What I don't like is those jack a$$'s who bring their huge DSLR cameras with them and just have to make a photo record of, not only all their meals, but the meals of everyone else at their table. BND Posted December 28, 2022 #27 Share Posted December 28, 2022 (edited) We don't get the fresh squeezed. Tried it a couple of times and thought it wasn't very good. The free oj offered is pretty good. But, even if it was something I have at home all the time (it's not as oranges themselves is better for you than the juice) I could go days without it, just like other things I don't have while on a cruise or vacation. From one who is actually serious about making orange juice in their room as opposed to one who is obviously joking, that's rich.

Did they think they would go hungry? Did the think the food cost extra? The conversations we had on the 18 hour drive home 🤣😂🤣 2

Amberle3 Posted December 29, 2022 #41 Share Posted December 29, 2022 Man now you guys have me wondering if something I'm planning on bringing is going to get put on the naughty table! I have a small, personal, USB chargeable blender thing (about the size of a tall water bottle). We've both started using psyllium for dietary/digestive issues and for me the only way it's palatable is if it's in something blended like a smoothie. So I figured I'd take along the psyllium, grab some fruit and yogurt from Windjammers, and mix up some quick smoothies in the room. Since it doesn't generate heat it shouldn't be prohibited, I think? Between the cruise and the pre/post hotel stays we'll be away for 2 weeks and I really don't want to have that much of a disruption to my digestive system. Between the cruise and the pre/post hotel stays we'll be away for 2 weeks and I really don't want to have that much of a disruption to my digestive system. I emailed special_needs@rccl.com and asked if I could bring a small ninja blender for dietary reasons. I had to send them pictures and measurments of the blender. After back and forth conversations they approved it. When I got to the port I had a feeling it would be an issue... With that in mind I had the blender in three pieces, with the blades covered, and the email on my phone pulled up. Of cource they told me I couldn't bring it!! But they said they would contact the ship and had me fwd the email to them and the contact on the ship. They only held onto the blades and said they woukd make sure they will be ON the ship so if approved I could get it at GS We got on the ship, drank, ate and walked around until the cabins were opened. When we opened the door we saw the blade, a few bottles of water and a letter of apologies for any inconveniences... Email special_needs@rccl.com!! Make sure to give them your reservation number, ship, date and what dietary/digestive issues are...

Unfortunately I noticed that they always use different oranges compared to those big yellows offered in the windjammer. I asked if they’d were able to use those and they said no so, can I bring my manual oj machine. I rather do my own OJ using the oranges that I want thanks You should be fine... Disregard all the negativity. I don't like packaged OJ either and never drink it.
shipgeeks Posted December 30, 2022 #47 Share Posted December 30, 2022 I thought the fresh-squeezed OJ was delicious. Well worth one of my D+ vouchers. On another note, Yes, let's start a post about things seen on the naughty table at the end of a cruise.
cublet Posted December 31, 2022 #48 Share Posted December 31, 2022 Hello, My problem with fresh OJ on board is the lack of common sense of the server. Freshly squeezed OJ is poured into scalding hot glasses fresh from the dishwasher killing it dead in impact. The problem with the 'from concentrate' OJ is that it requires a 7:1 dilution and the person doing the diluting loses count part way through and you can have either orange coloured dishwater or something that will de-grease the ship's engines. I think we need to clarify the type of 'machine' one could bring. There's the manual squeezer/reamer as per the link in post #2 (not what I would term 'a machine'); There's the electric squeezer that looks, at its top, like the thing in post #2 but with an electric motor below turning the reamer activated by downward pressure; A machine where you drop in a whole orange and the orange is liquidised and filtered (to a degree) producing orange juice and an orange sludge. To my simple middle of the road kind of mind, there should be no problem with the first, and plenty with the third. I'm so middle of the road that I bring 2. above. It's all plastic apart from the motor. WJ knives are adequate to cut the oranges in half and two oranges produce a good sized glass per day. It has accompanied me on Cunard, Celebrity, Royal and MSC. I bring cellophane bags to take the pith and peel to the garbage. I have it first thing in the morning when I get out of the shower. As to 'going without' for a few days, I never cruise for less that 14 nights at a time and that does not count in my mind as a 'few days'. Regards, Cublet
