Ipeeinthepools Posted August 11, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2023 I’ve never seen this before. We are currently on the Rotterdam and this is the last day of the cruise. The housekeeping staff got up early and made a bunch of towel animals to decorate the pool area. I’m not sure if it’s just for fun or this is one way to slow down the chair hogs on the last day. In any case everyone seemed to enjoy it. 23 2

oakridger Posted August 11, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2023 Those are so adorable, and I see several that are new to me! So innovative! Yes, ships do this at times and not just on HAL. Thank you for this evening's smile! ~Nancy

Rare ski ww Posted August 11, 2023 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2023 I've seen this on different ships, it is a fun way to start your day, puts a smile on your face.
BSinPNS Posted August 11, 2023 #6 Share Posted August 11, 2023 Seems they do it on the last sea day. Did it on O-dam in South America in February and on the previous seven day on Rotterdam. It is really a nice idea since they only do towel animals on dressy nights now. I do feel sorry for the cabin stewards who need to get up early to do this (about 0430) according to our steward. Combine it with all the work that needs to be done on the last day before turnover.

CruiserBruce Posted August 11, 2023 #11 Share Posted August 11, 2023 Did it on N. Statendam last summer. Very well done and very popular. They left it up until lunch.

Dobby36 Posted August 11, 2023 #13 Share Posted August 11, 2023 I first saw this on the Zuiderdam in 2019, and have made sure to cross through the pool area on the mornings toward the end of each cruise since. Was such a treat!

Rare Mary229 Posted August 11, 2023 #16 Share Posted August 11, 2023 I see them on most of my cruises and I call my DH and drag home out of bed to see the animals. It is usually early in the morning before the chair hogs show up. The crew really is proud of their creativity so be sure to compliment .

gluttonfp Posted August 12, 2023 #24 Share Posted August 12, 2023 That's awesome! I'm on my first cruise, and was excited to find a towel elephant in our cabin today!
Rare Nickelpenny Posted August 12, 2023 #25 Share Posted August 12, 2023 Towel animals always put a HUGE smile on my face (I love to keep them somewhere in my cabin for the entire cruise - if I get more than one in a cruise). For some reason, I have never seen the Pool covered in them (7 cruises so far). So definitely will be looking on my several next booked cruises!
