Thank you Rich, Eva, Tina, Dixie, and Ann.  Wishing those from the US a safe observance of the sacrifices made by those who gave that last full measure of devotion.  Not sure if those outside the US are familiar but a 529 is a savings plan where families can set aside money for their childrens' college to grow tax deferred until the children reach the appropriate age.  I will salute all peacekeepers but do not generate enough compostable matter to make it worthwhile.  Hilary and his team were true heroes.  I've been to Puerto Montt twice, Crystal Symphony in 2016 and Zaandam in 2017.  I'm having a bit of trouble with the Tomlin quote.  I like the chicken but will pass on the Spanish-Feta.  My alternative is Papaya with Rainbow of Fruit, and Tournedos Rossini as served on MS Prinsendam May 29, 2015.

Thank you for today's daily reports.

Happy memorial Day

Food sounds good.

Never been to today's port so photos will be appreciated.

It's a bank holiday here in England so we are sitting looking out to sea eating tasty wraps that Pauline made.

I hope everyone has a great day.

To honor our country’s fallen heros, 1000 service men and women placed over 267,000 flags at Arlington National Cemetery. image.png.05e16e470568a522d2f1443504a13f3c.png

From the St. Crispin’s Day speech: Henry V Shakespeare

If we are mark’d to die, we are enow
To do our country loss; and if to live
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
God’s will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.

I am looking forward the pictures of Puerto Montt, always my favorite part of the Daily.  The Oosterdam and I will be there in February.

Positive thoughts to those that need them.  Cheers to those celebrating and cruising.

And now for our Meal of the Day:  Spinach Feta Chicken Penne

An easy recipe from a Taste of Home: Spinach-Feta Chicken Penne  I like the use of whole wheat pasta.  I would probably use sun dried tomatoes to add extra flavor.  The feta is sprinkled on top so if you don’t like feta, substitute your favorite cheese.

image.png.fe673035599156346f7bb7ca29a5fef6.png

This Baked Feta Chicken Pasta  was inspired by the Tik Tok recipe I shared with you a few months ago.  The addition of chicken adds more protein to the meal.

image.png.d345503ad1b6a55db14a70dc46a47b00.png

Greek Penne and Chicken  includes artichoke hearts; I’d use marinated ones and add some black olives too.  You could easily use leftover or rotisserie chicken for this recipe.

image.png.848160deb4d1cad9f3fdce854d3f85e7.png

Spinach Feta Chicken Pasta Salad combines baby spinach, miniature bowtie pasta, rotisserie chicken, cherry tomatoes, and toasted almonds to make a satiating and hearty salad. It is drizzled with a citrus vinaigrette.  Perfect for a picnic.

Good morning, everyone!

We have a chilly start to a beautiful day here in mid-Michigan.  Currently, it is 49F with an expected high of 82F accompanied by abundant sunshine.  We do need rain and there really aren't any good possibilities in the foreseeable future.

I dreamt last night of choosing colors for painting our house.  We are set with dark green for the body of the house and a rich, chocolate brown for the trim and some accent.  We are thinking of a burnt orange for the front door and the trim around the roof.  Or maybe fuschia.  Or maybe a butter yellow.  Or maybe teal.  It was a busy dream, testing out the colors and having the neighbors over to give their opinions.

We have nothing on the agenda today.  I'm going to try a little longer walk.  Yesterday's did me a world of good.  Wishing you all a wonderful day.

Good morning friends and Happy Memorial Day!   Let us never forget those who gave their lives to serve our country.  Thank you Rich @richwmn for this edition of the Fleet Report and Daily.  I'm sure composting is important but we have no need to do that nor many scraps to put into it.  I have definitely heard of 529 accounts and am sure that is helping to pay for college expenses in this household.  And a salute to the Day of United Nations Peacekeepers!  🤝  What a feat and honor to be the first British expedition to top Mt. Everest. 🏔️

I'll have to have a look at the chicken dish, margarita and chianti.  Maybe then I would try them.  Well except the red wine.🍷  Thanks to Tina @0106, Dixie @summer slope and Ann @cat shepard for checking into them.  Actually the chicken doesn't look too bad.  I might try it.  Thank you Eva @superoma for doing the Care and Celebration lists for us again today.  I'm hoping Vanessa @JazzyV was able to stay awake during her layover in Atlanta and got home safe and sound overnight.  Sleep away Vanessa!  We will see you on the Daily when you feel up to it.  And Welcome Home!!  Prayers for our Care list people.🙏  I'm praying for improvement in everyone's health and situation.  Congratulations to everyone celebrating cruises or happy events in their lives.  I think this will be our last day up here in Ann Arbor where it is now 55F, sunny and a high of 87 expected!  It really doesn't get that hot up here but today is going to be an exception.  By the way yesterday was sunny after all.  The weather man/woman was wrong.  This is the best stretch of weather we've seen up here in a long time.  Looks like a good week ahead for them as well, weatherwise.  That means Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser we will be in the car tomorrow morning so could you find the link and photos for everyone?    Thank you!

Puerto Montt, Chile was a port on our Seabourn Antarctica cruise starting in December 2016 and our Princess Antarctica cruise in January 2020 just before Covid hit.  We had a CC tour on Seabourn so saw the sights, which I will share with you.  The port was last port of the day on March 9, 2022. Here's the link:

Here are my photos from 2016 on Seabourn Quest.

It was Dec. 21, 2016 when our ship approached Puerto Montt, Chile.  Our first sight, a church and cross up on a hill.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLD6KA1cegUuU74OKPKppwq?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1484960612

We had a private tour with a CC group so set off on our tender for shore.  Captain D.D. wanted to see some of the sights too apparently because there he was on our early tender.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIWDWYV6SIDncAXR4K1CvSC?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1484521692

We met our tour guide Patricia and then headed to a downtown spot where she began discussing the devastation caused by the 2015 eruption of a nearby volcano Calbuco.  Our stopping spot.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKy7HJwG6d2cQJkBqcis5WG?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1484960617

We headed out into the countryside and spotted another major volcano, Osorno with a beautiful snow capped peak.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVI-bkVxarBAATca9Agl2Q43?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1484960650

The park included some spots to shop for souvenirs but we didn't buy any.  On we drove by Llanquihue Lake and headed halfway up Orsono Volcano for our next stop.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLCBZ68MtRbYEkwSPRmrmhO?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1484960707

This was halfway up the volcano.  We stopped and had lunch here.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKgIO4L7XUvydpuyeGrVzjs?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1484960707

Pretty desolate up here.  It's actually a ski lift here but all we could see this time of year was volcanic rock, not snow.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJJJ6EMg48wYnplrmKOxZT_?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1484960712

Back on the tender, looks like our entertainment is riding back with us.

I'm sure we enjoyed that evening's entertainment!  It was a good tour in Puerto Montt and if you can book a private excursion you'll see a lot more of the area.

Have a great and meaningful Memorial Day my friends!

Thank you for today’s R &/D, Rich! An early post for me. Gathering for a service at my community clubhouse. We have several Gold Star families in my neighborhood. Then some of us will go eat breakfast.

Frescobaldi Nipozzano 2019 Chianti Rufina Riserva, Tuscany, Italy

I used the 2019 vintage info since it seems to be available EVERYWHERE! What a nice change. You might find it cheaper locally, but there are numerous online distributors with prices starting at $13.99.

Winemaker Notes

Nipozzano 2019 has a vibrant ruby-red colour. The nose presents fruity hints of berries and black cherry, as well as elegant floral notes. The fresh quality provided by the balsamic notes is simply wonderful. These are followed by roasted and spiced notes of pepper, nutmeg and coffee. On the palate, the wine is rich, characterised by the elegant density of the grapes and the mineral freshness of the finish that make it balanced and persistent. The tannins are dense but not abrasive. The taste and smell correspond beautifully.
JS92 James Suckling
A fruity and bright Nipozzano with currant and cherry aromas and flavors. Juicy and vivid, with some fine tannins. Linear and bright. Lovely energy.

I'm sure we enjoyed that evening's entertainment!  It was a good tour in Puerto Montt and if you can book a private excursion you'll see a lot more of the area.

Have a great and meaningful Memorial Day my friends!

Lovely photos Sandi @StLouisCruisers.

I hope you have a great day today and safe journey home tomorrow.

Also consider a cranberry red door. My neighbors actually did their house in a deep green with a cranberry door and it is striking.

Nice collection of days.  Thank you Roy @rafinmdfor the explanation on 529.  Sounds similar to our RESP (Education Savings Plan), Cheers to our U.N. Peacekeepers. 👍. It’s compost day tomorrow here (every 2 weeks) and my big bin is full along with 4 of the mandatory compostable bags.

LOL on Lily Tomlin’s quote.  The meal looks good @0106

Today is one month from Ivan’s “Gotcha” Day 🙂

Horrible wildfire out of control in Nova Scotia.  Evacuations ordered and homes being lost 😔. Prayers for all those affected there and in Alberta and for those who are fighting the fires 🙏🏻

Not sure about the agenda today - hopefully more planting and weeding (need to pack that compost bin LOL) It will be cooler today which should help.  And a call to HAL’s shore excursions to see if I can have any luck booking the Palm Oasis without HMC shore excursions listed.  (We sail in just over 4 months - where’s the excursions?.)

Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and cheers 🥂 to those celebrating.

Good morning.  We recognize those who lost their lives to keep our country free.   🇺🇸.  I think today's wine would be great and also the chicken dishes look wonderful.  I think I will pass on the fruity cocktail.   Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Reports each day Rich.  Eva thank you for keeping pure cares and celebrations list.  Prayers for all needing them and the people of Ukraine.

John and I were in Puerto Montt in January on the Volendam.  We did a HA tour that was one of our best on the long voyage.  We did a culinary trip with a former Michelin starred chef who left Santiago and opened a restaurant in the Lake District.   We started out at a Farmer's Market choosing the food and the heading to his restaurant for our group to prepare the meal.  There was also almost unlimited tasty wine from the chef's vineyards.  It was also a great way to meet some shipmates early in our long voyage.

Thanks for the Fleet Update and General Info.

I thought a few days ago it was limerick day. Now I got to compost another song.

And this 529 day; save for college. Back when I attended a school of higher learning collecting old coke bottles daily and returning for refunds could get your school paid for. Well, maybe the books.

Good morning everyone, happy Memorial Day. Thank you to everyone that given the supreme sacrifice for our freedom.  I’d like to learn about composting.  529s and UN peacekeepers serve noble purposes.  The quote is so Lily Tomlin.  I’ll pass on the meal as we are going to a Mexican restaurant with DBIL for dinner so maybe the drink?  I haven’t been to today’s port but am enjoying the photos very much.  Prayers for everyone on our list.  Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events, like barbecues.  @dfish I vote for the burnt orange.

Good morning. We have another nice day here with sunny skies and 60 degrees going up to 75.

I am happy to report that we were able to eat outside last night with the whole family. We enjoyed the beautiful  weather, good food and each other until smoke from several firepits in the neighborhood  started to bother Tana. We invited our neighbors  for dessert and coffee. It was the least we could do to thank them for all of their help.

I hope @marshhawk,Annie is doing a little better today.

I also hope @JazzyV,  Vanessa got home alright.

DH and I remember  arriving in Atlanta in a stupor and then dealing with immigration  and the airport subway after a flight from Amsterdam. We had left our car at the NY Airport and eventually  made it home. We were younger then!
