scenery by taking the route outside of Vancouver Island, rather than the other side.

I guess only cruises starting in Vancouver do the Inside Passage; those from Seattle go on the outside.

Correct. Common point in favor of sailing from Vancouver.
ShipWalker Posted December 9, 2022 #6 Share Posted December 9, 2022 Map shows outside passage. HAL itinerary reads inside passage northbound. 1
Rare Vict0riann Posted December 9, 2022 #7 Share Posted December 9, 2022 As it doesn't stop in Victoria, only Prince Rupert, it can easily take the Inside Passage

That phraseology is commonly used to describe virtually all Alaska cruises. But they would have enough time on this cruise, unlike most Alaska cruises out of Seattle, to actually go up the eastern side of Vancouver Island.
T8NCruise Posted December 9, 2022 #9 Share Posted December 9, 2022 The diagram shows the route on the outside of Vancouver Island, not the Inside Passage.
craftygrandma Posted December 9, 2022 #10 Share Posted December 9, 2022 Thanks for the heads up. I may just have to put a deposit on this on my next cruise.

I went immediately to the HAL web page to check it out! Great itinerary R/T from Seattle, too. This is the second unusual itinerary…..is HAL listening to customers and offering unique itineraries? We already booked the March 2024 Mexico Solar Eclipse Cruise.
Radbooks Posted December 9, 2022 #13 Share Posted December 9, 2022 Wow... great cruise! I took the 21 day cruise back in 2019 on the Maasdam and it was one of our favorite cruises.

Thanks for posting it. Ok, Ruth, don’t take the very best inside cabin - that one is for me😁 I wasn’t planning on going to Alaska by sea for a while but this is a game changer . See you all there Edited December 9, 2022 by Mary229 1

NCTribeFan Posted December 9, 2022 #18 Share Posted December 9, 2022 Sadly, that's a bit out of my price range. Well, I could do it if I stayed home until then, but that's not going to happen! 😄
Rare Mary229 Posted December 9, 2022 #19 Share Posted December 9, 2022 I wonder if they will be adding more cruises this week. I really love the cruise but hoping for a second date. It is pleasant in Texas in June so we like to escape in late July
FlorenceItaly Posted December 9, 2022 #20 Share Posted December 9, 2022 I regret not purchasing a FCC last month while on the Nieuw Statendam. At this time, I am not comfortable with giving HAL $3500 of my money. I cruise again on HAL in May so perhaps will book onboard. We have a college graduation in 2024 so need to see if there is a conflict in dates. What a wonderful itinerary.

Basically just as you said - pay an extra US$50 pp/pd for the HIA. There is also an extra OBC available, and we got crew appreciation, too, on our early booking for 2024, but I'm not sure if that is still around. The HIA is actually a pretty good deal, if you have lots of sea days and can drink a lot!😄
